  1. Software protection being what it is, you have to weigh the gains versus losses. If you sell 50K units of sales and 500 of thoses units are cracked, then you have a 1% loss. It's not worth going after the hi-tech lock-down servers and DRM's over 1%. But... if your at 10 or 20% loss due to piracy, that's another story. DRM's also alienate a certain percentage of users, as well as all the server protections bogging down the legal users. It's really a tough call in today's day and age. But like CoD5 shows... simply make a product that sells so much that you eat the percentage of losses... then ban the pirates on the servers by constantly updating the product with little tweaks offered to licensed/registered copies only. Most pirates crack the release product... although some will follow with the updates, but many loose the 'thrill' of cracking the updates, after the main program is complete. OvS
  2. And more to come.... ;) Wait till they get a load of all the "holes" we filled.

  4. 2010 Oscar Results.

I felt the same way about Avatar. It's a plot that has been used so many times, it's sickening... but the special effects were insane. It was like a video game, complete with final Level Boss fight and all. Not a very deep plot, but I guess it couldn't be as you were too distracted by the 3D effects and close detail in the backgrounds. Remove the violence, and the suggestive sexual scene... and you have a top quality Kid's film. OvS
  5. Best $17 I ever spent! Man this 3 DVD set is fantastic! I think they underpriced this set by at least $20. All new footage, in color, and most in very good resoluition. Great stuff! If you see it, don't pass it up. OvS
  6. Snap a set of jumper cables to his 'junk'... and give him a few hundred Die-Hard cranks.... those batteries never die... but his will. OvS PS... It's all over the press, it's not him anyway... a mix-up in his name... unless the CIA is trying to cover loose tracks.
  7. Women, you gotta love 'em

Until you ask them to pick a color she wants painted in a room.... then doesn't like it after you spent 2 days of your life spackling, sanding, priming, preping... and painting the room to perfection. "I don't know... it looked better on the chit" OvS
  8. Now, I have been in the aviation field my whole life, since I was a spry little 10 year old, washing Cessnas at Zahn's Airport in Long Island. I know the safety, the rules, the seriousness, all that and more. Believe me, I understand it. I presently work for a major International air carrier, so you can imagine, how much I am exposed to. But this story, and what is going to happen to this employee is simply sad. Gone is the fun and splendor of aviation... the dreams we had as kids... and the simple love of the nature of what it is to be at the airport, and be around the planes. I agree it wasn't the smartest choice for this employee, but he was just having some fun, at no ones cost... the child was obviously heavily supervised and under close observation... and sounded old enough to handle what he was being told. The kid actually did a very good job... I know, I work here, and heard from a few friends around 'the base'. The FAA will not only ruin a family, but more importantly, ruin the enjoyment of what one child was exposed to. That is what has kept Aviation going all these years... the passing of the torch, the bringing in of the child to see the planes, to touch them, to sit in them. And once again... we destroy it with rules that for reasons I understand, but unfortunately have to be imposed. People make planes fly, money simply runs the business of it. But unless you've worked for an airline, or at the airport, you can't understand what it's like to be here. We're simply a different breed of people, most of us deeply rooted by family, or personal interest. If I was questioned by the FAA everytime I offered to show a child around the airplanes I worked on at EWR, I would have been locked-up for sure. But I believe in passing the torch... because other than doing that, there is no one dumb enough in this day and age to seriously want start a career working for an Airline just to start one. 10. What If Beatles....

The Claymore's will fix this problem ...
  11. True... all of it... and in the mind of some stupid ass computer designer, who has never actually flown a plane, let alone been in the cockpit of one during flight (I have and HOLY CHRIST... that was scary seeing all those jumbos in the air at once)... there is always the automated, non-human computer that can handle it all... TCAS warning... pull up.... whoop whooop... pull up!!! OvS
  12. Burl Ives??? Man... well... depending on how old you are.... Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer... had a very shiny nose... etc.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMlqn_Hjyi8 Corny... I know.. but 100% part of being an American kid in the 70's! OvS
  13. Remembrance

