Beer's U.S. Navy Hydrofoil (Pegasus Class) Now shoots!
Beer replied to Hawker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Thanks Ranger for the new missions, and of course Hawker7 for making the PHM more interesting :D Yes Capun I have noticed the same thing. I guess I need to find out how to make the damage.LODs Any Ideas? I can likely animate it for the damage, but I dont know what frames the damage LOD uses (and TK has said that the damage LOD does not us animation so I am somewhat stumped). I noticed the color of the water in some of the screenshots, if you take the terrain to medium settings it will darken the water, and the hydrofoil should be visibile at its correct height in the water. Ok the new files are uploaded :D http://www.fishbeachproductions.com/SFP1/b...s_3d_models.htm is where you can find it. Whatever you do, don't click Beers Videos and then Beer singing Kid Rock...the site is a test site, it will be moved in a few weeks. Many thanks to all that have helped me struggle with Max, Map, and just tinker with making objects. Hawker7 thanks for rushing the job to meet the timeline :D . Oh just so you know what those U shape things are on the Superstructure skin they are fire hose stations with hoses draped over the saddles. Cheers Beer -

Sorry for what? Where is your 2001 3D Mark? The 2003 3D Marks test ability to use Direct X 9.x The 2001 3D Marks test ability to use Direct X 8.x (which most games are). Your Card supports Direct X 9.0. Mine does not (I would expect a lower score on the 2003 Test, in addition the 9700 is 8x AGP where the my GF4 is 4x). Beer

Here are some benchmarks before and after jacking up the FSB. I used 2001 3Dmark and 2003 3d Mark. Board is an ASUS A7V8X with a AMD XP 2.4 (2.0) processor Graphics is 4x AGP Abit GF 4 4600ti Siluro OS is Windows XP Pro Memory is 512 Megs 3200 DDR 2001 is optimized reflect DirectX 8.x performance Base Number Overclocked from 2.0 to 2.174 by uping FSB to 145 and voltage to 1.75V 2003 is optimized to reflect DirectX 9.x performance It should be noted that it is a totally different "Benchmark" than its 2001 counterpart. Base Number Overclocked from 2.0 to 2.174 by uping FSB to 145 and voltage to 1.75V Note The ABIT GF4 4600ti does not officially support the DirectX 9.x features. Cheers Beer

Nicely Done! Looking forward to that A-7! Your work is professional quailty; I always look forward to reading and seeing progression of your projects ! Same for Deuces! One question though Is the animation as the site loads a secret hyptoism device that programs Trolls not to post? Cheers Beer -
Suggestion: Semi-Official custom plane packs by TK
Beer replied to Grille Chompa's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
One thing we did with the Janes USAF crowd was distrubute CD's, those that could burned the Mods (this was my niche since I could not 3d or could hardly skin aircraft), and sent them out. I distrubuted 35 or so CD's at my expense (total cost was about $1.50 each in the US) slightly more to go overseas. I did this at no expense to those that requested them, and frequently the recieving party would send me a check for $5, I more or less broke even. With Burners as common as they are now it can be done again. First say Skunkworks or Biohaz, creates a "Expansion Pak SW2003", it is downloaded (ICQ file transfer for lack of server space) by primary distrubuters whose email is posted on a distrubuters page. Those interested in getting the new release email one of the distrubuters on the Sw or BioHaz distributers page. A group of about ten distrubuters sends out 10 disks a piece (count me in as one), now potentially you got a 100 distrubuters, but lets say of the 100 disk sent out, 20 will start distrubuting, now you got 30 distrubuters on the list of emails, the first ten get tired of doing it so they take there names off the list, still twenty distrubuters, and the cycle continues. The trick is not to create a new pack every three months, a patch to the "mod" would have to be downloadable, and the sending of 300-700 megs of mods would more or less have to be annual, to keep the distrubuters expenses/time down. It worked for the Janes USAF crowd and their SP releases. As for TK handling player mods? I believe all he needs to do is distrubute the tools and impart some knowledge of what we can do (which he has done :D ), and from time to time, point the community in the right direction when they are stumped. Its up to the community to handle the rest IMHO. Cheers Beer -
Jeff, I being a connseaur of the latest and greatest (at least in a wish I had it sense), I often like to ponder the "what if" I went with this component over another... I was wondering if in the hardware section, you could make a "Board" for OClocking, where the idea would be The subject Line would be the motherboard model say for example: Subj: ASUS A7V8X I am running a AMD 2.4 (2000) with 512 Megs 3200 Samsung DDR with a Abit GF4 4600ti I am overclocked @ 2100 yada yada with screenshots of my 3D Mark 2003 is xxxxx Anyone with that board would find it with the subject line and add there specs/benchmark to it or someone looking to buy that board could look and somewhat predict improvements from their old system; this would greatly assist in those purchasing decisions ;) and to see what others are able to do overclocking wise. I know we could hit overclocking forums...but why when we could do the same thing here, with guys playing the same games we are... Just a thought. Cheers Beer

