  1. HI Guys, I'm still having graphics problems in WOV, the problem is stuttering. When in cockpit view if I pitch down, roll, turn hard, loop or split s its shows up the most. Aswell as the stuttering there is a strange horizontal blur in the middle of the screen across the terrain that travels with the line of sight. Its as if whatever type of texture rendering/filtering cant catch up with the rate which the terrain is moving. Below is a list of everything i've tried Hardware changes, Tried my new Nvidia GTS 250 and my old ATI HD4850 its less with the ATI card but still there. Replaced my motherboard from an Asus P5KPL/1600 to a P5Q SE2 suspecting a northbridge/southbridge failure but no change. Replaced my power supply from Hiper 580w to a Corsair 750w, no change Replaced my Seagate harddrive with a Samsung 7200rpm 16mb cache harddrive suspecting write speeds had dropped but no change CPU and motherboard temps are all fine and my E8500 core2duo benchmarked at 3.177ghz standard clock Tried it with and without my wireless and sound pci cards no change Software changes Fresh install of WOV works until patched to oct08 Tried WOV, WOE, Microsoft Feb, ATI and Nvidia direct x packages but no change Fresh install of Windows XP Pro SP2 no change Any flightengine.ini mod I could find no change Any Vietnamseadata.ini I could find makes it worse or better Green hell mod version 1 and 2 its worse with 2 Every combination of Nvidia settings I could think of including Nhancer, its better with everything turned off but not gone completely 180. and 190. versions of the Nvidia drivers no difference between them If there are no objects on the terrain then I have no stuttering, but there is still the strange blurred line. I only play WOV, WOE and IL2 1946. The problem is also in IL2 if I fly near any ground objects however I dont have the problem if I run it in OPEN GL. I'm also aware that there has been issues with older games and Nvidia's recent drivers. Does anyone have anymore ideas about what I could try even if its experimental drivers. I've tried all of them on Nvidias website archived under the GTS 250. Thanks in advance for any help, Ross
  2. The blue tiger patch solved the problem if i'm using mt ATI card, however if I put my Nvidia card back in the weird horizontal blur is gone but I still have a stutter. Is this likely to be the problem with the newer Nvidia drivers being incompatable with older games?

Hi Guys, While trying to rewrite the targets.ini for WOV to make a more thinned out environment so campaigns run smoothly, my WOV install developed a constant stutter which would only go on the absolute lowest settings. The only thing I changed was I backed up my mods and did a fesh install of WOV pacthed to oct08. I also installed a new graphics card upgrading from a PALIT ATI Radeon HD4850 512mb upto a PALIT Nvidia GTS 250 1024mb. First of all I tinkered with the flightengine.ini etc and the new graphics card settings with no success. I tried a fresh install, no success. I took all my computer components apart, cleaned out any dust, checked for loose connections and renewed thermal compound, no change. Then I repartitioned my hard drive and freshly installed XP. I installed my Nvidia graphics driver, installed the basic WOV off the disk. The game worked perfectly at high settings. However, I then patched it to oct08 and it would barely run the medium graphics settings, I did all of the above again with the sept08 patch but the same happened. Can anyone give me an idea of why my computer would run this game modified patched to oct08 on high settings for 18 months. Then, suddenly develop a stutter and only able to run the game as it comes off the disk, what does the patch change to cause these problems. Any help appreciated, Cheers Ross
  5. Sorry Fubar I didn't answer you about the directx, before I reformatted with a fresh install of XP I tried 4 different version of directx. The one with WOV, the one with WOE, the ones that came with the graphics card and the recent 10,02,2010 ones none made any difference. I tried installing WOE again and it wont run that patched or unpatched on anything other than low settings. I don't think its a software problem as it seems to be deteriorating.
  6. Thanks again for the reply, The asus mobo does have an ICH7 controller and now you mention it, it is too hot for me to put my finger on for over a couple of seconds. The trust sound card drivers arn't up to date but I went further and uninstalled and removed it disabling onboard sound and I still have the problem. The Netgear wireless PCI card is in PCI slot 3 on IRQ 21 with no conflicts. My computers spec hasn't changed in 18 months untill I upgraded my graphics card. Do you think my psu might be giving up under the extra load. It says the card requires a 550w supply but I couldn't find any info regards the amps, I hoped that 580w at 38a would be ok. Or do you think it a coinsidence. I also installed a temp monitor for cpu,gpu,mobo. CPU is at 36, mobo 37, gpu 38. Thanks again for the help so far

