OT: Red Baron (the original)
OvS replied to Waldemar Kurtz's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yeah... we definitely have... ;) J12 above... J12 below. -
Man.. what the hell have I been missing!!

I saw the show and I didn't like it... well ... I it was a great show, but the guy talking acted like he single handedly found the thing. Terry (Makai) actually found it. He has a whole different angle on how it was found, nothing like what the show said. I'll let him tell you the story, but it annoyed me that you didn't see more of him, and that they didn't bring more attention to the HURL Team and all the great work that they do. OvS

Why do you put salt on the parts? I've never heard of that, but then again, I've never built anything on this level of detail... how the hell do you make all othe tubes and wires?? Keep it going and keep us posted! :) OvS

What's with the smiley face like you're joking about it?? I really did it. I would have smashed the thing into a million pieces somewhere around the wicker seat basket thing. Every time I see one of these model threads the detail levels these guys model at get higher and hihger. I can't get over how good the cables look. OvS

Not sure when these will be available, by Makai and I decided to revamp all the Fokker D.VII skins... starting with the OAW series. These are 4 variants, with one still in the shop. The Lozenge patterns were painstakingly researched by Makai and once completed I applied them to the templates that really brought out the look of this reveered aircraft. These represent our version of these colors. We did not follow any profiles. Most notable between the models are the cowlings, and access ports. Makai and I stuck to the Windsock profiles that Shred provided as we both created our respective projects. Bringing them together to form these wonderful planes will be a treat for us as well as you Fokker fanatics! Hopefully sooner than later, but we'll keep you updated. :) These photos are all 'unoffical'... so there are no official OFF emblems on them... In order of Appearance... Fokker D.VII OAW Mid-Production - Late Markings Fokker D.VII OAW Early - Spring/Summer lozenge. Fokker D.VII OAW Mid-Production - Alternate 'Fall' Lozenge - incorrect 5:4 Crosses applied. OvS

I used to play Squad Leader back in the day. Until Close Combat came out. Now the best game has to be Company of Heros. It's just too much funn to play a skirmish and slam the hell out of each other. SL took too long to set-up, and too many rules to play. It was terrible and often ended in arguments over who was going for the next case of beer. OvS

Ahh.... jeeze... you're right!! I forgot I loaded that ENB thingie... I was testing it when it was posted a few weeks back. Yes, that's the reason why. I'll turn it off and take some more shots of the new Fokkers... maybe tonight, we'll see what how the time goes. I've been so wrapped up in painting them, and getting my mind 'into being there', that I forgot I had that loaded. Thanks. OvS

No, I didn't calibrate. I might have my settings too low. Basically the shot I posted is just my PC settings... everyone's is different. I can say the same for a lot of games that I bought and ran and thought... well, this is different than the box. But really, the shot was more about the detail that is going into the D.VII, rather than the light shading of OFF. I'll boost up my gamma a little and see if it helps. OvS

Yes, it look like an Aviatik. Probably a B.1, which had no MG and was a very early war Recce plane. It had a seaplane version, but was not used for very long. The Rumpler and Albatros 2-seaters were far superior. OvS

OT Wings of Prey First Impressions
OvS replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Is it 'arena' style air combat? In other words, can you fly away from the action and fly all over the place? A lot of these high-end graphics games do that to save FPS. OFF's entire front is alive with movement the whole mission. OvS -
Re-skin the Fokker Family with Makai... Work on my '66 Nova that is now a dormant disaster in my garage. Get away from this desk... Feed the cat... look out the window... P90x etc...

Prince of Persia -- Greatest Hits
OvS replied to sammypetter's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hi there.. I think you might want to take this question somewhere better to be answered. Although we do a lot of off-topic stuff, it's usually still about Aviation.. now and then about old games, but again... usually their aviation related. Have a look around the I-net for a Prince of Persia forum. Thanks for stopping by, OvS -
I duuno... maybe like this.... The new Fokker D.VII OAW... soon... don't ask when. OvS

Yes, that's me.. I'm just there for consultation... and help to ask around for parts from old RB3D guys that I know. Basically they ask me... 'Where do I get this plane?', I say... 'From SWWISA member... XXX'. Etc. I have no artistic interest, or anything else other than seeing the old girl get a specific MMP make-over. I gave them rights to use my Hell's Angels patch, however they can, but they are really interested in having a full scale server catering to the massive Multiplayer of RB3D. Apparently, MMP is still alive and well, and should be as it can support 50+ players. Other than that, RB3D's SP is dead. I couldn't imagine trying to revive it being based on voodoo technology, and limited aircraft without using all kinds of add-ons and stuff. But hopefully, the guys in MMP will benefit from their efforts. :) OvS

one more.... Lady Passenger.... "I've gotta get outta... I'VE GOTTA GET OUTTA HERE!!!" Attendent: "Calm down... get a hold of yourself!" - shaking her... Man: "Stewardess, please, let me handle this..."... shakes her... "Calm down.... " smacks her.. etc.. Best is Leslie Neilson... slaps her a good one... looks back at Nun who is next in line telling him he's wanted on the phone... but goes for one more nice slap before he walks away... I loved this movie. Here's the trailer where you can see my two posts... plus enough to split your gut! OvS

