  1. That "other WW1 flight sim"

Yeah Bandy, I do remember that one...always wanted to play it back in the day, but only saw it once in a some store, and never saw it again....seemed a pretty innovative flight game....pre PC of course. Good for a car trip with your screaming brothers though. Siggi, who made Panzer Biltz? I can relate to your account, we'd often keep our Mom's dining room table a "warzone" for weeks on end as well. Ahhh the days. ZZ.
  2. Spare a thought for Olham

Ahem.... sorry English chappies.....those of us in his Jasta have already appropriated those items. ZZ.
  3. That "other WW1 flight sim"

Hehe....used to play PanzerLeader....or was it Panzer Commander....I dunno which now but it was an Avalon Hill board game, back when I was in grade school and my older brothers were in high school. Geesh, you shoulda earned a college-degree for digesting and memorizing the tenets of those rule books back then. Near akin to a phone book in size!!! I'm glad we have computers now to do it all for us.....ah the atrophy. ZZ.
  4. Freetrack and Accelerometers

Ahhhhh....I see. Also, re the dingle dongle.....don't forget to reticulate the splines there before usage. ZZ.
  5. Freetrack and Accelerometers

Right Gaw, but don't forget to first calibrate the Gweebo disc. ZZ.
  6. That "other WW1 flight sim"

"And yes I love seeing those valve lifters work, at first I thought my graphics drivers were buggy and then I took a closer look (thank you track ir) and was pleasantly surprised. I love seeing the recoil, I love seeing the bullets feed into the guns, I love seeing the spent shells falling to earth, I love seeing the dead enemy slumped in their cockpit on flames, I fawking love the detail and want more, I WANNA SMELL THE LEATHER AND CORDITE MAN! Who doesn't want more eyecandy? Why must eyecandy be sacraficed for depth? Why can't we have it all? First developer to do that gets more of my green! " Ok.....I can't argue with that. lol ZZ. PS....but I wan't it all, and at a zero FPS hit......ummm, and to win the lottery while we're at it!!!!
  7. That "other WW1 flight sim"

Agree with you on the "competition breeds a better product" appraiser. No doubt. Thats why, however, the rest of your statement simply falls apart. It's just what we are doing here, expressing honest opinions (and I have seen little or no narrowmindedness) that causes this betterment to occur. Like many, I was hoping for a great outcome from this product (ROFL) as well, but the fact that we are expressing here is that it simply falls short. It doesn't "suck-on-ice or anything, sure its got some eyecandy, if you love rockerarms and all and they are your biggest thing. But the rest of us really like agame that plays well on many platforms, is immersive, has depth as well as expandability, and that you don't need big brother looking over your shoulder in order to play a simple one player round. Sorry....due to bad decision making ROFL has had its arse kicked. And as Siggi stated, the future due to these bad decisions, seems a dire one indeed. ZZ. (It's a pity really)
  8. anti aircraft fire

Switch it to "Easy" in workshops. The amount of fire is reduced unfortunately, but you will garner a more accurate representation "hit ratio" wise, to real WWI accounts. I too lost far too many pilots from flak....even with dodging about the sky, at "Normal" than should be occuring. ZZ.
  9. That "other WW1 flight sim"

And a puddle that you have to go through a Russian Server to swim in at that. ZZ. By the way, ROFL is now a coaster, and a $40.00 one at that, beside the machine where I play OFF. It reminds me to be more carefull before I buy in the future. Does keep me-tea from marring the finish though.
  10. Freetrack and Accelerometers

Gee, don't know about the Accelerometer issue Bullet, but I do know that the Wiimote works exceptionally well with like a "0" FPS hit, cause thats all I use, and its awesome. ZZ.
  11. Sounds extremely interesting. Perhaps when Olham is back, he might have some leads for the translation issue. ZZ.
  12. What a find.

Wow, you lucky rascal. That'll be a fun bit to look through. ZZ.
  13. Train in my airfield!

