  1. I'm gonna try 258.96, Mike what screen and operating system are you using mate?
  2. Thanks for the reply. Yes I disabled vsync and enabled triple buffering in the nvidia control panel and set "ForceVSyncOff=TRUE" in the options.ini. It improved the tearing in level flight but it was still very obvious if you roll the aircraft. What setting are people that have smooth framrates below 60fps using?
  3. The relation between vsync and screen hetz seems like my problem. I disabled vsync and forced triple buffering in my nvidia driver but I still got tearing. However I discovered that with high settings, mirrors on and using an EO weapon over Haiphong in Linebacker 2 my fps dont drop below 48fps shown in game. Is there any way around this vsync problem i'm experiencing in SF2 because 48fps would look smooth. I dont really want to have to buy a screen that has a lower refresh rate. Cheers
  4. Literally if it drops off 59fps it stutters, if it gets to below 56fps it stutters really badly. Its been like this for ages, in fact i've changed graphics cards twice in this time I just never thought I had a problem until I read about others getting smooth gamplay as low as 30fps. It happens in all my SF2 titles which include SF2, SF2V and SF2E. I know its nothing to do with my mods as it happens with a vanilla install. I tried disabling vsync but then I have a kind of micro stutter. I mostly play camplaigns in SF2V and I thought the new multicore support would get rid of any fps drops, however it hasn't improved things that much. System specs, I5 760 @ 4GHZ 4GB DDR3 @ 1600mhz Gigabyte P55 UD6 Mobo GTX470 @ 800/1600/1860 HP 2210i monitor, 1920,1080 60hertz Mike are you still using your GTX 460, if so what drivers are you using?
  5. If you dont want the stock terrains to show up in say SF2V merged, extract the stock campaign folders into the SF2V mods folder, leave the .ini's in the campaign folders but point them to a terrain that doesn't exist in the campaignxxx.ini works for me. I have SF2V merged and its heavily modified to my own liking mine only shows the other stock terrains.
  6. HI, 1. The only way to get rid of the on screen radar is to extract the hud.ini 2. With the pre made modified installs like the SF2V expansion and nato fighters 4+ a weapons pack isn't necessary. However the mcgunny's weapons packs are made for the SF2 series. As for any other add on aircraft on here most come with the required weapons files. 3. The above expansion packs i've mentioned include any effect files needed, however if you use an aircraft for europe in for example vietnam you will need to copy and paste the effects into that games folder. 4. There is no other must have. SF2 has piecemeals exc3ellent Desert3 terrain, SF2E has Nato Fighters 4+, SF2V has the Vietnam expansion pack, SF2I has the war for israel pack. Install each one into the relative game folder and I cant think of much more you will need. Hope this helps
  7. Hi Guys, Can someone try this on there computer for me please. I have a problem if I fly a Mig for Nvietnam over the heavily populated area in the north ie Hanoi ect. The probelm isn't in game but if I press M to look at the map my game crashes. I get a DX10graphicsengine.dll error. I think its because there are too many labels on the map for AAA and sams. It doesn't happen if I fly a US plane. I just want to know if i'm chasing a game error or a hardware error. I think its something to do with haveing too many label. Thanks in advance
  8. Thanks for checking that for me mate. I found the problem, I'd changed some altitudes in the missioncontrol.ini. However in EXP2 TK have added some entries in the missioncontrol.ini regarding the map. All sorted now. Thanks again
  9. Hi Guys, I know everyone is probably taken up with the EXP2 bugs, however. While i'm waiting for the TOD files bug to be sorted on EXP2 I decided to fly a campaign in SF2V in South Vietnam, Steel Tiger or Easter Offensive. I noticed I wasn't getting assigned any CAS mission. I looked at the campaign file for ages tweaking the strategic nodes and ground object entries. Then I looked at the terrain files double checking my target entries against the campaign files. Then I loaded a seperate installation of SF2V but the Feb 2010 release. CAS mission worked perfectly. I updated it to June 2010, no CAS missions. The strange thing is I have SF2 and SF2E/NF4, CAS missions in campaign work fine. This problem is only in SF2V and the Steel Tiger/ Easter Offemsive Campaigns. I'm using window 7 and i'm letting the Feb 2010 version use the same user game folder as June 2010. Have the parameters for SF2V beem changed with the June 2010 release? I'd ask TK directly but i'm sure they are swamped with EXP2 bugs. Any Ideas because i'm stumped .