I agree, this one really captures the essence of what BHaH is really all about! It's not just a sim, but a step back in time. Great work Jammer! OvS
  14. Grinch, I don't think there is a person dumb enough on this planet that would argue that you are wrong. I was simply pointing out that it's sad that after all is said and done, we have to leave our kids wondering what careers are out there, without being able to offer them a taste of it. He should never have let the kid speak, I'm sure he could have gotten by with just having him in there, it would have went un-noticed. Also... all the kid was doing was giving release clearence... I've been on the airways many times during maintence moves at EWR... and I've heard way worse stuff on the mic than what this kid was doing. But still... he didn't belong on the open mic, even though he was obviosuly heavily supervised. But hey... I'm willing to bet that you don't know that most airlines have ground-crews on the headset during push-backs that would have NO idea what to tell the Flight Crew what to do when an engine burst into flames during start-up... or would notice that a tire was flat while making a tight turn... or what hydraulic fluid feels like on your face as it's misting from a cracked pipe in an engine nacelle. But I digress... OvS
  15. Spot on! At least I have my memories of what it used to be like...
  16. I definately think the press is over dramatizing this, what else is new. The kids was under close supervison, stupid move or not, no harm was done. All this crap about security, breeches... etc...give it a rest. They tell us to go on living our lives as normal, but THIS is normal... bring your kid to work, show them what life/career/exposure is like. This poor SOB is going to be crucified, bad timing or not. Then again, from here on out, it's permanent 'bad timing'. It will never be the same. I really feel sorry for the kids growing up today, and moreso for this kid. All he wanted was to share Dad's job, show him he could do it, see what it was like, be excited... know what it's like to be Daddy... now Daddy will be unemployed... and this poor kid will think it was his fault regardless of what Dad says. 18. Lesson Learned..never go on a forum full of women!

Women are biased... period.. oh, and that too... when it comes around... it's even worse. I've more than once walked into an office here at work, to fix a PC or a printer, and entered into a conversation about stuff for which I saw no happiness from... let alone, shortly afterwards being tagged 'one of them', 'pig', 'incensitive'... etc. I once offered a woman at a Lowe's to carry her B-BQ propane tank as she was about to have it filled... she immediately got insulted and asked me "Why, don't you think I can do this myself?!? That's very chauvinistic of you!" I walked away knowing that the tank was very light because it HADN'T been filled yet and the average weight of a filled tank is about 60-70lbs. I sat in my car and watched from across the parking lot as the stupid bitch dragged... stumbled and struggled with it, scratch the back of her car trying to lift it ... nearly fell in the trunk as she finally got it over the rim and dropped it in ... it was funny as hell. Good luck honey... yep... I'm chauvinistic!! And they think we're heartless... HA! OvS
  19. I love this video... everytime I watch it, I can't help but think the poor bastard in the Camel is struggling every which way from Adam to keep that plane in control, ignition, wind, torque ... etc.. meanwhile the Spitfire pilot is out for a nice effortless Sunday stroll in the sky... mind you, probably at near stall speed... but at least having an easier time with it than the Camel pilot. I love these old planes. OvS

The upper wing on this profile suggests the earlier issued Albatros serial# that had the center mounted radiator. I think I have it as the later D.III, wheres it's in Mauve and Green? I don't know, I'd have to look. It's up to you how you paint it. Sometimes it's more dramatic to the viewer in a game to see the wood-grain, rather than a solid color. On a model, that would be hard to do. All the best, OvS

Now that I think of it... It might actually have come from a profile from an Ospery book. I do remember now seeing his plane in front of me when I did his skin. That was a few 1000 skins ago, so I do forget. OvS Low and behold... here it is... and yes, this is a lighter shade of green that I did. Maybe I'll rework it... http://www.mincbergr.net/index.php?page=d-2041-16---jasta-28w&plane=00002.00001.00011

Hi, The tail section markings are correct. He flew with Jasta 28w, which I assume you are using for his D.III correct? The rest may/may not be speculative. Like you said, with no clear evidence, it's hard to say... so we tend to extropolate, rather than have him flying a bare factory plane with a J28w tail. IIRC, I made him in a dark wood color, with green from the pilot section back to the tail, and J28w standard markings. That was based on the look of his D.Va. Not to say that it's correct, but it's an educated guess. Like some of the aces you come across, they are educated guesses, and artistic renditions based on circa markings/styles. Better that, than a whole sky full of factory colors. OvS
  23. All the best to the Canucks! CAN - Gold USA - Silver FIN - Bronze It was a great hockey tourney and no doubt the best teams were the top 3! OvS
