F-111 Weapons Delivery...
jomni replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Haha! Nice one. But I'm not talking about the F-111 and Desert Storm in particular. I'm more curious how they did it without CCIP in NAM. Sorry for hijacking the F-111 thread and caused some confusion. I guess I'll just practice and see what works. Thanks! -

Using Radar Guided Missles?
jomni replied to Flegmatica's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Great news. I assumed you're playing SF2 and not SFP1. Did not read post #16 properly. -
F-111 Weapons Delivery...
jomni replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I am aware they a high drag bombs. I want to know when to start releasing the snakes (distance from target, positioning of target relative to HUD, salvo interval, etc.). -
Using Radar Guided Missles?
jomni replied to Flegmatica's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ok so you can't get the yellow diamond. And you know how to operate the radar since you played other TW games. The operation is exactly the same. Maybe you should report this to Thirdwire in their forums. -
Using Radar Guided Missles?
jomni replied to Flegmatica's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ok. Red box is only the visual lock. Your radar picks up the enemy plane as signified by the dot in your radar screen. You need to manually lock the enemy plane by pressing 'Home' (select radar targets) then press 'Insert' (lock target). Once locked you get a yellow diamond. boresight mode automatically locks the plane in front of you. When you fire, make sure that you have the target locked until the missile hits. -
F-111 Weapons Delivery...

What is the proper delivery solution for snake eyes? I'm not too experienced in using it. -
I want to flip sides (play as reds) in SF2. My plan is: 1) Extract the campaign files and create a clone 2) Switch force alignments (from FRIENDLY to ENEMY and vice versa) in campaign_data.ini 3) Change some red squads to fly my custom red planes in campaign_data.ini 4) Change Service in campaign.ini 5) Identify flyable squads in campaign.ini Did I miss out on anything aside from changing the win/loss/stall screens and text? I'm also thinking if the resulting campaign will be balanced.

Flipping Sides in Strike Fighters 2 Campaigns
jomni replied to jomni's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
For some reason, the campaign that I flipped does not work. I cannot select soviet squadrons despite setting them up in the .ini. But It's ok, I loaded up Red Wings Over Dhimar Campaign and made a little tweaking and it works. I think playing the early campaigns as reds is balanced since BVR technology is still not much used. -
First of all, I read the Knowledge Base. What I did is to d/l the ready-made stuff then saved cockpit directory and cockpit.ini under the Saved Games\Thirdwire\Objects\... directory. I then included a line in the plane.ini that points to cockpit.ini. When I try to fly, I get CTD at around 90% of the loading screen. What's wrong? Do I need to extract the plane_data.ini? Has anyone done this in SF2 already? Thanks.

Eternal dilemma: CH VS. Saitek for HOTAS
jomni replied to SGCSG1's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
Ever since I got my Saitek Stick I never did fiddle with the profile software. In-game config seems to do the job already. I think profile software is for old games with no way of changing button config in-game like EECH. -
Strike Fighters 2: How to unlock red planes
jomni replied to jomni's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
So many views but no answer. Anyway, I figured it out already. I need the plane_data.ini in the directory as well. Got to unlock my stock migs already. :) -
Point of Interest To the Thirdwire Community
jomni replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
OT: just curious. what's the daily download limit/cap for free accounts? I haven't downloaded anything from the site yet. -
Using Vista here. I am able to add custom planes to SF2 in the User\Save Games\Thirdwire\StrikeFighters2\Objects directory. But some 3rd party aircraft have custom sounds and afterburner effects. Where do I save these? And should I edit any .ini files? I end up flying the plane without sounds and afterburner effects. Thanks.

Strike Fighter 2: where to put afterburner effects and custom sounds?
jomni replied to jomni's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Thanks. This should get me going. Can you just put cockpits to make the stock planes flyable? -

Questions about Strike Fighters-2
jomni replied to gray_feathers's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You must be fiddling with the Default control profile. Try changing the name of the control profile then change the settings. That way all your setting will be saved under that name. Someone at TW forums said that SFP1 is conflicting so you need to remove than before you install SF2. But I dunno how the other game will affect SF2. -
Anyone noticed this post by TK...?

I will buy the next title even without the improvements. I just want more planes and campaigns. -
Strike Fighters Anime in the Works
jomni replied to ShinKazama88's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
you guys should have a hot female pilot like Kei Nagase in Ace Combat or the girl (forgot the name) in Area88 -
What's the message? What are your PC specs? Have you patched it up to the latest release 1.0.13? My game is running flawless since I bought it last week.
-
Here are my specs: Intel Core Duo 2GB RAM Nvidia GeForce 8400 Latest DirectX Drivers Falcon 4.0 AF Patched to 1.13 Why are the textures dithered and the models have low polygon count? I can only crank up the detail settings to 5 or 7 only. These are a far cry from the Falcon 4 screenshots I see around. What's wrong? how to max out the graphics?
-
Ok cranked up AA and AS and it indeed looked better. But I guess you need vertical pixels of more than 900 to get the best out of it. Looks like most reviews use 1280x1024. My widescreen can only go up to 1440x900. I'm totally content now.
-
My concern is that my graphics is not at par with that screenshot despite having a decent rig. I'll show you some when I get home. Makes me wonder how to get that result.
-
Could it be that all screenshots that I see around are taken using 1600 x 1200 resolution? I can only do 1440 x 900. It's a bummer how they concentrated on making the larger resolutions prettier as opposed to the lower ones. Other games are pretty in 1440 x 900.
-
Thanks for the comment Mig Buster. My problem is the polygon count. You can clearly see no round edges as compared to the screenshots. Changing skins is not the solution there. How to improve this? Is the seting for textures and models up to 5 and 7 max only? I'll paste a screenshot when I get a chance.