  10. It seems to be working fine now mate, thanks for the quick response and fix.
  11. Many Thanks Gregg, is the problem because the nodes dont end up at Hanoi/Saigon? I download that data file and see how its working.
  12. Thanks Malibu43, I can confirm there is no fault within the SF2 expansion relaeased here, neither with the Steel tiger or eastern offensive campaigns. With SF2V Feb 2010 it works perfectly, however in June 2010 CAS missions just dont happen, the ground units are there, they are even on the map in game/flight. They just dont do anything therfore there is nothing to provide CAS for if you get what I mean. I had a free day today and tried every variable I could thing of within the South Vietnam terrain and the campaign files, but no luck. Like I said installed a seperate Feb 2010 version of SF2V and it worked perfectly. Very strange. Its nothing to do with a merged install either. Thanks for the reply Malibu43
  13. I had that exact processor and GPU running in a Asus P5Q Deluxe. My E8500 was clocked to 4ghz without any issues. I only replaced it when I upgraded to an icore system. I tried a few LGA775 boards at that time and it was the best by far.
  14. Malibu 43 I completely know what you mean. I use to play all these games on easy and even tweak the ini's to my advantage. However I got bored of it being too easy. I tried it on normal with the origional ini's and found it so difficult it just wasn't fun anymore. I stuck with it though, I now have flightmodel, blackout, fuel usage, collision, ammo usage and landing on normal. But Radar dispay, weapons and visual targeting on hard. Enemy skill level is normal. I watched quite a few episode of dogfights which gave me a good idea on tactics and read a book called "air combat maneuvers" its written for people using flight sims to help them play them more realistically. Flying a phantom with no gun against a mig-17 is still difficult though.
  15. I've got it working on windows 7, some say install it outside program files. Mine works in both though. Are you thinking of buying IL2 1946?
  16. HI, I've had a quick look at the files but wanted to confirm before I started. I've got a copy of the Operation Desert Storm files made for SFP1. I now use SF2, is it possible to convert the files for use in SF2 are the mods/objects/aircraft available to do it? Also if I did this which version is best to use? Thanks Ross
  17. Hi Guys, I've only recently put together a merged install of SF2, SF2E and SF2V. Can I use add ons like NF4 and SF2V Gold in a merged install or will I get soviet aircraft appearing in vietnam and north vietnamese migs in germany etc etc. Cheers Ross
  18. Thanks wrench, I'll give it a go cheers.
  19. Ok thanks Dave is there a rough idea on when it will be released?
  20. New Rig Time, advice needed

Hi Mate, I've just bought i5 760 2.80ghz Gigabyte P55 UD6 Gskill 1600mhz cl8 ddr3 4gb Gigabyte GTX 470 Its being watercooled but I got 4ghz out of the i5 with 1.28 vcore. I didn't think it would be as good as it is, i'm really pleased and impressed with it. The only piece of advise I got when picking mine was not to skimp on the motherboard, buy the best one you can afford. Overclocked the i5 760 is brilliant. Bought mine from www.overclockers.co.uk fantastic prices, the mobo is in the clearance section.
  21. If the shop are willing to replace the chip then they must know something is wrong with what they did, repair shops dont just offer a free service. I'd take them up on it and see what happens.
  22. HI Mate, I've looked at your GPU log, if you scroll across to gpu load, then follow it down you can see a solid block of a few minutes where your gpu is operating at 99%. Your gpu's processing power is being maxed out. Either way your fps problem seems to be because your chip no longer has the processing power to run SF2 anymore.
  23. Sorry mate I stand corrected wasn't aware of that one. I still think its too convenient it started after the repair.
  24. If this problem arose after you had the chip resoldered on the mainboard. And you had the chip resoldered onto the mainboard because it was overheating I would say that is your culprit. Either the solder to repair the problem is untidy, or the chip could have been damaged and could have degraded. Unfortunately your using a laptop so you cant swap out parts to find the problem easily. I would take it back to the shop you had it repaired. If SF2V worked fine before the repair and the files wern't altered during the repair. Then something to do with this repair is at fault. I've heard of fps being slow, stuttering and dropping but I havn't heard of cycling like you describe. Its almost like the gpu is getting power and losing it then getting it back again and so on, sounds like a voltage drop thats fluctuating to me causing the gpu's performance to stall. Sorry I cant be of more help but if it was me i'd be going back to the shop.