LOL, These days, one could pick on hal for being flabby! Look at the size of that case! My AMD would run circles round that Hal with two simms tied behind its back! hehe Good cartoon! Cheers Beer

Where's my airfield?
Beer replied to Mudhen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yes you are correct, Brew and I noticed this while formation flying in multiplayer on machines that where side by side. The host does not see the airfield, the joiners do. To the best of my knowledge I believe the TW crew have been told about it. Cheers Beer -

Beer replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Still Amatuerish but hey...I looked into classes for 3D Max $900 (134 six packs of Beer) for 4 sessions! LOL I think I will stick to Tuturials, Trail and Error, and just point and clicking until the desired results show up...LOL last year all I could do is modify existing skins! Hopefully I will be releasing stuff soon, I just need to learn more so my readme files are accurate for installing and using this stuff... Thanks for the encouragement! No where near the skills of the guys doing the plane add-ons but I am learning new Max stuff each project I try. Hope to Map and skin the Drill Rig this weekend (primer spots and holidays just like my guys do! I nicknamed one of the seaman Doc Holiday because of all the holidays he leaves when he paints!). I have a multiplayer "attack and defend" vision that involves two coastlines 60-75 miles apart, you gotta CAP your "Marine Oil Assets" and at same time destroy the opposing team's assets...Respawns are at the ramp. Either a Timed "points" (kills and damaged ground targets) ending...or a first one to destroy the opponents. Think it is feasible...That would one up the old Janes USAF furballs! Cheers Beer -
Anti ship mission
Beer replied to Pasko's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Pasco I tried PMing ya but it is hanging in my out box... Anyways...Naturally...How did ya do that! LOL This is what I am thinking... In Max you made objects named turrent and barrel, assisned the axis and hieracy, Edited the .ini from the patrol boat to match your new creation and it worked? I think why it is not working is I did not name the gun parts per the .ini entries... Anyways this is a great advancement to ship making! I will likely have to detail the guns better, if I can get them to work as you did yours! Cheers Beer -
Anti ship mission
Beer replied to Pasko's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
I have tried about everything I can think of. Do you have a cargoship_data.ini that makes the ship shoot at aircraft. If I am given one that works I think I can modify it to reflect the guns positions (they will not trak but the gunfire will come from there approximate locations. I am fixing on giving up, and moving on. Cheers Beer -

Anti ship mission
Beer replied to Pasko's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
This is good...just what I needed, to start up some anti shipping stuff. The Carrier we can add to the ground objects as a separate object as the Soviet DD. I did the the Carrier to Cargoship thing just because it was easy to do. Now let me see if if I can make a mission with the Carrier, the Soviet DD, the Container Ship and Tanker all in one... Heres a pic of the Soviet DD. I need help to make the Ships hostile and fire at aircraft, any takers on the object.ini for the various ships? Currently in the Big Beers Shipyard A USN PHM 1 A USN Sumner Class DD The USN CV-41 is getting reworked Cheers Beer -

Beer replied to JW_darkpresence's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
The spin is away from the land terrain/objects and the sea/air battle one may see while flying with "Wings of Gold". Likely Soviet Objects I will make: Kresta I/II Slava Udaloy Krivak I/II Foxtrot Victor I/II Likely US Objects I will make Forrest Sherman DD Coontz DDL/DDG Leahy CG Knox FFG LA SSN Cheers Beer -
