How to make the game better
Brain32 replied to markkyle66's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well it's just a matter of taste I guess, because for me the only thing that navigates around green triangle is Pacman, pilots are the ones that navigate around mountains, sure it's hard to see birds nest at speeds involved, but I don't think they only see a green triangle either -
How to make the game better
Brain32 replied to markkyle66's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well personally, graphics is a big part of gameplay especially in a flight simulator. If one is to simulate flight as realistic as possible it would be funny as hell if with all the fancy electronics and system modelling and high fidelity FM, you would be thrown over what looks more like hangover gone bad than a place on Earth... -
Is there a CitiesWoI.ini?

High Resolution PR ANW Terrain Tiles
Brain32 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
File Name: High Resolution PR ANW Terrain Tiles File Submitter: Brain32 File Submitted: 25 Apr 2008 File Category: Tilesets *****High Resolution PR ANW Terrain Tiles***** by Brain32 This is a set of high resolution (1024x1024) tiles for America North West terrain. Installation is simple, just unrar all the *.BMP's into your ANW terrain. Tiles were as usual made with help of satelite imagery, and are actually taken more from mid West USA than North West, but I think they still fit into general terrain idea. Dont get too concerned with high resolution or the size of the tiles, ANW terrain has only 6 tile types so this mod will not have any performance impact whatsoever, I tested it personally under WOI on my aged system and it went super smooth. Global Warming?
Brain32 replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Lex is correct, tile types MUST be arranged by altitude you can not have gaps or the above happens, if you have for example: "Grass" going from 1 to 400m; but the first next type...let's say "Farm" going from 600 to 800m you will have the gap... -
Service Years Problem
Brain32 replied to Wraith27's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
OK, if you take a look here you can spot a pattern. All service years that pass 1985 are bugged for you, that's with a good reason. In WOE default service years range from 1955 to 1985 to change that, go to root folder of the game, there's an "Options.ini" open it up and find the following line: [singleMission] AircraftType=F-15A MissionMap=GERMANYCE MissionType=SWEEP MissionTime=NOON MissionWeather=SCATTERED AirActivity=NORMAL AirDefenseActivity=NORMAL LoadMission=FALSE LoadMissionFilename=A-10A Close Air Support MissionYear=1978 StartYear=1955 EndYear=1985 <--------------CHANGE THIS to your liking, I have mine set for 2020 -
Kosovo Terrain
Brain32 replied to Silverbolt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I think there will be some room for that but not much, I tried to squeeze in as much as possible, but didn't want to go over standard 1000x1000 size, there's whole Aegian sea on the map and a really good chunk of Turkey on it -
Kosovo Terrain
Brain32 replied to Silverbolt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Nope not just Kosovo, this terrain will not focus on it at all, it's primarly made(and named by me) Balkans SEE(South Eastern Europe). It will be sutable for all historic and ficitional/near miss scenarios related to Balkan: WW2(will look too modern for that but...) Near miss/ficitional from late40's/early50's Yugoslavia(+ surely western allies) vs SSSR Varios variations of conflicts between 1990 and 1999: CRO vs YUG 1991-1995(not too interesting in regards to air war, I don't think there was a single encounter(dogfight) between the two forces, mostly mud moving with vicious AAA systems on both sides) NATO vs YUG with Operation Allied Force probably being the only material, also Flight Baning operations over Bosnia might be interesting too. My main focus will ofcourse be on Croatia and neighbouring contries and most tiles will be largely based on satelite imagery of my country, I planed medditeranian look for Italy,Greece and Adriatic coast, forrested mountain look for transition and mild European style for inner(northern) parts of the map(similar to GermanyCE since it really is)... You can bet your arses I'll be giving everything I know into this, nothing like doing your home -
Kosovo Terrain
Brain32 replied to Silverbolt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Here's the part I'll cover: It will be a completely new terrain, with custom PR 512x512 tiles... Don't expect it too soon though, not #1 priority right now sry... -

Next TK flight sim?
Brain32 replied to Luiz Carlos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
What I have problem with is the "only" part. I would rather have a sim with two flyables(let's say MiG-29 and F-16) and everything else on both sides AI, than a sim with 8 flyables on one side and all AI on other. This would actually be my main issue with SF series sims if there was no mods... -
Urban Development, WoE Germany terrain
Brain32 replied to Fubar512's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
1) Associated bitmaps means "terobject1_buildings.bmp" and "terobject_buildings1A.bmp" 2) TOD's taken from Polaks desert need to be renamed into "GermanyCxxx.TOD". Main city tiles are GermanyC1-5. Generally in "GermanyCxx.bmp", C stands for City, transition textures are marked as for example GermanyCG25.bmp, this means it's a transition tile from C - City to G - Grass by 25%...you get the picture I hope :) -
Urban Development, WoE Germany terrain
Brain32 replied to Fubar512's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yeah I did that from begining, but was too lazy to pull all the required permissions to include it in the main mod. Oh and to adjust the TOD's for GermanyCE terrain you need to rename them to "GermanyC1 - C5" What would be extra cool is completely new repositioning of the buildings, however I can't map the buildings worth a sh1t lol so... -

Low FPS in cockpit, WoI
Brain32 replied to GhostAR's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
That's mighty strange, I can't run LockOn to be playable on my system except at settings where it looks quite poor, on the other hand I can run WOI(patched) without mirrors and reflections, shadows off or even at medium, everything else on high with fps never droping below 20 and that's only in intensive situations... -
TerrainEditor CTD when using Autotexture Function
Brain32 replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
And neither do I, best way if you're working with new TE is to make a new HFD IMO, then no problems occur... -

Brain32 replied to kh606fp's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
