Definately! :) But don't they look great. I have a similiar setup to you Gustav and use a similiar technique (ALT+D and CTRL+F12), but my screens are motsly sub-par. I must take a leaf from your book and try some color colr/light/shade etc editing. JB5 -

CG-47 Ticonderoga class Aegis cruiser
JimBeamer5 replied to WhiteBoySamurai's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
OK, added the Flight Deck and the Catapult you need to launch. See the attached Data.ini file. Unlike a carrier launch, the cat here is set for a realistic helo launch. That is, you'll have to fly the helo off the deck yourself, the cat will only release you from the deck. There is also no fake arrestor wire to land, you'll need to use your skill as a helo pilot to land successfully. It's not that hard, will take some effort though. Remember to use your thrust vector keys UP arrow to rotate nozzle down (for slowing down and hover), and DOWN arrow to rotate nozzle back (to pick up speed). I've also modded the engine exhaust to the cleanexhaustemitter for a more realistic gas turbine smoke effect. And I'll stop work on my MH-53J and do some new bmp's for the Tico, a beautiful model and a pleasure to do some skin work for it. Give me a day or three though. JB5 CG-47_DATA.rar- 18 replies

Well, 3/ I may be able to help, what does your UV map look like? 4/ Decals work the same for ships as aircraft, at the very least. Is there a way of not having to use the bmp's in every ship folder? I don't know. I just do it the same way as aircraft. 5/ These days, 15K polys should be ok. The Daring Wrench mentioned is about that, and works well in game. 6/ The Harpoon launchers would be great, how many extra polys? Thanks very much for the Tico BTW, we lack any sort of modern USN carrier escort, Spru-cans being the most modern IIRC. And a Burke (and a Kongo) are not a million miles away. And I'm very glad to have another helo deck to operate from! JB5 -

I'm intrigued, how do you go about unpacking stock seats? Nothing obvious in a quick look of the cat files, do you have to hex edit or something? JB5 -

Up to you, it's a free country after all! :) I forgot to say though that you'll also see the minigunners floating in mid air as they don't any seats to sit on. All the available "object" seats (AFAIK) are ejection seats. Not ideal, but let's face it, SF is about making the best set of compromises you can! JB5 -

DTM, thanks for the countermeasures fixes, but the reason I left the full doors on and just removed the glass is that the Hawks lack detail (to put in mildly) inside. I've done what I can with paint but the models really need separate walls/floors/bulkheads/cargo area seats etc. Take the doors away and you can see how poor it looks inside, unfortunately. JB5 -
Sikorsky HH-60H Rescue Hawk
JimBeamer5 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
View File Sikorsky HH-60H Rescue Hawk Not really a HH-60H Rescue Hawk, but of course a SH-60F Seahawk. It's the closest we have in SF so it will have to do. She is relatively easy to fly on "normal" mode, which SF helicopters are tuned for. You can hover, fly backwards and sideways, ascend verticaly etc. It takes some practice and skill but is definately doable. Installation: Place the HH-60H folder into your Aircraft folder. Place the AAQ16, RescueHawkMiniGun, RescueHawkTank and USNHeloGunnerR into your Weapons folder. Place the USNHeloPilot1 & 2 folders into your Pilots folder. NOTE: For those with SF1 I have included the AAQ16 and USNHeloGunnerR as fake pilot objects. You will have to remove the ; from the data.ini file for them to work. They will look different from the SF2 version, but better than nothing. You will not get the RescueHawkMiniGun to work in SF1 unless you edit the weaponsdata.ini file. Place the RescueHawk wav file into your Sounds folder. Place the two TADS files and the Loading wav file in your Flight folder. Place the contents of the Decal folder into your Decal folder. You will need to copy over the SH-60F LOD's from the SH-60F Seahawk mod. If you do not already have it, get it from the A-Team Skunkworks site. Credits: A-Team for SH-60F Seahawk Mod. Note my skin is best possible with current model limitations. It is HH-60H Rescue Hawk "307" from US Navy Helicopter Combat Support Squadron Five (HCS-5). Kesselbrut for MH-60G Cockpit. Wrench for Hangar/Loading Screens I used as a base. Kesselbrut (? - they're the same model as in the pit, so I assume they're his)) for Helo Pilots and Helo Gunner on which I based the US Navy pilots and gunner. 331KillerBee for the LiteningIII pod and F-11F Tank which became the Rescue Hawk's nose FLIR and external tank. Anyone else I have missed, apologies. Thanks to all. Submitter JimBeamer5 Submitted 05/08/2011 Category UH-60 -

