Dave, I'd like to jump in with you guys I just don't have the game yet... but after the Holidays, I most likely will. How do you guys get on with this? I've never played a combat game on line, only RB3D and OFF... which is a ton of fun. I'm in NY, so week nights are OK now and then, especially with winter knocking on the door. OvS

I think you nailed it on the head with this comment. From what I've read, my best guess is that Vista is actually very powerful and useful across a network. However, this does not help the 1st time user that has never seen a PC before, let alone knows what a 'ping' does. So it hurt M$ from a new user point a view, but maybe helped it from an IT point of view. Either way, I'm reading a lot of good stuff about Win7 and like Polovski mentioned, Win7 64 seems spot on for overall performance increase and speed. I'm going to switch to that when things cool off as they always do. Better to let the 'must-havers' take the first bullets and hold in the bunker until the smoke clears a little. OvS

What really sucks is that we could spend weeks on this subject, debating who was to blame, why was he released, when... etc..etc in a toatally sensible way. But down to it, the bottom line.... there is only 1 person to blame for his actions, and that is the person who pulled the trigger himself. They say it's not right to instill the death penalty on every crime that warrants it, it's not humane, or civil, etc. But as long as there are humans, there will be crime. It's all through history, and will continue into the future. You can't stop it, can sometimes control it, but it never stops. It all comes down to the 1 individual being of sane mind, to make safe and civil decision that benefit the innocent souls that surround him,and not hurt them. Until the populous of this world finally come to terms with that, this debate will rage on for all enternity. Even after a public hanging, stoning, crucifiction, beheading... etc... people still commited crimes. A sad but very true fact. OvS

Which is all cool Rabu, if you're a systems admin and can understand the logic behind what it does. But for the rest of the non-NASA types, it is and was and will always be a total annoyance as he himself pointed out. <Delete> ... [Do you want to delete this file?] Yes... [Are you sure you want to delete this file?] .... YES... [File deletion requires Administrative permissions. Are you the Administrator] YES!!! ... [This is your last warning, are you sure you want to delete this file] .... YES!!! YES!! F'N DELETE THE GOD D*&M FILE ALREADY!! ... [Cannot delete file as it is presently being used/opened by an existing user, contact your local Network Administrator for assistance.] ... MOTHER FUC--- !!!!!!

One thing I missed about RB3D
OvS replied to sitting_duck's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
It's more of a coincidence that it means that in Dutch. He went by the callsign Bedcheck and Bedwetter... which kinda means the same thing... he wets the bed, he checks the bed I guess? I dunno.. Either way, chasing him was like chasing a greased pig on cocaine. It was really crazy. He'd show up, someone would type in global chat 'BEDCHECK' and all hell would break loose. D.VII's flying with Camels, Spad and Dr.1's. All trying hard together to take out his Dr.1. When I think of it now, it was kinda fun, but it really ruined it for lot of new servers and newcomers to RB3D MMP. One of the many reasons why I opted out... OvS -
Bill O'Reilly had Huckabee on his show about this exact problem. Huckabee commuted the sentence som 6 years ago, based on his personal decision and a reccomendation from one other staff office. He can't be blamed for it, as it was 6 years ago and apparently he was looking at it from a POV that this criminal was incarcerated at 16, with a sentence that was beyond the crimes that he commited. His commuted sentence did not release him, it allowed him to become eligible for parole in a shorter amount of time. Who you blame for this are the two Judges in Washington state that recently set his bail at 15K and signed off on his release to the public. He was arrested recently for sexual abuse of a 12 year old... with him having a prior prison sentence in Alabama, how the hell does a Judge in Washington state even allow this knucklehead to have any allowance for bail is beyond logic. This two Judges should be removed from their respective benches for this. You really can't blame Huckabee, how is he to know what a person will do with his life 6 years in advance. The prison system is over-crowded and underfunded, so what choice does any Governor have in the matter? Basically, my personal feelings are that anyone that is caught laying a finger on a child in any kind of sexual manner up until the victim can be considered an adult should be executed. You have real SERIOUS problems if your are hurting children like that even at the age of 12, and you are simply creating more of yourself in a very violent manner. But I am a little extreme when it comes to stuff like this. Sorry. Other liberalists will say the criminal still has rights, and should be allowed to stand trial... etc. So you get what you have in Washington state. It's not fair to all the families that have been left as victims by this piece of human fecal matter. OvS

