Correct pronunciation for Breguet?
Bullethead replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Down here on the bayou, there are a few folks named Breguet. They mostly pronounce it "BREH-gay". It's a Cajun habit, picked up from association with English settlers, to accent everything on the 1st syllable. I suppose across the pond it would be "breh-GAY". But everything Cajun is often "wrong". For instance, there's a popular inside joke around here, seen on bumperstickers, billboards, and all sorts of things, about the LSU football team, the Tigers. Everywhere you look, you'll see "Geaux Tigers", which is supposed to be Cajun for "Go Tigers". But of course this is wrong, because without the U behind the G, "geaux" should be pronounced "zho". So they should have spelled it "got", "gau", "gaut", "gaux", "gault", or whatever. But the "eaux" ending is because so many Cajun surnames in those letters: Boudreaux, Simoneaux, Oliveaux, etc. -
Sic transit cervus. I'm sure he had it coming. The only good deer is a dead deer, on my plate

There are 2 ways. One: Just post the link. When folks click on the link, it opens a new window showing the vid on its host site. Two: When you're writing up a post, up on the toolbar, look all the way to the right for a button that looks like a bunch of overlapping squares, called "Insert Media". When you click it, a box comes up asking for a URL. So, using this takes some preparation--you have to know the URL. So go find the video on YouTube or whatever and look for the SHARE button there. It'll give you the URL. Copy that, then come back here, hit the "Insert Media" button, paste in the URL, and voila.

Do we have a "Decorum Editor"?
Bullethead replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I leave that to OBD and you to decide. All I was trying to do was point out the thread's new location to all those who apparently missed it. I understand why it got moved and it's not my place to say it should move back. -

No, a sticky is fine. I was just trying to drum up business for it. Since it got moved to the pub, it seems nobody but me knows it's there. Surely everybody didn't give up Skyrim for a New Year's resolution, did they? So everybody wander over to the pub, look up in the sticky section, and post your adventures. -

Which is why cursing in a non-English language usually still works fine :). BTW, did all you Skyrim fans notice our thread got moved to a sticky in the Pub section? It's been essentially dead since then. -
Damn, what a Murphy's Law accident :). But she's not the first ship to suffer a welding-induced fire while in dockyard hands. It's happened to everybody, military and civilian, and will continue to do so as long as there are welders . Don't laugh that it took the Russians a long time to put the fire out. As a fireman, I can tell you that once a big pile of rubber gets burning, it takes a lot of killing. It once took my department 3 days to put out a fire at a factory that recycled old tires and I figure that was about the same amount of rubber as on a Delta IV boomer. Rubber is such a bitch for several reasons. First off, it's by nature waterproof so repels water instead of soaking it up. Second, as it burns, it tends to porous with the fire down in the holes, most of which are too small for water to get into well, besides being surrounded by water-repellant material so water can't even soak into the internal tunnels from the sides. And third, the heat of the fire starts melting and decomposing surrounding rubber into light flammable liquids, so you have both Class A and Class B fires going at once in the same area. A modern dual-purpose Class A/B foam in sufficient quantity is your best bet but failing that, you're probably going to be there a long time.

Sad to see. My condolences to my MA brethren and the family. Sorry to meet under such circumstances but it's always nice to meet another fireman. I work for West Feliciana Parish in Lousy Anna's armpit, one of the few paid guys in a mostly rural volunteer outfit.

What happened? Did everybody swear off Skyrim for the new year? My nephew has gone on home so I can play again. But it was fun watching over his shoulder as his archmage blasted a swath of Destruction across Skyrim. I've GOT to try that someday. While he was at it, he found a couple of humorous glitches: This was by far the funniest one. He was just "walking along" (Whirlwind Sprint, regular sprint, repeat while the other recharges--he covers ground quickly that way) when something moving in the sky caught his dragon-trained eyes. And there was a mammoth floating slowly down from the clouds like a gift from the Divines. It fell slowly enough from him to get to the edge of the high ground he was walking on to see the plain below. Thus, he saw the mammoth's impact, only it didn't have one. It just kept on falling right through the ground and out of sight . I myself saw something strange today: In a dungeon that shall remain nameless, I gradually accumulated an entourage of glowing balls. In this pic, only 2 are visible, but by the time I got to the end, I had about 20 of them following me around. They stayed about waist level or lower, flew right through me but bounced off walls, and knocked loose floor items around if they touched them. They all appeared out of coffins, catacomb niches, and other such places so I assume they were some type of ghost, but they wouldn't interact with me at all. I couldn't talk to them, I couldn't hit them with anything, nothing. They did, however, in general tend to swarm in an area from my immediate vicinity to a dozen paces out along the path through the dungeon, like they were trying to lead me to the end (mine or the dungeon's, I'll never know). Very interesting things. I've never seen the like. In other news, the civil war is over(?) and the Stormcloaks won. I'm now known throughout the land as "Stormblade", Ulfric's #2 dude after Galmar Stone-Fist. Me and mine came through the war intact, although I killed about 100 running dog collaborators along the way in various battles. I didn't get into the war until I was over 30th level and I think that was a bit late because the battles were extremely easy. My main worry was not killing friendlies as I slashed around with my highly perked and smithed swords. For instance, in the final battle for Solitude, I laid out Ulfric and Galmar 2 or 3 times each because they were too close to me while I was carving my way through the Imperials. Luckily, being "essential" quest guys, I couldn't kill them . If you want to see some pics of the action, check out the album here: http://combatace.com/gallery/album/728-stormcloaks/ But I think the end of the war is a bit bugged. Both Ulfric and Galmar have told me they no longer need my services and all the civil war quests are marked as completed. However, my journal says I haven't finished that questline yet. Also, both of the above NPCs told me to destroy an remaining Imperial camps I come across. I've tried to, but each one has an unkillable legate in it. He goes down on a knee but won't die and new Imperial soldiers keep spawning as long as he lives. So something's amiss here. My advice: stay away from Legion camps after the war is "over".