HH-60J Jayhawk
JimBeamer5 replied to firehawkordy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You're quite welcome. I saw in your profile you had a pic of 307 saw I changed the number to that. The Maltese crosses are cool, I'm came across a few but couldn't figure out which (if any) 307 specifically used. Saw a few pics with just the cross with no phrase, saw I went with that. I think one of them was called The Scurvy Dawg BTW! JB5 -
HH-60J Jayhawk
JimBeamer5 replied to firehawkordy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Here's the best I can do. I have no 3D skills, except for ini hacks, so...I won't be able to post this until my shift is over (12 hours or so), so if you have any suggestions/changes etc let me know and I'll incorporate them in the upload. As to SF2, I'm getting 10FPS better now than under SF1. It runs that so much better. And the Mission Editor. I'd have paid 50 bucks just for that. It basically allows you to create your own YAP style missions easily. You can add as many objects and birds as you want (both any and friendly), ships and carriers, even people! I populated a whole base as it was IRL just by using it. -
HH-60J Jayhawk
JimBeamer5 replied to firehawkordy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
What are you using for the HH-60H? What model and skin. I've updated the skin for the USCG with more detail, I have could do the scheme in the link for you if you like. I might be able to add AAQ-16 pod in lieu of the Jayhawk radar (if I can find something to make a pilot addon with), no promises. It would only work in SF2 though, if you're not using SF2 I would recommend it - it's worth it for the Mission Editor alone. JB5 -
HH-60J Jayhawk
JimBeamer5 replied to firehawkordy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yes, with a fair bit of work. The basics are fine, but if you want to have the Jayhawk's nose radar, cabin crewman and other "weapons", you'll have to add them into the weaponsdata.ini (from memory, with the weapons editor?). In SF2 it's just drag and drop, in SF1 it's a fair bit more cumbersome. You'll have to put the pilots into the Aircraft folder, make sure the decal is in the right folder etc. Some work, but definatley doable. JB5 -

As The Wrench says, we have just been lamenting the lack of one only a couple of days ago! The Coast Guard will give thanks to you Russ if you can rustle one up (pun intended). Plenty of rescues involving these that can be scripted. If you can manage it, one with a landable helo pad would be great! JB5 -

AvHistory P-38 FM
JimBeamer5 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Prop Heads Forum
AvHistory's FM's for SF props are, in the main, excellent. I've had no problems so far, except with the P-38. It has the usual prop problem of the current patch for the AI in that they bounce all over the runway before blowing up. Research seemed to point in the direction of the shock/spring/damper values, I have changed these to no effect. Wrench, your P-38J is much better behaved, I ended up just using your bird as my base (although it has some weird issues in the turn), I can fly it well enough to fight though. And I can take off and land - very important as I don't "start in the air". This may be something I've done, just wondering if anyone is having the same problem. If not, clearly I've done something critically wrong and can someone please send me the AvHistory P-38 FM that works. Note the FM is direct from the AVHistory site. JB5 -
Yep, gone. I think TK's Meteor cockpit was the last straw for Stiglr. :) JB5

Raven, I'm using the L model from WOLF's pack. Kevin, have you tried the AH P-38 and do you get the same results or am I doing something wrong? I'm currently flying their P51D-30 and it's excellent. JB5 -
