  1. The Canadian Forces took delivery of 89 CF-5A single seat aircraft
    starting on November 5, 1968. 419 Squadron was based at CFB Cold Lake.

  2. In 1959 Canada bought 30 Soviet Mig-21F Fishbeds. With the failure of the Avro Arrow Canada needed some high speed interceptors
    but this project only lasted over 2 years before selling them off.
    The F-101B Voodoo was Canadas main interceptor purchased from the USAF to fill the needs.

  9. The RCAF acquired its first examples of the Dakota in 1943 and they were used in various
    theatres including in Canada, Europe and South East Asia. A total of 169 Dakota aircraft
    served in the post war RCAF with 76 remaining in service in 1969. In 1989 the last nine
    Dakotas were replaced by the CC/CT-142 Dash 8.

  11. A total of 64 Firefly aircraft served with the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) from March 1946
    to February 1955. Fairey Firefly's made up part of the aircraft complement for both
    HMCS Warrior and HMCS Magnificent.

  14. In the 80s Canada changed the look for their rescue Choppers.
    They went to the yellow paint scheme which you can find on all their rescue aircraft.
    These markings were used from 1978 to 1993.

  18. The CH-118 Iroquois was purchased after the success of the US UH-1
    Huey in Vietnam. The duties involved primarily Search and Rescue
    and general utility duties. Only ten aircraft were purchased and
    served roles until their retirement in 1995.
    These markings were used from 1968 to 1973.

  19. Canada was the second NATO country to select the F-104G as its next generation combat
    aircraft. On July 2, 1959, plans were announced for the co-production of 200 CF-104s.

    world Canada has decided to purchase a squadron of Kestrels to evaluate.
    They will be called the CF-199 Kestrel.
