  1. Thank you all for downloading. This model has been updated to fix an issue with the missile reloads that I just noticed.

    You can either replace the data file from the updated package I uploaded, or manually make the following changes to the data.ini file.

    Under the [super] section:

    ...

    SystemName[010]=Missile1
    SystemName[011]=Missile2
    SystemName[012]=Missile3
    SystemName[013]=Missile4
    ...

    At the SSM launchers near the end of the file:

    [sSM1]
    SystemType=MISSILE
    GunnerID=5
    MissileID=1
    WeaponTypeName=MM40
    WeaponPosition=-2.055,-2.1,12.71
    ShowMissile=FALSE
    IndependentPitchMovement=FALSE
    ReloadCount=3
    ReloadTime=1.0

    ...

    [sSM2]
    SystemType=MISSILE
    GunnerID=6
    MissileID=1
    WeaponTypeName=MM40
    WeaponPosition=2.055,-4.1,12.71
    ShowMissile=FALSE
    IndependentPitchMovement=FALSE
    ReloadCount=3
    ReloadTime=1.0

  2. Okay, okay, I can do it.

    As always, if anyone can supply nice 3-views and line drawings, ships will get built much faster.  :happy:

    I just finished this new 40mm Bofors. Taiwan uses them on the Kang Ding and Cheng Kung (locally-build O.H. Perry frigates). I don't know of any other navies that use this mount.

    Here's the Kang Ding with the new mast and hull modifications. I just need to make the new radar and install the weapon systems.

  3. Ka-29 Helix-B

    This model represents the Ka-29 Helix-B assault helicopter in service with the Russian armed forces. It is a development of the Ka-27 naval helicopter and primarily designed for amphibious assault.

    I created this mod as "practice" using a free model I downloaded long ago. The skin is rather low-res and I have not made any attempt at improving it. However, I did create slow/fast rotors, animated doors and shock absorbers, as well as lights and weapons. The flight model is a work in progress. See the readme for full details.

    No cockpit is included by default; use whatever you have available. Please feel free to post improvements to the skin and/or flight model.

    Cabin doors: Shift+9

  4. Looks great, colmack!

    I just finished a bunch of 3" 50cal guns; check your email for them soon.

    post-33721-0-31648700-1426163284.jpg

    From right to left:

    • The open-mount I originally made for the Leahy, but I re-mapped it on its own texture sheet so you can use it more efficiently in other ships. Iwo Jima was laid down with these.
    • Standard Mk33 turret, which has a really weird shape and I'm not 100% satisfied with, but I think it's close enough. The LPH's got a refit to this type at some point.
    • Alternate Mk33 turret, used on other types of ships like the Oslo class frigates. I'm including them here for completion.

  5. For questions 2 and 8, there is a partial solution if you want a second sortie without ending the mission.

    Go to your Controls folder. There should be an .ini file in there that lists all the key controls, such as "Default.ini". Open that up, and look for the [ControlSet001] column. At the end, paste in the following:

    REARM_WEAPONS=ALT+W
    RELOAD_GUN=ALT+G
    UNJAM_GUN=ALT+J

    After you land, press Alt+W and then Alt+G to re-arm your weapons and replenish gun ammo. Taxi back around and take off. (You can change the key presses to anything else you want, of course.)

    There are a lot of limitations, of course. I don't think there's any such command for refueling or replenishing chaff/flares, for one thing. The rest of your squadron will de-spawn once they land, so you'd have to do your sortie solo. If you land on a carrier, you can't reset the catapult. And finally, there'll be no waypoints to follow.

  6. La Fayette class frigate

    This model represents the La Fayette class frigate of the French Navy, in service from 1996 to present. Referred to as a stealth frigate, the La Fayette's angled design and radar-absorbent composites greatly reduce its radar cross section.

    Five La Fayette class ships are now in French service, and export variants have been sold to Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore (not included in this package).

    The La Fayette is armed with a modernized 100mm gun, 20mm close in weapons, eight MM40 Exocet missiles, and eight Crotale missiles (with reloads). The flight deck can support one medium helicopter.

    See the readme for full details and credits. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or constructive criticisms regarding this model, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you!

    Special thanks to FRPignon for the hull number decals.

  7. La Fayette is 99% done; just need to add some weathering. Next is the Kang Ding-- I'll need to modify the hangar, build new masts and radars, Sea Chaparral and Bofors turrets, and install a 76mm and phalanx. Should take another week at most.

    As you may know, there was a La Fayette made for SF1 a long time ago. Here are some screenshots of my version and the old version to show why I think it deserved a new model:

  8. Here's a video of Boeing's similar project, the Advanced Tactical Laser, being fired from a C-130.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfmEUqmgsK4

    Imagine driving along in your technical on the way to behead a journalist or something, and all of a sudden an invisible force slices through the hood and sets your engine on fire. Anyone who survives something like that is going to re-evaluate their life choices, or at least rush to get a change of underwear.

  9. It's certainly been a while. I'm sure you've seen the Jeanne d'Arc recently, but here are some other projects I'm working on.

    First, I plan to do some more French ships. Here's the La Fayette so far. I'm doing this one first so I can also make the Taiwanese version (Kang Ding class).

    post-33721-0-21470600-1424765383.jpg

    FREMM and Horizon are also in the works. Probably a Georges Leygues and Cassard too.

    I'm still working on the long-hull Essex. I finally finished unwrapping the hull, and the main texture will be 4096x4096 so that the deck looks as crisp as possible. I still have a lot of work to do on the island, though.

    By the way, does anyone have a close-up photo of the pre-refit bridge? I think I've done a decent job on the late-era enclosed version, but I'm stuck on the original version (below). Diagrams and grainy photos are all telling me different things.

    I know people want a Ka-25, but I gave up on the one I was building. Sorry. Someone else said they were working on one, anyway.

    However, I did find a partially completed model of a different Kamov on a free model site a while back, so I put this together as practice:

    post-33721-0-17570800-1424765867_thumb.jpg

    The skin is really low-res (it's just a basic camo scheme the thing came with), and the flight model is extremely touchy on the yaw (I did the best I could with it). But it flies. I put in lights, animated doors and landing gear shocks. If you guys want it, I'll upload it.

  10. Jeanne d'Arc helicopter carrier

    This model represents the Jeanne d'Arc helicopter cruiser of the French Navy, in service from 1964 to 2010. The only ship of her class, "La Jeanne" was primarily used as a training ship in peacetime, but could serve as a fully capable helicopter carrier in times of crisis.

    Three different versions are included, covering each major refit of her long service life. Exocet missile launchers were added in 1975, while the aft guns were removed and some electronics were replaced in 2000.

    The Jeanne d'Arc's large flight deck can handle the simultaneous launch of up to four helicopters. Nighttime deck lights and fake arresting wires are in place for your convenience.

    Note: This model's role is designated as an aircraft carrier by default. You may change this by setting WarshipClass=CRUISER or WarshipClass=TRANSPORT depending on your preference.