Ground Staff... to Marshaller "Hey Larry... where's the Forklift?" "Forklift? It's over there...by the baggage loader " using the wands to point out the location.. ... in front of a taxiing 747... which then turns, and on his wand direction proceeds straight through the glass wall of the terminal. Classic! OvS

Jeeze.. and I thought maybe you had some kind of gastric-intestinal problem. I was ready to write a sympathy note to you ... bugger. OvS

LOL!! That's sooooo true. I burst someone bubble with that once... "so you were in a dusty old house, taking pictures on a paid-for, guided tour of a haunted house... and you think these are spirit orbs?? THEY'RE CLOSE-UPS OF DUST PARTICLES REFLECTING THE CAMERA FLASH YOU IDIOT!!! AND YOU PAID $250 TO GO ON THIS TOUR?!?!?!" OvS

I read it that way too Parky... 4 posts... nothing worth worrying about... not even an introduction.. shame.... uncleal loves newbies! I don't have to show my 'badge and gun' yet. LOL! OvS

Thanks, and no problem. Like Shre, I'm watching this thread, but at this point, I don't see any reason to close these subjects anymore, as long as it's not bashing and calling out any other Dev team... or beating each other up. That's tasteless and has no home here. @ Siggi.... Flight Simulator II, Jet, and F-15 Strike Eagle on C64... first go around for me. OvS

Hi all, By no means is this a definitive message to cover all bases, and it's not backed by OBD Software... this is just me being a moderator, and a member of a community soap-boxing a little. :) Anyhow, As the end of another year, and decade approaches, we can all look back and see where we were for the Y2K 'disaster', where we were for 9/11 and the Tsunami. But more importantly, we should look back and see where we have come as a community, working together to make this more fun for everyone. It takes a lot of well-focused and thoughtful people to drive a community, to grow it and to keep it alive, and I can say with experiance, that this one is one of the best! So with that... let's begin... First ... as I hold my virtual glass of the bubbly up high .... I'd like to thank Erik, Dave and the 'boys from CombatAce. Without their help, and a wing of compassion, the OFF Community might have been left out in the cold. So a big cheer for them, and a small one for Sim Outhouse for showing us the door. Second... a toast to OBD Software, yes.. to ourselves.. what the heck... for a uncountable (Ted it's too high a number) list of reasons... thanks for all the wonderful memories, hard work and perservernce in making OFF what it is today. 5 years coming this year I've been a part of it, have known some members for 10 now, and it's just been great! The game is awesome, and the memories and laughs even better. All the best! Now for some fun... I'd like to single out some members for some 'awards'.... 1. Most helpful and dedicated - no doubt this one was tough, so I'll make it fair.. 2 guys deserve this. One of them for their dedication to the MP side, the other for his dedication to the overall community. Ohlam's dedication to recognizing as many OFF pilots around the world in itself is a momumental task, but he does it without complaint, and keeps it going, not to forget all the other great stuff he brings in. Stumpjumper has allowed the MP side of OFF to grow upon itself with new models, new effects and a deep sense of dedication to keep it going. Thanks to both, top honors!! Stumpjumper and Olham. Take a bow... you guys are special and certainly hold honor in the OFF Comunity's 'Hall of Fame'. 2. Most inventive and supportive - Well... an easy one.. Siggi. The DID campaign is a stunning success and has driven many members on here to expand the immersion of this sim to new levels. We can all be thankful for that, and his ability to keep it running for the length of time it has. Kepp it up Siggi, it's a great idea. After the holidays, I'm going to ask Erik to add a DID specific forum to the OFF Section for the DID players. 3. Most informative - hands down. Bullethead. There is nothing better than having an opinion on every subject, right or wrong. Many of the conversations within the community simply would not be as deep without his input. Always verbose, and backing every statement with facts, it's hard to argue that he comes to the conversation ready to educate. Thanks Bullet. 4. Most insane - ooooh... toss up here, so I will add another specific category for the other.... insane goes to Widowmaker. I dare not list the reasons... one will do... anyone crazy enough to post a screen shot WITH the answer in it, and then ask a question... well... but without him, we'd miss the humor of life... which brings me to the next... 5. Most humorus - Sitting Duck - in all my years of being on fourms, I've never seen anyone answer thier own questions as often as Duck does. A stalwart to the MP community, and if you haven't had the pleasure of playing on one of his 'hosting' night, please do.... MP won't be the same. 6. Lastly... Most Beloved - uncleal - Like 'Grandpa' from 'The Munsters', he's our big toe. Full of sarcasim and quick wit, many newbies feel his sting but are fast to learn that he means no harm, and is easily tamed. Always there to help with his to the point posts and very helpful FAQ's, he's important to us. That should round it off... I could go on forever, but I'll leave that to you guys. We've learned a lot this past few years. Most recently, how to make WWI uniforms on a budget, how to get everything working in Vista, and how well we can all realize the dream of re-enacting the challenges of WWI Air Combat. All the best guys, have a safe and healthy holiday. OvS

Are you guys kidding me?? Violence in games??? Have any of you watched any of those CSI Cop shows on TV lately? Wow... talk about free language, brutality and violence. All that is missing is nudity and you'd have minimum NC-17 rating on the shows. Sad what TV has become... don't even talk about MTv anymore.... jeeze... that's in the junk pile for sure. OvS
