Time to fly some old crates... or new ones depending on how you view it
OvS replied to Slartibartfast's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You do that over the lines.... you're dead. -
Hi Daver, welcome to the OFF Community. There is only 1 Officially supported version of OFF, that is Phase 3: Between Heaven and Hell. The other 2 versions (Phase 1 and 2) were freeware and simply do not have the depth and detail as our most recent commerically offered product. You can post a request for someone to send you a DVD with Phase 2 on it, and there is some community support on the Phase1&2 forums, but I HIGHLY suggest purchasing Phase 3 as it is far and beyond anything the previous 2 version offered. You won't be dissapointed with the expense. If you like, hang around the forum and read what is happening around the community. You can read what other users think of the product, watch some of the Phase 3 videos, ask questions, etc. We want you to feel comfortable with your purchase, becuase once it's loaded and running... you wont feel very safe in your cockpit... LOL! Anyhow.. for $30... you are purchasing a ticket for a ride back in time, full of immersion, history, beauty and challenge. Hop on board with the rest of us and join in. See you in the skies! As soon as you load it... download the most recent patch available on our website. It will make a huge difference straight out of the barrel. OvS -
Bawmp... Bawmp... Bawmp... Bawmp... Best one is missing... at the very end of "Everybody wants some"... ... Look I'll pay you for it... What the F*....

Derk, What is the name of the movie? I'd like to get it if it's available. Like so many of us, I collect them and really enjoy them all. Sounds like a very good one, like The Longest Day was. When I toured Normandy 2 years ago, it was very sobering... calm and serene. I was there in February, and I was lucky, it was warm in the 50's and sunny all week. There was no one around at any of the memorials, but the days were short. I loved it, if you can use that term to describe a place that so many died. I feel priveledged that I could be there and see what my Uncles' saw during their time. OvS

ooooh! $75 an hour! That's cheap! He's in... I've teamed up with a few other fathers I was slashing at last year and we've formed an alliance. Get him on a flight to be here on 23 Dec and he will trained and in charge of operating the recently completed full-scale Trebuchet. It should be a good one this year... the Toys R Us menace will never know what hit them once we unleash the wrath of the F.U.C.o.K.'s (Fathers Under Control of Kids). OvS

You can use PayPal... Widow.. can I borrow your son? I could use him for support during this year's Toys R' Us invasion. Preferably the Crusaders uniform complete with helmet, sheild and Long Sword. It might be a rough one this year... I could use the help. OvS

It's probably an adaptation to it. You have to chase and chase and try to hit it from behind. That was a tough one, but easier than the Red Ball Express scenario. All was going well until the Panzer division showed up and I had nothing to kill them with.... I was caught by suprise. I love that game... it's like having all your little Army men when you were a kid finally come alive... totally unscripted. Much better than the Close Combat series. OvS

Now they're reporting that this idiot had ties to a Mosque that the some of the 9/11 attackers attended. Makes me want to puke. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091108/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_fort_hood_muslims

Aw comon' Dave... you're no fun!! There is nothing I enjoy more than the week right before Christmas. I don't shave for a month, then that whole week I refuse to bathe. Starting at about 5pm on Xmas eve, I dawn my classic Viking battle gear, complete with 6ft Broadsword, crossbow and Battle Axe... and off I go. Normally, for me, it's a frontal attack... I just break through the front windows at Toys R' Us in Berzerk mode screaming the lyrics to 'The Immigrant Song" while swinging the Axe and Sword and hack away till I get to the "Isle of Littlest Pet Shops"... once there, I pillage the shelves and set fire to the ajoining Brats displays while at the same time, driving my sword though the life-size Jeffery stuffed animal. At times I commendere a battery operated car and race through the isles hacking at the legs of other fathers ungulfed in the same all out mele as I am. After the carnage and smoke clears, I entrap a few Barbie dolls and force them into slavery, cut the wires on all the PS3 displays and run out the door with my booty in hand... hit the mini-van and off I go to storm the Isle of Best Buys! I love it... OvS Actually... your method rocks... I think I try that this year. I'm getting too old, and the furry Viking underwear I have is too tight and chaffs. LOL!

Spot on Duck, I'd love to have a 'swap meet' thread for the OFF Community, but as you mention, it might become another Craig's List. You intentions are always good, and appreciated. Unfortunately, what we think is good and helpful, there is always the flip side that will take advantage and turn it into a nightmare. All the best, OvS

What I'd like to know, is why other than making a lame statement for the press, Obama has yet to set foot in Fort Hood to meet with the suffering familes, and pass on the support of the American citizens to our fallen heros. If this isn't a message to the Troops that he doesn't support you (as if still waiting a month+ on the Afghanistan decision wasn't bad enough) , wake up... My flag on my house is flying at half-mast until after Veteran's Day. I love and support our Troops here and everywhere. God Bless them all. OvS

A great movie! One of my favorites... Elliot Gould running towards the bridge, thinking they're taking it intact... ka-BOOM... there it goes. The look on his face was priceless. This ambush scene was actually based on a true WWII incident in Villers-Bocage, Normandy, whereas SS Tiger Ace Whittmann, with a small colmn of Tigers (4) ambushed an entire column of British tanks and annihilated them. Obviously it wasn't a balanced fight as the Tigers were positioned to the side, and far more powerful than the on-field British Tanks at the time. The FireFly was present in the column, but once it was knocked out, it was a free-for-all for the Tigers.

