  1. brazen...no longer even denied...

"I feel your pain", oh no, now I sound like a, GAAH, I cannot bring myself to say it, my head might implode from lack of substance. There is not a day that goes by that Newsome's face is not on the tube spouting off about something. Unfortunately, the three Woefully Windy Wonders of West coast Womanhood are also from my area of the state. For someone who's approval ratings are lower than the President's, Pelosi sure has a lot to say. And before someone points out they are not "her" ratings, they are the House's ratings and "she" is the Speaker of the House, so if Newt can be held responsible, so can she. Murtha, I'm still waiting for his apology to the U.S. Marine Corp and specifically to the Marines from the Haditha incident. Sure had alot to say before the investigation was even begun. Pretty quiet now. But then, if I was a former Marine and I had crapped all over the finest conventional fighting force ever, I would hang my head and slink away too. This gasbag should have been censured by the House at the least. The Democrats have been in charge of this state for forty plus years and look at the mess it is in. Somehow, though it never seems to be a problem until there is Republican in the Governer's office. Although I had hopes for SchwartzenKennedy, but we see where that went. I'm going to get off of my soapbox now, if I don't this will turn into a book. C2
  2. Can't believe no one's seen this snippet

I saw Top gun when it first came out. I was stationed at Pensacola, Fla. (birthplace of U.S. Naval Aviation). A bunch of us went to the movie theater off base. You could tell where all of the Naval Aviation personnel were in the theater. We were the ones laughing our asses off. The only believable scene in the whole movie was the opening shots of the cat launches. Of course I'm having a hard time remembering any Cat Officers doing any dancing in between launches, from my time spent on flight decks. Besides it would have earned them a call on the 5MC from the Ops Boss up in Flight Ops. And believe me, that is ten ladderwells you do not want to climb. Afterwards someone had asked us what was so funny? We told them this movie was the biggest load of crap there is as far as Naval Aviation is concerned. Any pilot that acted like that would be grounded so fast that his a$$ would draw a vacuum as he left the C.O.'s office. Kelly McGillis of course made the whole thing worth watching. Good box office draw. Great recruiting tool. Fast and loose licensing with the facts, you bet! I think you guys are right, Hollywood ran out of ideas years ago. C2
  3. It's a boy!

Congratulations. Get some well deserved rest while you can. I hope Mum & Owen are doing fine. Don't forget to enjoy the small moments too. They grow up so fast and next thing you know they're on their own. C2
  4. Post-Apocolyptic Society

To quote my daughter gwar, TMI, TMI. Must...remove...mental...picture...aarrgghh... Great, now my beer tastes funny. I may have to grow older, but, show me where it says I have to grow up. I've seen all the Disney/Pixar 'Toons. Hell, Ive been watching Disney 'Toons since, uh, er, a long time ago. So, I'm going to see Wall-E this weekend. Of course it's for the grandkids. C2
  5. Favorite song

If I had to choose three/four favorite songs; Fortunate Son-CCR (my younger days) Simple Man-Lynard Skynard Love Me When I'm Gone & Kryptonite-3 Doors Down (recently) Really, it is too hard to choose a really favorite song. There are so many and my taste ranges from Blues, Swing, Big Band, Country and Rock to Classical, Instrumental, Folk/Ballads, etc... It all depends on my mood and what I'm doing. But, DEFINITELY NO DISCO!!! As for albums, YES(the early ones with Rick Wakeman), Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Boston, Nazareth, Cream, The Tubes, The Clash, the list goes on. Anyway, my two cents worth. C2 BTW, ezlead, cool video. I bookmarked it. Anybody catch the pilot reading the map at about a hundred feet off the deck?
  6. pfunkmusik, Here's a link that should start you on the correct path. http://www.archives.gov/st-louis/military-...d-form-180.html All retired/former military personnel records are kept at the National Personnel Records Center (Military Personnel Records), St. Louis, Mo. Just request form SF-180. Please be patient as the process is very slow moving. One thing though, as your father is still alive he may have to do this himself. Usually family members can request records after the veteran is deceased. Hope this helps. Please extend my heartfelt gratitude to your father for his service to our great nation. Yours in Honor, Duty and Service, C2
  7. RAF defeats USAF ...

charlielima, right you are. 0001, 01.01.1985. All facial hair had to be removed. I was a 1st class then and if we wanted to grow back a moustache we had to submit a request chit up the chain of command. The reason given for no beards was for a tighter seal on DC gear, gasmasks and proper fit of flight gear. The others I could understand, but, my flight gear fit just fine. We even had to submit a chit when I was an E1 for a stache and it had to be approved by CMC and was checked 30 days later to decide if you could keep it. Of course I put no facial hair on sailors right up there with Adm Zumwalt's memo, (infamous Z-grams) about changing our uniforms to suits. Of course my wife wanted my jumper top, looked a sight better in it than I did. Made everybody mad. Only Chiefs wear 'the hat'. Facial hair has been a time honored tradition on sailors of all nations since they went to sea. Why mess with it? C2
  8. The Newbies List Of Forum Acronyms

O.K., my first post. Most I've seen throughout my military career, (known for love of acronyms). One I didn't see was FNG-F***ing New Guy. :lazy2: Oh crap, that's me.
