  1. Yes, absolutely! Previous experiances with WWI sims are a must.
  2. I don't see why not. Sounds good. Is this something I have to do for you? All you have to do is reference the original artist of the piece, just so there is proper credit and repect given to them. OvS
  3. What?!?! I'm not in any of the books on there? No respect!
  4. CFS3 at Best buy

    It's awesome!!!
  5. Paarma, I think they ran out of medals for him and were just making them up as they went... ;) Even if he survived the war, he would have need back surgery after walking around with all pinned on his chest. OvS
  6. Yes, they look like flare cartridges to me as well. My guess is the next shot would have been the observer with his hand over his mouth and the next one with him slumped over the side!!
  7. Me to, going with the majority and saying beer taps as well. But I think they are bomb releases. Judging by the look of the plane, it's an early war type, and most likely an Alb or Aviatik. Early war planes were strictly observation/photography and did not carry any ordinance. This looks like a field mod, more like a 'hey, let's give this a try!', type things OvS
  8. Quite a Lady!

You guys want sexy women in cockpits? Read about the Russian women that flew in WWII!! http://www.thaiwave.com/hwelte/ OvS
  9. What version is BH&H?

Hello Duke, welcome to the OFF Community, Yes, OFF is if you will, RB3D on some very serious steroids... ;) And remember, some of us on the team are ex-RB3D modders and data guys. If WWI sims are your thing, you have the right game, and you came to the right place. All the best, OvS
  10. Frank Luke

Good points from both of you about Luke, but still, to me, pilots like Mannock, Ball, Guynemere, Udet, and all the others are more interesting. A lot of Luke's story(ies) are contradicted by fact, and opinion. It seems even from the research the author did, he uncovered more contradiction. Luke's largest adversary was himself, as it showed in his very aggresive behavior and overall attitude. Not that I am in love with the 'hero' type, and prefer the better names in aces, it's just that they make more of Luke and this situation than really warrants. What else is there to say, he was nuts (or really pissed off), he flew out one morning, tagged 1 maybe 2, who knows.. three balloons, got shot down, was jumped by German infantry, and got into an 'OK Coral' type gunfight, which he promtly lost. Not much there to write home about to me. I'm sorry I'm being so negative, if I am, or even anti-Luke if you will, but after reading so many bios on WWI aces, I just thought Luke's was standard for an over-confident, cocky fighter pilot. Much like Fonck was, but he lasted the war. If Luke did, maybe it would have been different. Who knows. The Nova... well, it's going, very, very slowly. ;) I'll try to post some pics soon. OvS
  11. OT- U2 concert

You guys have to watch this!!! BRILLIANT! OvS
  12. Frank Luke

No disrespect intended to the Luke family, or Frank Luke himself, but really, was he worth writing a book about and considering it a 'mystery' how he died? At an exorbent price of $64.99 for the book and then a DVD as well, it looks more like a marketing campaign than anything else. He was short lived in the war, from July to September 1918, and scored 15 kills (which many debate were false as he often went out alone) in an area patrolled by lesser quality German pilots. He was not well liked in his squadron, and either went AWOL after an arguement with the CO, ran out of fuel, or was shot out of the sky by ground fire protecting a balloon, which he never took down. Seems like bad piloting decisions based on wreckless desire for attention. He recieved a MOH for and shooting/killing a few German infantrymen while trying to avoid capture, which is where he lost his life. Personally, it's not a story worth writing about, or publishing all of this, especially at this price. There were many men lost on the front, who died a hero's death and recieved nothing in return. They make it seem like this is 'the book' to own, regardless of the fact that he really was not a hero at all. Now... Rauol Lufbery, Elliot White, Quentin Roosevelt... those are guys worth writing books about. OvS
  13. Sure no problem, sorry I'm so militant and direct, I'm just on guard, and keeping close watch of any questionable activity. :) We'd be happy and proud to help a fellow WWI'er, even if you are using a board game. Also, when you posted that, someone also posted a link to an illegal download for WoW, which was a commercially released game, which is a huge no-no on this board. All the best, OvS
  14. maintainence?

In the words of my fellow aircraft mechanics.... WE GOT MAINTENANCE!!!!
  15. This is a game that came out about 4 years ago under the 'The Gathering' label. Why are you posting this here? I have already closed and deleted the software link post you made as it eventually took me to a Clan site that offered a link to 'download' the game, which then pointed to a 'rapidshare' location. As far as I know, Wings of War is/was not free, and was sold on store shelves, so this constitutes an illegal offering of software (AKA pirateing). Please explain this, and yourself, and why you are posting this on our dedicated OFF Forum. Thanks, OvS PS.
  16. G'day to All (NOOB ALERT)

How are ya, and welcome to the OFF Community. Be prepared to re-learn everything about air combat that you thought you knew from IL2. :) As far as modding OFF... it is a mod already, and allow us to do that for you. All we want you to do is enjoy it, let us take care of the rest for you. It's good to see more IL2 guys here as you come from a Sim that has people playing it that are true dogfight specialists. You'll get on fine with OFF. It might take a while, and you'll die a lot until you start learning the pros and cons of each plane and each encounter. Is you are happy, and you like OFF, by all means, go back to the IL2 Community and invite some friends. Tell us what you think once you get it up and running. All the best, OvS
  17. New Pilot

Welcome to the OFF Community, we hope you like it and stay a while. Great country you live in. I had the pleasure of being there and really enjoyed it. It's great to have another 'Fin' on the forum. As soon as Paarma sees you posting, I'm sure he'll be happy to it. Like Shred already mentioned, we have many helpful and talented people on this forum, so any questions, topics, subjects.. whatever you want to ask, go right ahead. All the best, OvS
  18. good news and bad news

Been there, done that too... and got the 3 1/2" 'War scar' to prove it. ;) It's a standard thing nowadays. Just enjoy the drugs they give you. For a week I was seeing things that I don't think a Priest would be allow to speak of. LOL! OvS
  19. Why not refer to the 'lost' I posted in another thread, pick out a plane we don't have, and give it a go. It looks like you've got a real good handle on making models. The D.VIII is actually partailly completed. So we already have one. I'd like to see you do a Voisin, Cauldron, or an early Albatros C.I :) OvS
  20. Pol, you guys promised that video of my 1st flight after Training School would NEVER get out!! What the hell man!! Sorry guys, I was having a lot of trouble trying to remember if you pushed the left rudder with the right stick input or vice-versa. Things weren't going well for me that day. They pulled my wings and grounded me for two months after that one. OvS
  21. I have the same setup, but with 3 GB RAM and a GT260. How did you OC the CPU? I'd like to do mine now. Thanks, OvS
  22. OT- U2 concert

Yeah, you gotta love these 'awareness' jerks that have more money than God, but only donate about .000001% of their cash to a 'worthy' cause.
  23. Epic-Geek Review

Bad Gremlin... bad, bad, bad Gremlin!! How dare you keep info from us, poor, unfortunate souls. Your luck WF2 is MIA, otherwise I'd tell her to interrogate you in her own 'special' way... but after that.. you'd be of no use to any of us anyway!!! All the best, OvS
  24. Epic-Geek Review

Oh, hello... you wrote it? Thanks, it was a good review. Welcome to the OFF Forum. :) We appreciate all due fairness and honesty. It was all we ever asked for from day 1. We hope that you continue to 'grow' with OFF and see it for what it was meant to be... immersion and atmosphere. And you never know... apparently according to the Boss (Winder), our next version has some surprises in store for everyone... what they are I have NO idea, but apparently they do. So well all find out together.