Hi Fubar, Thanks for your reply, my system specs are as follows, Intel Core2duo E8500 3.16ghz Asus P5KPL/1600 motherboard 2 x 2gb ddr2 PC2-6400 ram Trust SC-5200 soundcard Palit Nvidia GTS250 1024mb Graphics card Netgear wireless PCI card Hiper 580w PSU 2x12v at 18a At first i thought I thought my psu might be beginning to fail, thats why i've tried to eliminate any other possibility.   8. Hi Guys, I have been running WOV with my own thinned out campaign and thinned out AAA in VietnamSea with Green Hell at medium detail for a while now with no major problems. The only problem I ever had was the fact that when in any campaign on a strike mission up north when the bombs dropped my FPS went from around 40 down to 5 until the bombs stopped dropping. I've been getting round this by thinning out the campaign planes and terrain AAA without losing the games atmosphere. While I was getting through it, it seemed like a good idea to upgrade my GPU memory in my ATI HD4850 512mb upto 1024mb. This week I got a Palit Nvidia Geforce GTS 250 1024mb card as a birthday present. Although now my problem on campaign mode is pretty much gone and my FPS are around 55-60 and dont go lower that 15 i've picked up a weird problem. I get a pause for a millisecond every 3 seconds, the terrain itself seems to stutter slightly. If I turn my ground objects down to low effectively cancelling out the green hell objects the problem goes away. Is this card simply not compatible as i've spent all day trying every different setting on the card. Its really weird because its there whether i'm flying high or low straight and level, pulling hard turns or even flying though debris and explosions, its just a constant nuisance in the background.   9. HI Migbuster, Yeah I know about the dual core thing but when I built this rig I got the E8600 for a steal. I tried the latest nvidia driver but no change unfortunately. I did try the enb mod, I used version 1.01a from hear but it actually dropped my fps by a few. This evening I put my ati card back in and the problem was the same. I'm sure I didn't have this problem a few days ago but i've been doing a lot of swapping and changing in the vietnamsea terrain file and i've obviously upset something to do with the green hell mod that comes with the gold pack. While i'm on the same subject can anyone recommend what settings in nvidia control would be best for WOV. Cheers from Ross
  10. Hi Guys, I've done a custom merge of my own WOV install and the Gold WOV. I've kept my aircraft and campaigns, placed golds new target areas and target types in my VIETNAMSEA terrain and also placed gold ground objects and gundata in my objects folder. The problem I have now is when in a campaign on CAS mission I have AAA showing up in place of ground units. It didn't happen before I used Golds ground units. However I put my old ground units folder back in the game and the AAA disappeared. The problem is after that I got my ground units folders mixed up. Now I have golds in my game folder and i've lost the old one. Does anyone know why AAA would show up instead of VC_Squad, NVA_Squad, T-54, US_Squad and M60A1 when using golds objects only in campaign. Any help appreciated, Cheers
  11. Hi Guys, Don't worry about this one anymore, Managed to get round it I left NVASmallARms as the only MOBILE_AAA in my groundobjects folder. Now there is always a few NVA firing back, makes a nice effect. Thanks for your help guys.
  12. Everything that is labelled as AAA that is in the object folder is appearing within the ground units. I have about 30 different types of AAA in a mods folder I collected and i've tried all of them. At the minute I have KS-19 and ZSU-23 loading but even if I just put KS-19 which is a very un mobile piece of AAA it will load it. Its obvious the problem isn't with the AAA as its the same for every piece of AAA. I've tried AAA from a WW2 era install and a Desert Storm install. Its seems to be something about the ground units that came with GOLD that mean it has to have AAA with it. I'm really stumped!
  13. HI Eric, Thanks again for your reply, unfortunately I've already set all my AAA to STATIC_AAA, I even deleted the movement system entry! AAA still get loaded along with the ground units and in some cases instead of ground units. If I remove AAA completely then the ground units load as they did before. If friendly AAA units are labelled MOBILE_AAA will the game force enemy AAA to be loaded even if they were designated static?
  14. It happens in Linebacker 1 and 2 aswell as rolling thunder they are my own version of the s ut i've been using them for a while and they worked fine with my old objects folder. Its happening for both sides friendly and enemy. ALso its not like I get one whole group of the ground unit type. The AAA is mixed in with it. Thanks for the replies guys.
  15. Target types is mainly from the mod, the entries for any artillery, AAA or ground units such as VC_Squad etc are exactly the same. The weird thing is it doesm't happen in single mission, its only in campaign. Its almost as if something in the game won't load the amount of ground units I have entered in the campaign so replaces them with AAA. Its got me stumped> I dont think its terrain related as when I used my old ground objects folder it worked fine. Unfortunately due to it being late and having a bottle of JD open I copied the GOLD objects folder back into the game directory without removing my old objects folder first. D'OH!
  16. Hi Guys I have a strange problem with my graphics in WOV. When I fly in a campaign and any mission goes up north where a lot of strikes are taking place I get a massive FPS hit when any large group of aircraft particularly B52's drop there bombs. By leaving my plane on auto and watching others it seems to be from the moment just before they are released to the moment just after they hit. My computer specs are as follows and i've always flown on single missions with my graphic setting to medium, mirrors and reflections off and my resolution at 1600x1200x32, i've never had a stutter problem before, its only on campaign when i'm around Hanoi. Intel core2duo E8500 @ 3.16ghz 3.5gb ram Palit Ati Radeon HD4850 512mb GP When I first got this problem I tried a lot of things to attempt to solve it. I deleted all modified sky effects, I deleted all modified explosion and smoke trail effects I edited the targets and reduced the sams up north by 3/4's I edited the campaign aircraft to 20 US squadrons with 8 planes each I used textures with reduced resolutions None of the above caused any difference, the only thing that helped was reducing the planes and removing MK82 snakeyes from strike loudouts. The only thing that removes the problem completely is reducing my resolution to 1600x1200x16, I can also have all my graphics settings on high when I do this but my horizon, water and clouds look terrible.Can anyone tell me why having graphics on 32bit and lots of planes dropping bombs would clash, I don't get it because it works when I have a lot of planes firing missiles and I get FOX1 etc constantly. My second question is can you limit the amount of planes launched at once against a similar area through an ini edit. That would solve my problem perfectly as at the moment I gave almost every plane with strike capability launching at once when I go up north. If anyone got as far as here thanks for reading this. If you want to keep this feature change the ground object role of your AAA to artillery. If you dont want to keep it simply change AAA from target type 56-60 from MISC to AAA and it will run the same as before.   18. I think I may have solved the problem, it seems to be simply the amount of AAA and sam sites up north that causes the FPS hit in campaign due to the additional aircraft. After reducing the amount of planes and removing certain weapon types like MK82SE the FPS hits got a little better. So then I removed my sams out of the ground objects and it got a little better still. However with all the sams and all the aircraft but the AAA removed it went completely. No stutters whatsoever, thats on medium settings 1600x1200x32, using razbam tiles with the green hell mod, all effects mods and high res skins. So I spent a few hours thinning out the target list up north. I gave each area one sam site, and halved the AAA for each area keeping it spread evenly. The amount of planes in my campign are still thinned out but on a strike mission up north I get about 50-60 planes at once. It doesn't seem to have taken anything away from the game either, I still see multiple sams launching, the sky still has areas full of flak bursts and I still get my thud riddled with tracers diving in on a target. I think WOV suffers more FPS hits over other wings over games because it seems that only the vietnam terrain has such a concentration of AAA in one place and anything other than a high end computer just cant cope with it. I'd still like to get a 1024mb nvidia card, can anyone suggest which one would be best? Thanks from Ross

