Unfortunately for me BUFF, even with Patch 2 loaded, I am getting constant CTD's and Invalid Texture crashes. I really want to like this one, but I am having a real hard time of it. -Skater

Recieved it. Thanks a whole bunch Pete. First Looks... It looks a bit clunky at first glance. Interface is typical of Empire/Rowan software. Looks pretty much like Mig Alley. I like the way it flies and the gun modelling. However, the Spit turns like an F-16 and climbs like an F-15. This needs serious flight model tweaking. Aircraft models and world modelling (especially the clouds and water) are fantastic. Lots of CTD's and weird bug crashes. Looks to be hastily compiled when it was getting close to out the door. The Campaign mode is very complicated. Not the usual terms and icons and the interface is STRANGE with a capital S. I can't believe they shipped this without a printed manual. Rediculous! I am on the fence with this one, I can't tell if I like it or not, and that's not good... I can usually tell if I like a sim or not within 1 hour of playing it. Let's see how they do with patch 2, because patch 1 is still unplayable with all the CTD's and other bugs. -Skater

Hell, I'll take it. Might be fun to screw around with. I was not gonna but it, but for free it's worth a look and maybe even a review. -Skater

Ok cool it guys... Despite what many of our beliefs are or our feelings towards the homesxual lifestyle or behavior may be, this is not a place to call names, throw insults, or wield racial epithets. Lively discussion is one thing, voicing of opinions, fine... But outspoken hatred is another. The Iowa is a fine ship. And citizens of the Bay Area have been done a disservice by some petty legilators and self-serving politicians with an agenda... So what else is new? SSDD. But we will have no "fag-bashing" here. This one's locked. Open a new topic on this if you like, but lets leave the slurs out of the discussion. -Skater

Hmmpf... looks like the hook or the wire broke. No problem, the pilot will walk away, and the techs will fix the aircraft. Oh, BTW, the Navy also has the best trained aircraft mechanics <ducks head>. -Skater
-
No, that's where you have it backwards... Your RAF friend could not make it as a Naval Aviator, so he fell back on being a pilot. But, at least he's a fighter pilot. Royal Navy pilots are Naval Aviators. RAF pilots are not. Guess what Naval Aviators can land on runways or a carrier... In any weather. Pilots can only land on runways, and if the weather is too rough, they divert to an easier runway. At sea, there is only one place to land, weather be damned. Just for arguments sake, among the ranks of astonauts, the best trained pilots in the world, the overwhelming majority have been Naval Aviators (I am taking about mission commanders and mission pilots here, not the tech guys). -Skater

HA! Hell, the Navy does not even have pilots. We have Naval AVIATORS. Big difference my friend. Pilots are what your 50 year old in a Cessna is and the 17 year old in a Piper is, what the guy flying dixie cups from La Paz in a C-17 is, and just about any Air Force pilot of any nation is... Naval Aviators are a different breed. -Skater

I won't lock it down just yet, because it has not getten nasty. When and if it does, I'll lock it up. Up 'till now, everybody has been pretty civil. He may be wholly uninformed, but at least he's polite. :) -Skater

Again, you are talking complete nonsense. The pilots are happy, the ordies are happy, the maintenance guys are happy. Everybody is happy. The only guys I know that are a little teary eyed are the old retired F-14 pilots. Nobody I know in the Navy (And I am in the Navy, are you?) is sad to see the Turkey go. It was a great bird in it's heyday, don't get me wrong, beautiful aircraft... But it';s time is past. It's an analog aircraft in a digital world. -Skater

You obviously do not have a clue about what you are talking... The F-14 is not even in the same class as the Superbug. The Super Hornet is hands down a MUCH better aircraft in both capability and maneuverability. The Super Hornet also has a greater payload and a greater combat radius (moot point with IFR). Survivability wise, the Super Hornet is off the scale in comparison to the F-14. And lets not forget maintenance... For every hour the F-14 flies, it needs 28 hours of maintenance time. Compare that to the less than 4 for the Super Hornet... No comparison my friend. It is cheaper to fly and maintain 4 Super Hornets than it is to fly and maintain 1 F-14. The AIM-54 used to be the big stick on the block, but not anymore. It is not a capable missile against highly maneuverable targets. That was a major factor in the Navy retiring the missile some 10 years before they retired the F-14. The AIM-120C-4 (and later variants) are the most capable medium range missiles in the world. 94% of all engagements in the last 20 years have been in the medium to short range arena. Well inside of the AIM-54 envelope. At that point, the AIM-54 is a 1500lb. piece of ballast. The F-14 can carry 6 AIM-120's at best, the Super Hornet can carry 12 (not a very operational load, but it is possible). Please, if you want to make jokes and uneducated comments, when doing so, put a smiley in the post. That way, no one will attempt to take you seriously. Because obviously, what you have said so far, is a complete joke. -Skater

What sim is that from? -Skater

Spoken like a guy who has never been around one, or seen one, or worked on one, worked with one, or flown one... Because anyone who has done even one of those things I have just laid out, has a completely different opinion. The Super Hornet is an AWESOME tactical aircraft. That's not boasting, that is fact. -Skater

Tim, this is just plain frickin' awesome! Still, there needs to be a recognizable logo though. -Skater

Hey Fatboy, how about making the spade on that card in desert camo. Hmmm... not sure if I am supposed to be making suggestions here... -Skater

Very serious. I am running 2 Dell 2001FP Ultrasharps and my desktop is set to 3200x1200. I'll try to do something with those resolutions though. Post them in the Screenshot Image Gallery. It looks like that area of the file area is back up 100%. Thanks much BB. -Skater

I have a question for both Bananabob and Squibby... Can you guys post those pics in two native resolutions for me? I need 1600x1200 and 3200x1200. These pics need to be my desktop pics! :) You can post them in the Screenshot Image Gallery -Skater
