Su-39 SuperGrach SF2
jomni replied to Brain32's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
The A-10 has met it's match. Finally enjoy moving mud as the Reds. Two things: 1) Missiles don't fit the pylons. Looks like I'm missing a part. How to fix? Is it part of the KillerBee SF2 weapons pack? 2) I got rid of the annoying Russian radio chatter. Don't think it adds to the immersion since they sound like chipmunks and the volume level is so overpowering. Thanks. -

Good thing Red Crown does not give directions using "Bullseye" like in Falcon 4. -
Hitting moving trucks with laser guided bombs
jomni replied to MigBuster's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
My problem now is that when you use 'E' to cycle after bombing the mission target, you can only target units of "military value" (Tanks, AAA, SAMs, Radars). Can't target static buildings. Wish TK included them in the cycle. So if you are tasked to take an airfield and you want to deal additional damage, bring along some dumb bombs to target the tanks, hangars, runway, etc. -
no mod folder second post for help
jomni replied to manlyman564's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
SF2 structure is a breeze to mod and it does not affect core files. Easy to mix and match and back up as well. No need to extract the cat if you're an amature modder. For example, I have everything merged in my SF2 mod folder (SF2+SF2V+SF2E). Added some modern planes and weapons and even included the Vietnam All-In-One mod. Since my laptop is not powerful, I was able to take out the sky mod of the Vietnam mod easily and settled with stock. I heard you can also build "stand-alone complete conversion mods" without making a copy of the whole game folder. Just create your <custom> mod folder and just copy the SF2.exe and change the name to <custom>.exe. Totally loving the new format and the modders agree (lots of effort being done converting stuff to SF2 standards these days). -

no mod folder second post for help
jomni replied to manlyman564's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Are you talking about decals? Decals go into a separate folder called "Decals" in the same level as "Aircraft". Then inside the Decals folder there should be a directory of the same name as the aircraft. Inside these folders are squadron folders with the decal files in them. -
Super Hornet Package for SF2 v4.1

Took the plane for a spin. It was pleasant but have to get used to the asymmetric fuel tank config. BTW, the red AOA light turns into a white box. -

Great! I'll be downloading this soon. Another modern jet to add to my collection. But no modern red jets to shoot at. Waiting for official SF2 versions (and also NF4+). -
moving from WOE to SF2 Eur

Just to breifly answer the thread starter's queries... Yes most will work but not seamless. Some tweaking is needed for the WOX generation mods to work properly. -

Agree, but I still keep coming back to the old classics (I'm now playing Delta Force 1, and Armored Fist 3, lol!). For some reason, they have better gameplay. Graphics those days were not so good so developers concentrate on the total experience. These days, most developers spend more time doing graphcis than fixing gameplay thinking that eye candy adds to experience. It does to some extent, but looking deeper, you don't see anything. -
Better Widesky SF2 series compatible?

nice. but my laptop can't handle modified skies without a FPS hit. :( -
SF2:E, very limited singles selections.
jomni replied to Spectre_USA's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I've flown single mission as MiGs against 3rd party F-5s (actually a favorite of the mission generator for some reason) in the 60s and 70s. I've also flown as MiGs against 3rd party EF-2000 in 2000's. It depends on the era and the proportion of stock vs. 3rd party. And now, since there are country limitations for each plane and country limitations for each map, then single mission possibilites are now limited. The Desert map of SF2 will be the most diverse since the map has no country limitaions unlike Vietnam (very limited) and Europe (slightly limited). The new limitations are implemented because of the merged install concept such that Vietnam single missions will still feel like Vietnam, etc. -

Taking off from the mountains of Thailand... Are clouds supposed to be this low? (I'm using the SF2V All-In-One mod) I wasn't able to find the runway on the way back. -

That's why I don't play much of the newer FPS because my PC can't handle it. I'm quite happy that Thirdwire sims don't need a super computer to play. Once TK starts doing what FPS people are doing, then it will be a very sad moment for me. (Time to buy a more powerful computer?) For this sim, obviously the little people (those who cannot afford top of the line hardware) are the winners. Something we don't see often these days. -
EF-2000 Eurofighter SF2
jomni replied to Brain32's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Took it for a spin. Flew a sweep mission 2 vs. 8 (MiG-21). Got all the bandits without a loss. Nice bird. I'm liking this more than F-22 now. Before I forget, I didn't have any afterburner effects when installed out of the box. -

Flight sims concentrate more on getting the flight physics correctly which involves a lot of computation power when you want accuracy. Unless you want something like HAWX. -
Updating Older Planes to SF2 Standards
jomni replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Just a suggestion which I think some of you are already doing. With the new folder structure, you can actually conveniently include the required non-stock weapons in the package. At least including the one required in default loadout schemes.