  20. HI there, Can anyone tell me what software is required to edit .LOD files. I'd like to alter the F-100 cockpit in WOV to have a visual RWR insteard of one of the instruments or even place it over the top of one. I know it wouldn't be accurate but its the closest i'd get to simulating the F-100F wild weasel missions and be able to find sam sites. Any help appreciated. Cheers from Ross

  22. Hi Guys. Is there a way to modify radar tracking AAA like the ZSU-23-4 to show up on the RWR when it locks onto you. I've tried everything with both ZSU-23-4's and ZSU-57's even linking them with SON9A radars via "networktype=AAA" but they simply wont show up on the RWR or provide a target for shrikes. However my AI wingmen can engage them with shrikes. The guns do fire at me but with no RWR warning. I've been trying to build a lot of small NVA camps along the Ho Chi Min area of the map and I wanted to arm them with radar guided guns that would give off a RWR warning. I have heavily modified the targets.ini and target types.ini I did this to modify Sead mission so that only Sams and radars were the targets. I've done this by seperating all AAA into AAA1-AAA7 and setting target type as MISC then selecting the type of AAA using "Groundobjecttype=ZSU-23" for example. SON9A's are under GUNRadar, Early warning radar is set as Barlock and under EWR. Would this alteration to the targettypes.ini effect the way the ground objects function? or is all that down to the specific ground objects data.ini? Any help appreciated, cheers from Ross

Hi Fubar, Thanks for the reply, i'm not reallly trying to integrate the ZSU-23-4 specifically into WOV I was just using it as a guide as when I fly WOE desert storm (patched to oct08) ZSU-23-4 and SON9A radar guided guns show up on my RWR when they track me. In WOV (patched to oct 08) they dont. Is there any way I can get radar guided AAA guns to show up on the RWR when they are tracking me. Also were radar guided guns of this type used in vietnam and if so what type? Please excuse me i've seen too many films and i'm only beginning to read the history books. Thanks from Ross
  24. HI There, I've got WOV patched to oct 2008 using the razbam tilset for vietnamsea. I'm trying to build a proper airbase at Khe Sanh. I've got the terrain editor from 3rdwire and i've managed to level the terrain and place the neccesary runway and objects. However the terrain list that came with the editor didn't have the airbase tile "vietnamj-ab1" listed so I added it via the editor. However when I place it, it shows up on the terrain editor map but not in the game. The tile that shows up in the game is the next one up listed in the terrain list? Can anyone tell me where i'm going wrong. Thanks from Ross
