  1. Take note that in his original post, he mentioned to be flying as Vietnamese. So he is actually trying to make life easier for himself.
  2. so did it solve your problem? Even if you have DX10 it does not mean you're updated. And WOE needs dx9. It's not built for Vista and dx10. Your dx10 maybe updated but not your DX9 (I believe they co-exist independently). And make sure you get your directories correct. Different install directory between CD and downloaded versions. The patch is following the new standard install directory used in the download versions.
  3. thanks for the tip. also having the problem. but why is it set that way in the first place?
  4. His first problem is about directX. New updates for the game need new directX versions. So you need to update. His second problem is about .ini. Once patched, it makes it default so all mods will be gone. Best way is to uninstall, install, and install the mods. Nato Fighter installers point to different directions of the drive by default so you should manually direct them to the right folders.
  5. Quick question. When you create a mission from Vietnam map, will the reds automatically become Vietnamese?
  6. I was able to put the Bombing Range terrain in SF2.
  7. Which view do you prefer? F1 or F2? I play using F1 (with TrackIR) so that I can see the pipper and the target clearly. But I long for the field of view that F2 provides (see all mirrors, gagues that I can't read anyway, and more sky). I'd like to know what's more practical and why? And for those who fly real jets, what's the more realistic view?
  8. FALCON 4 and Vista?

works fine with me but I use Vista and Nvidia.
  9. you should start a tutorial sticky or something.
  10. Probably a common occurence: I get hit by a friendly sidewinder while chasing a MiG.
  11. But the F16A's don't carry sparrows in the first place. Am I wrong to say this?
  12. H.A.W.X.

Yes, the deadzone in my stick makes it less responsive but turning is more controlled even when stick is pulled hard. Rather have the dead zone in my joystick than the ultra sensitive PS3 analog sticks. :P
  13. Patching a modded install will bring some of the .ini files to default. Good luck on your search for weapons.
  14. H.A.W.X.

Yeah the game's ridiculous but I'm enjoying. Think of it as a sci-fi arcade shooter. :D Found out that my Saitek Cyborg EVO works with the PS3! It's just plug and play. And it has all the buttons to emulate the PS3 controller. But there are some quirky button configs that you can't change though.
  15. i was a skeptic but now a convert. :D
  16. I'd rather have the detailed mission creator.
  17. H.A.W.X.

I'd like to reiterate the crazy flight model of this game. There's just no loss of speed when turning. Speeds rarely go below 1000 km/h even with constant banking and turning. And I don't recall any blackouts. These planes have the flight model of UFO's! Ace Combat has a better feel of flying in my opinion (not totally realistic but good enough).
  18. Ace Combat 5 had carrier ops. Ace Combat 4 had mid air refueling.
  19. H.A.W.X.

Bought the game since there's no Ace Combat for the PS3 (no Xbox here). I'd give it a 7 out of 10. Most scores for graphics (terrain only. jets don't look good) and the fun factor. But it's totally arcade with little hint of reality aside from the visuals and the names of the jets. No noticeable difference in flight model. All are agile! Ace Combat has better flight physics. Weapons are too many. Even Ace Combat has less weapons which will eventually run out. I'd like to commend the missile evasion features because it adds to the fun factor. Aside from the positive points I mentioned, it's just average. But I see myself playing more of this than Killzone 2 in the days to come because I'm a flight junkie.
  20. H.A.W.X.

so how is it? they're justifying the arcade mechanics like assisted flight because it's set in the future.
  21. Good luck guys i'm a fan of the series. I suppose this is for SFP1. I have SF2 but I guess it will work as well after some tinkering.
  22. Still no weapons editor available so old custom weapons are not yet ready for porting. Terrain and campaigns can be ported easily. I already loaded up "Red Wings Over Dhimar" campaign and the target range terrain. My current scheme is that I play SF2 (and all future SF remakes) "as is" and only add some planes for fun (particularly unlocking the red planes). For all total coversion mods, I still use the old games (which I make several copies of in the HDD).
