There is now a new addition to my personal crew... Please welcome Caitlin Rose Lynch. She was born at 19:34 on 12/17, and she was 5lbs. 15.4oz. and 19.75" in length. She is absolutely beautiful. Soon, with the proper flight instruction, she will be kicking your a$$es soundly. Give a big smile to the targets Rosie... -Skater

Thanks to all... As for pics, I'll post a couple. She was 5 weeks early, so she' hooked to gadgets to help her breathe, drain fluid from the lungs, etc. But she's a strong girl, and she should be sans machinery in a few day at the most. If you look closely you can see how fresh these pictures are, literally an hour or so after her birth. You can tell because the ink from the footprints is still wet on her feet. She's a cutie, and she'll be just fine real soon. -Skater

Chief, I want you to call yor local cable company and see if they have broadband access. If you are ble to get cable service, you should be able to get broadband via cable. Call and check, and if they don't have it yet, ask when they will. I hope you can get fast service at some point, because dialup just plain sucks. :) -Skater

First 5 responders to this topic get a gmail account with 1GB of storage. All I need is a first name last name and a working e-mail address and you got an account. -Skater
-
Seawolf and Utley... I'm still waiting for one of you to post a first and last name... -Skater
-
PG, utley and Seawolf posted their info first, but they left out the name info. What I meant by my post was that the first OF THOSE TWO that posts the info I need gets the account. Sorry. They'll give me another six accounts to give out soon. Hey, maybe Nesher has an account invite to spare. -Skater
-
Ok, well... 4 responders. I have one left. Seawolf and utley, gmail requires a first and last name as well as an active e-mail address in order to send the invite. gmail is, right now, by invite only. The first one to post that info, gets the last account I have available. -Skater

Nope. Works forever. -Skater

Skater replied to darkpresence=JW='s topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
OK, let's all calm down and bring the tone down a bit or this one's gonna get locked up real fast. Looks like a genuine and lively debate, and I don't want to stifle that, but drop the name calling, or I'll have to pull the plug. -Skater -
Dream on ! Yankees Rule! BTW, when did MN decide to put Israelis in bondage? KIDDING! :) I just thought your statement sounded funny. -Skater

Foo, I spent alot of time in the Navy, I'm not going to wait in any freakin line. And I'm too F'ing cheap to spend $5, let alone $79.99 for a crappy video game. I am not above satire on our political system, the problem is that most of the "satire" on Bush is not funny and just plain mean. What SNL did to both Ford and Carter were classic, after Reagan was in office SNL started to get mean and nasty. Even the attempts at Clinton were bordering on disrespect. Dont get me wrong I disliked Clinton with a passion, but thereis funny and there is mean. Most political "humor" is mean. Well said, and unfortunately, very true. -Skater

Concerning Kerry's SS award... And I am in no way demeaning his valor or service under fire... I have seen BSV's awarded for doing much more. I simply do not see the rationale in the awarding of the SS in the citation script. Then again, there were times during that war that we were giving away BSV's and the like as if they were crackerjack prizes. Many a current General or Admiral have stretched the size of their boards with some erroneous awards. I have seen DSM's awarded to supply officers. I know a particular Navy Supply Corps. Flag Officer that has three of them, all from service as a REMF at Da Nang. Go figure that one. Now to clarify, regardless of merit, Kerry did serve in Vietnam, with honor and valor. He does have an SS, a BSV, and 3 PH's. No matter how or what he did to get them, or how long he was in country, he served in COMBAT, under DIRECT FIRE, to get them. This much is not in dispute. That kind of service is to be commended no matter how you feel about the man personally or politically, for it is MUCH MORE than most people in this country did at that time. Less than 1% of this country served in Vietnam. Far less than that were awarded medals of valor for their service. Now, while I do not like Kerry for President, and I'm not too thrilled with his politics or voting record, I RESPECT and THANK him for his service to our Nation. -Skater

The MOH (it is not the CMOH) is an national military award, not a Navy award. The Navy Cross is a Service specific award. But anyway, the Navy's second highest award is the DSM. However, the DSM is not Valor specific, it can be awarded for other reasons. I dopn't know what their rationale for calling the SS the "Navy's second highest award", but if they are talking specifically about awards that can only be awarded for "Conspicuous gallantry or valorious performance in the face of the enemy...", then yes, the SS is the second highest award. -Skater

'Nuff said MJ. I just have one thing to say to those that helped you make this decision... You guys just could not leave well enough alone. Everything had to be your way or no way, and now you got just what you wanted... No Way! No political threads at all now. Everybody wins. Yayy! You bitch about any thread that is not pro this candidate or pro that candidate. Then you bitch when the thread gets locked. You don't want to have a discussion or a debate (civil) about your opinions, you want a podium. Stupid. Just so stupid... And now, it's done. Thanks guys. -Skater
-
Ok, that's enough, from both sides. It started out in jest, and was funny, but then it started to get nasty, as these type of topics usually do. Pretty disturbing that you guys thought this was appropriate postings on September 11 though... That being said, this topic is closed. Both sides need a breather. -Skater
-
Agreed. This is getting out of hand. Let's try to be more civil next time gentlemen. Topic closed. -Skater

Ummm... I don't know what war on terror you have been following, but we've killed a whole lot more than 2000 in Afghanistan alone. Kill totals however, are not an indicator of "winning" the war. Kill totals in Iraq are already over 20,000, just so you know. In afghanistan, it is somewhere around the 8,000 mark. It's a pretty macabre stat, but if that's how you view winning, then we are definitely winning. In 1993, in Somalia, we killed more than 1500 in 30 hours (Blackhawk Down). This was with a force of just over 100 men with no tank or air, or Apache support. Do you really think we would not be DECIMATING the enemy with all of our assets committed? Do you think the Iraqi Army would have been defeated so quickly with only 2000 casualties? Be realistic! In short, when it comes to killing the enemy, we are KICKING ASS! -Skater

and by extension yours...you a lucky Man Chief..sounds as if you not only have a wife but a HelpMate, thats a real good combination..Good for you! ARE YOU KIDDING???? His wife can do PLUMBING! That f'ing rocks! I HATE doing plumbing honey-do's. Having a wife who can do it herself while I get to watch the game and drink some beer is PRICELESS! I would kill for a wife like that. No, I am seriously not kidding... I'd kill at least three people for something like that. Name 'em... they are toast. I'm telling you... -Skater