I think that's what Rabu meant it to be. He's very accurate and I'm sure there was a reason for it... but if not, and I am wrong, I've got a shoe ready for the microwave downstairs. OvS

Man faces Jail after Urinating on War memorial
OvS replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You got my vote! If the jerk is smart enough to get into a University, then he should have a greater understanding of just how that memorial got there in the first place. Booze is no excuse for stupidity... no matter what the level is. OvS -
Easy Skins (no artistic talent required)
OvS replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Gents, When making a personal GERMAN skin, consider this.... Many of the personal skins used by standard pilots (not well known aces) were very plain, and had simplisitc designs to them. This does not mean they were all that way, by no stretch of the imagination is that the case. So, for a quicky skin.... 1. Chose a Jasta and take the base Jasta skin to start with. 2. Go out on to the Internet, and find some information about your family heritage, maybe a family crest, hometown flag, country of origin, and all that for historic stuff... for other, more personal... signs of the Zodiac, emblem of a favorite Superhero (Green Lantern, The Flash, Etc..), Baseball team emblem... whatever floats your boat. Also... if you want to go super circa and classic... consider using color bands, maybe the first two letters of your last name... stripes on the tailplane... whatever but keep it simple. A LOT of the pictures we used to design our skins from were based on these principles. It wasn't until late 1917 into 1918 when some of the paint schemes got really crazy. 3. Download a larger version of the emblem, meaning, make sure it's above 200 x 200 pixels in size. The reason for this is that when you work with the sizing, if it's real small, and you make it larger, it will look like hell. 4. Add it to the base skin. DO NOT USE ANY LOUD OR SUPER BRIGHT COLORS!!! There were no neon colors back then, and they look really silly on a WWI crate anyway. ;) 5. Blend and fade everything... the simplist of weathering is color fading. That's as easy as using a little desaturation (if you don't have the option, choose the color side that closer to gray/white.... so if it's red, it's more of a grayish red...etc.), use a little less layer opacity, like 80% usually looks very good. I hope that helps a little! I too am looking forward to the new options of flying your own skins. It's been a long time coming and it is something that will seperate OFF from all others... and I think finally convince the old RB3D nay-sayers that we have finally broken out of the last CFS3 chains holding us back. All the best, OvS -
German airfield under bombardment
OvS replied to Hasse Wind's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Some of the early French Escadrilles actually painted over the roundels for camouflage, or as a primitive tactic to confuse the German pilots. -
Regardless... the entire area over there should be turned into a heavy-weapons/ordnance testing ground for the US Military I have no pity anymore... seems even the ones that we think will do us right, slam a huge knife in our back the first chance they get. Kuwait was a good example of that... "OK, Sadam Hussein gone... leave our country now". OvS

I'm very happy you enjoyed it! It's an open receipe, you can sub in any veggie you want... peas, coliflower, asparagus... it all goes good. That's why it's called... Chicken Unkown... because I don't have a clue what it is. LOL!! OvS Next up.... my ultra kid famous... Big Daddy Burgers!!

I'm not a huge Skynyrd fan, but I do like a lot of their songs... and any band that has the balls to put out songs like these will get my money for sure! I listened to 'This is not my America' on Sean Hannity's radio show as he is using it his theme... it's a great one. NY is a very Liberal Dem state, so it's tough to get songs like these on the radio... they fear the liberal backlash too much. OvS

I don't think so... why make it send more lives to battle... Considering the number of friends I lost on 9/11... I would rather have seen it made into an AEGIS as well... however, with 2 huge stacks standing high and tall in the middle representing the 'Twins'... on the side of the hull, painted in huge white lettering "WE WILL NEVER FORGET" ... then permanently anchor the F'n bitch off the coast of IRAN in the Persian Gulf and keep pumping everything it had into any available target within it's range... for decades. And everytime it blew something up... I'd like to hear that cool 'whoop-whoop' all clear siren blast. That's a more fitting memorial in my eyes. Take it right to the heart like they did to us... except they would collapse, we never will. OvS

Anyone still on the fence about buying this sim?
OvS replied to Siggi's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
This is the best statement about OFF I have ever read and sums it all up perfectly! Way to go Cap! OvS -
I don't ever recall any specific incidents whereas an Ace sought out specifically another Ace to duel. Over the front, it was anyone's game... but I just don't imagine a CO allowing his top pilot to go out alone to specifically drop a challenge to another pilot like that. I could be wrong, but I don't think it happened. If it did.. very early in the war, and not very often. OvS
