  1. You can open the .tga for the canopy in something like photoshop and lighten the shade or increase its opacity.

    My mate's got a CH fighterstick, throttle and peddles he uses for X plane. I think they are fantastic and i'm extremely envious but I can't justify the cost. I'm currently using a thrustmaster hotas setup, which I have to say is excellent for £30.00 no dead spots and the resistance on the stick is pretty good. However if I had the cash spare it would be CH products all the way
  3. To be honest I was an Nvidia faithfull. A few years ago I was dissapointed with a 512mb Ati 3850. I replaced this with a Nvidia 1gb GTS 250, then chasing more performance a GTX 260, a GTX 280 then a GTX 470. All of them were superb, then I had two faulty GTX 480's in a row and got put off. So I tried an Ati 2gb 6970, i've been really impressed with it. I really don't think there is much between the new generation of high end graphics card. If I ever wanted to upgrade I would consider either.
  4. Cliff11, thanks very much for sharing that, I was working along similar lines to you but couldn't remember exactly what the node was called for the sight. Works a treat with something like the F-100 gunsight. Try this for the positioning, Offset=0.0,-0.08,-0.0045 Position=-0.25,0.94,0.435 Thanks again mate.
  5. Hi SidDogg, From your description of the symptoms if its smooth but then choppy then smooth again I don't think it would be a coding/driver issue. Sounds like somethings getting too hot or maybe getting a little old. Cheers

  7. NIce stuff Cliff11, I was trying to find out how to put the hud glass from the A-6 back into this cockpit. I was reading up on the 0-2 and found some pictures of it with a sight glass. Havn't had any luck though.
  8. I've got an ATi 6970, no issue's whatsoever. Infact SF2 runs much much smoother with this than with my previous Nvidia GTX 470. Also you would be suprised just how much vram a modded install of SF2 will use if its available.
  9. HI Agostino, its the Vietnamsea terrain from the expansion pack but i've been adding/changing things for months now. I have thought about maybe uploading but its not quite finished and I havn't asked for permission from the team that worked on the Vietnam expansion pack.

  11. Sorry mate i'm rubbish at explaining these things. In a terrain you have placed objects that can use either objects in the terrain folder or objects from your groundobject folder. Each of these objects have there own distance set that they will appear in the game. DetailMeshSize does not refer to these. Detail mesh size refer's to .tod objects in the terrains folder. Each tile on the terrain has it own set of random buildings, huts, trees or bushes etc mapped onto the tile. Increasing the detailmeshsize increases how many tiles away from you these tree's etc are shown. For example detailmeshsize=6 means that when you are flying around you will see these trees and building etc upto 6km away from wherever you are in the game. Also in stock format TK's terrains don't have many of these tree and building .tod objects i'm talking about so if your using a stock terrain you won't notice the difference that much. Fly over Vietnam with something like Stary's GH3 mod installed and you will see what i'm on about. Cheers.
  12. I think! Each terrain tile is 1kmx1km square, it refers to the amount of tiles trees and city buildings show from wherever you are. The higher the number the more it impacts/reduces framerates as your pc need to cope with more objects. Setting this at 5-8 gives a nice look to the terrain any more isn't really needed. Hi, I've been working on tweeking the Vietnam terrains for a few months now, adding Khe Sanh, firebases etc. However i've hit a problem, I got upto 315 target area's and the game when loading gets to 100% then crashes. If I go back to 314 target area's the game loads fine. Very strange, is there a limit for either the amount of objects or the amount of target area's? If there is does anyone know of an .ini edit to get around it. Cheers
  16. Thanks for the replies, yeah I know 1200 objects is a bit overboard but a lot of that is the perimeter fence. I'm planning to lower it. Even the small FAC bases i'm working on got upto 414 objects. It worked fine up until I started putting in more sams and aaa. I had initially reduced them but thought i'd make a high/low version. The high version is what i'm getting the 100% crash in. I've calculated the objects in total for my Vietnam terrain and when I go over 21860 I get the crash. I'm going to have to go back through it and try to lower the objects in my new target area's. It's a shame as I thought they looked pretty good.
  17. Well i've spent the morning investigating this. There must be an object limit for the terrain. It works if I load it at "enemy air defence medium" or if I take out the objects below my "[targerarea314]". I can have as many{targetareaXXX} as I like its seems to be simply the amount of objects the game has to load into the terrain. I don't think having 1200 objects at Khe Sanh alone is helping!

  19. Thanks for all the help. Between the level airfield tool carefully used along with a zillion backups and the export/import tool edited in photoshop i'm finally getting somewhere. However I really wish the resolution of the bitmap was much much larger. Thanks again.
  20. Mmmm, I figured a much, i've made some more targets for the south in Vietnam. Firebases, dirtstrip FAC airfields, VC Camps with more detail. The only problem is the way objects sit on the terrain they don't look that great, due to being so detailed. I was hoping for a way to level 1sqkm. I did go through using the level airfield but it was only effective at 3x3km and this makes the terrain look a bit boxy. I was hoping for a way to random it up a bit around the edges I levelled. Is there any way to increase the resolution of the bitmap the terrain editor exports? Thanks for the quick response Wrench.
  21. I had this too in Vietnam Stary, I can't say exactly what I changed but I removed my custon.ini's from the flight folder and re-edited them with fresh ones from the CAT, seems to be ok now. Also if Hanoi sams are hitting your fps, I have a target file where i've given the sams there own target area. Did it ages ago so I could reduce the AAA and SAMS up north until my fps drop went. Wouldn't be hard to edit the targets to your liking.

  23. HI, Does anyone know if there is an O-1 birddog available as a placable ground object for terrains. I need an O-1, O-2 or OV-10 for a small FAC dirtdtrip i'm building for Vietnam. Alternatively does anyone know if you can specify an aircraft type in the airfield.ini for parking? I did attempt to convert the aircraft itself into a ground object but it didn't render correctly in the game, it appeard level, (not at the angle it would be if it was on its wheels) and half sunk into the ground. Any help appreciated, cheers.