Self-plugging our game here, but if you like WWI crates, OFF is a must. It's Campaign engine will have you flying escort, recon, attack, defend, scramble, balloon busting, ground strafing, Lone Wolf (pre-1918) aerodrome attacks... etc.. etc. It's a mixed bag every time and a load of fun. OvS

on top of this, I think Pol and Winder or Rex are running it on Win7 and it's working fine, so yeah, we're not shackled to any particular OS. Good conversation though guys, lot's to learn. I didn't know that Win7 went back to XP technology. I really think they went too far with Vista with securities. It messed a lot of people up that really had no idea how to operate a PC other than pointing and clicking. That's most of the complaints I hear from friends that I fix PC's for. The usual quote is that they're expected to be Admins or something, when all they want to do is turn in on, download music, surf, and play games. I guess M$ realized this and went back to the more user friendly route of XP's technology? OvS

One thing I missed about RB3D
OvS replied to sitting_duck's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yeah, I remember that freak. He was the one who started the speed hack crap. When he'd show up, everyone on the server dropped respective alliances to county and went after him. Because of his antics, there were a ton of security and authentication packs released from a few RB3D MMP guys. Things unfortunately had to get a little tighter. Many were convinced it was BvH. OvS -

I got the same feeling after seeing Rush's R30 tour... it's amazing how bands like this can still kick serious a$$ after all these years. By-tor & the Snow Dog!!

I have it installed on my wife's laptop, and I despise it. Are you sure you want to delete this.. are you really sure... ok, are you positive?? PS... I added Vista in respect to your input as it is quite true what you are saying, and I did base it on the overall consensus of us from the past few years. Not really fair to new guys and Vista users... OvS

Duck, something is wrong with the link you posted, it dosen't play. I see its a youtube video. Can you take a look at what you posted? OvS -
Interesting stuff guys. I'm on the same page. I always find out afterwards what I lost, but at this point in the game, I don't do much with my PC anymore other than simming and skinning. Then again, I do a graphics presentation for my wife, but that's about it. So I guess I'll hold back the same until SP1 on Win7 comes out. I'd just like to see how much faster my PC beccomes having an O/S that uses the technology properly. I know XP 32 isn't as my PC really isn't that much faster than it was before I upgraded it. But I blame the OS bottlenecking the PC. Dirt... as for the Nova... well... she's totally stripped now and I am having a killer time trying to find a good restoration shop that won't cost me a 2nd mortage and my right arm here in Long Island. I'm finding that everyone talks a good line... but no one shows up for work. So until her metal is cleaned up, and primed... she's not going anywhere. Most recent addition was the front disc package, and 15"x4" Cragars on the front! I wish I knew how to work metal and do body repairs myself. Other than that, I'm OK with everything esle. OvS

Bullet, I purposely omitted it from the poll as it's not a well-liked system, although that's not speaking for everyone out there, but the general consensus has not been very good. Most are jumping from XP to W7, as they held-out from Vista (like me).

Well thanks OFF Team...it's the end of a era!

I never liked photorealism in a sim... it never looks right with shadows and modeling. The best best is how FSX is handled. It looks real enough, however still looks like a simulation. You look down at low altitude, and there are cars on the roads... they don't look like real life Fords and Chevy's but they are still there and give you the sense of immersion rather than just having photorealistic cars painted on to scenery tiles. OvS -
Yes, OFF will run, and you'll be able to run it fairly well. But the higher graphical setting will be out of reach. I must say though, OFF still packs a pretty good punch at low settings as well. It's not as if you set the bar lower, and everything looks barren. The scenery is pretty dense at lower settings as well. But no matter what, you'll need to experiment with it once you load it. OvS

Pretty scary site seeing the two mechanics remove that left wingset from that damaged N17 without any struggling, other than how clumsy the two pieces are. Not much weight to these kites!
