Production of the Dr.1 - historical photographs
OvS replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Here is where that 212/17 ended up... Jasta 12. Same photo but not as good quality, so it's not from this site. http://www.fokkerdr1.com/212_17.htm -
Manfred von Richthofen original kill claim for 66. victory
OvS replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
WOW! This is great Ohlam... looks like I really stumbled on to Davey Jones's Locker here!! Looks like he says: rote oberen Tragdeck? = red over/upper wing? (tragdeck? could be I can't spell it right, or it's a dilect of 'wing'.) rote Haube = which is red hood or bonnet? Could be cowling maybe? rote Laufräder = which is red wheels, or something spinning? rote schwans(z) = red tail Sweet! This is a great find! I want to print it and hang it on my wall near my desk! Strange repository of WWI Aviation pictures
OvS replied to OvS's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Check these out... they are building a Pfalz D.III. I didn't know it was 1 strip at a time. No wonder the fuselage would twist when the varnish was weak. http://fokkerdvii.com/pics/rudder-markings/pfalz1.jpg http://fokkerdvii.com/pics/rudder-markings/pfalz2.jpg http://fokkerdvii.com/pics/rudder-markings/pfalz5.jpg D.VII prototype with BE2e rudder? http://fokkerdvii.com/pics/rudder-markings/v.18ald.jpg This one is really cool... this is a list of all the planes test flown that day or week. Not sure. But you can see the Fokker Dr.1, D.VI, D.VII, and E.V are all listed. http://fokkerdvii.com/pics/rudder-markings/v.aircraft.jpg This photos must have been betweem the factory and the testing grounds? Man... what a find! OvS -
You guys did such a sweet job on the 109 E-4 and the Stuka. Man I love the way they look in those shots. OvS

I did... no reply... the usual. I can try again. It might be worth it now. OvS

Over Flanders Fields Between Heaven and Hell The Black Knight (Video)
OvS replied to Jammer28's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
So... what's stopping you... Go for it. We love Jammer's work! OvS -
The Spud is a B/Z... get up, get on it... get out.. .over and over. If you try and turn fight, you're dead. Altitude is the Spud's best friend as you can exchange it for energy. Once you're down low, you're done for. OvS

Great stuff FSB! OK weeding through all this, from the campaign side, do you feel like the balance is better or worse? Most of the test, if not all of it, was done on campaign flights. We did test a few in QC, but I think the DM and FM are handled differently in QC for some reason... or maybe it's just me. I'm glad you're putting in the time to look at this. Sometimes it's easier to focus on 1 thing, rather than being the jack of all trades. Where can I get the new DM's? I'd like to try them. Thanks, OvS

New Mission Download section in the Mission Building area
OvS posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Gents and Lady, For anyone interested in posting and or then downloading user created missions, by request from Britsh_eh I just created a new sticky in the Mission Building section of the forum so that you can archive them there. I am running out of sticky room here, so it went there. Please feel free to post there. These are for NON-Multiplayer missions. All the best, OvS -

Hello Gents... Erik has removed my Moderator settings as something was not correct. For some reason, I could not see any options to approve anything. While he's taking a look and researching the problem, the Calendar is open to post dates, and should not require any moderator approvals. So please feel free to use it. It's a very good tool and an excellent suggestion by you guys to go this route. I have been checking it now and then to try and fit in some flying time myself. All the best, OvS
-
The only reason I wanted to moderate it was to alleviate the extra responsibility from Erik. They poor guy has enough work to do, I didn't want to bother him with this. So, as it stands now, we can all use it and just keep an eye on it so that everything looks legit to you and the boys. I 'll pop in now and then for some MP myself, I do enjoy it... so I'll be around on it as well. All the best, OvS
-
PD.. Thanks for the info. Make sure you come around more often, it's good to see contributions come from everyone. All the best, OvS

I type 'craft from (squadron) engaged and shot down (add in condition of craft [flames, broke apart, etc]), then location of general area, etc... And I get denied a lot..... but I am a Stachel, and like my cousin Bruno.... it runs in the family, so I'm used to it. Unconfirmed means UNCONFIRMED! OvS

I got your PM, and I passed this thread link on to the team. This is great Stump! Is it hard to do? Can it be done on a regular basis? OvS

OvS is invited to take up the Kaiser's new weapon for a spin.
OvS posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
These recent photos of me playing with the Kaiser's new plane over Jasta 10's field should solidify that the boys of OBD Software are committed to you and making your WWI experience unforgettable. To be included in a an add-on sometime in the future... We introduce the new Fokker E.V... still a WIP, but complete enough to give you guys that have waited a long time for this one a sweet taste! :) These are unofficial, and are not to be posted anywhere else... hence all the stamps. We'll release official photos some other time. -
Gents, just remember, not every kill was a flamer, or a broken wing. We tested both the 'Hollywood' style (which is flames, dramatics, etc) and yes, all the extra bells and whistles were cool and more fun, but then we evaluated it a little more and decided it was more realistic to see them smoking heavily, spiraling, etc.. rather than bursting into flames on every kill. Basically, a little of everything for a nice balance. :) But each to his own...have fun with it, especially if Winder is cool with using the files. OvS

That's awesome!! I tried to explain this to my wife when I married her... you know... the 'so, why did you marry me' answer to that question... but she got mad at me even still!! Anyway, thanks for the review. Remember guys, talk about it, but keep it fair and clean.

Yes, I completed it. It was a strange scenario for me as my Grandfather was a Higgins driver at the invasion of Pelielu...so being there in an FPS in the actual boat was bizarre. I was there in person(at Peleliu and Palau) for my Honeymoon. My wife and I dive, so we splurged. It was awesome! I made it far enough into the island to see the airfield and see all the wreckage. If you guys want, I'll post some pics. I just have to find them. As far as the game, it was OK. It looked awesome and was VERY stressful, but I felt it was all shooting and no tactics... none at all, not even possible at the speed the game attacks you.
-
Kindly note my Avatars... :) I wish I could find photos, I have some of when my girlfriend (now my wife) and I took the same flight. It was awesome! That place was and still is the Mecca of WWI aviation. OvS

I think it's great that you jumped into a 2-seater campaign. We'd like to hear what you think of it.

Great post Widow! I give the guys that made the 1918 Mod for BF1942 a lot of credit. I played it, and for something a mundane as trench warfare, it was very good. I'm interestd in the Wild West mod for Half-Life 2. That graphic engine is superb! But for me the best WWII game has to be Brother's In Arms: Highway to Hell. Very realistic... however not a mod. BF1942 is really great on a modern PC... you can jack-up all the AI to it's highest level and have 400 v 400 for total mayhem!