Could we have Yeti's on some of our airfields too? Wouldn't want to be left out. ZZ.
  14. HiTR new planes

"Zoomzoom, it went fine the first try (fortunately - I had used my campaign pilot!). Perhaps you need to correct a bit yourself, but it worked. And I knew it would, somehow. Wouldn't dare it with a Camel though... " Exactly Olham, those are a bit too twitchy to do this reliably in combat......although, I'll bet with practice you could. It would likely take a very precise and cool handed pilot though.....and perfect reaction times and counter control. Hard things to keep in mind though when an enemy is pelting you from behind from out of the blue!! ZZ.
  15. HiTR new planes

Well, by confuse, I mean, you will be out of thier line of fire. hehe Um, as far as familiarity, the snap roll is a pretty standard maneuver. I have had a bit of pilot training (full size AC) and fly RC all the time, so its a good standard maneuver. The trick is to know what planes it works well with, and which its not as nice on..sometimes even dangerous as far as recovery. I simply put the N-28 through its paces, and this one panned out well. I was actually over correcting at first, countering the original spin as some planes need to come out of it well, till I found I was inducing an opposite and even more severe counter spin. This by the way is MOST realistic to some real life planes....great job DEvs on the flight characteristics....they are awesome....spot on. Anyway, since I saw I was over-correcting, classic error of real newbie pilots, I just played with the timing and "let her go" once it started, and it worked out fine. It is a matter of timing and feel, but try it a few times, you'll get the hang of it......and it might save your skin. ZZ. PS. Olham, be sure to use quick combat and pilot never dies when you try it on the EV. High wing parasols are nasty in spins due to all the weight high up in that top heavy wing....it can get nasty fast.
  16. HiTR new planes

The N-28 does a lovely evasive snap roll to the right as well. In fact, its saved my life more than once. All you do, (but wait till your enemy is closing fast so it will really throw them) Is hit full up elevator and full right rudder. As soon as she starts to spin to the right, just let go.....I mean it, let go of all controls.....if you time it right, she will right herself...all by herself, and you will fly away in the proper orientation, with your adversary overshooting you, and or very confused. ZZ. PS. This isn't in a steep dive, just regular turning or flying speeds. I haven't tried it at extreme speeds yet.....haven't had to it works so well.
  17. Good Point you made earlier Olham. A Morane-Saulnier, and a Taube type would help fill out the earlier war period nicely. And they are both Shoulder wing monoplanes, an element not yet seen.......very cool. ZZ. Ahem....shoulder wing other than the Fok EIII of course.
  18. Seems spot on to me so far. What Siggi said is right, in DID I've only seen wings sawed off once...and very realistically at that. Also, only 1 or 2 flamers as well.....so, so far it seems quite accurate. Haven't crashed much though to see if thats improved.....guess I'll be pushing the envelope there soon enough too. Like it or not. ZZ.
  19. So what your saying then Pol, is that you have to...................HA! Sorry old bean, just yankin yer chain. Don't think it could be more explicit. Thanks for clarifying though. ZZ.
  20. Yes, most pleased you made it safe OVS! My wife and son drove through it as well that evening. Strangely enough, they avoided all of the stranded vehicles and hazardous conditions, only to be thrown into a skid heading down a hill 3 miles from home, and fishtailing towards a bridge because a six point buck leapt out in front of them, and all in the midst of the blizzard. Needless to say, she pulled it out ok and made it across safely, (after of course jumping out with the rifle, bagging that sucker and tying it onto the top of the GMC )....ok ok, everything happened BUT the part in parens, but it woulda been impressive!! Anyway, we're all ok, yet stuck here in the middle of it (middleVA) and after digging the cars out, I'd say we totalled close to 2.5 feet. Not too shabby, and quite beautiful. AND on the 20th, Jasta 6 actually let me fly a couple missions.....thanks OFF for keeping us from being overcome with Cabin Fever. I'll post some pics if I can. ZZ.
  21. Apologies

Creaghorn, You are entitled to your opinion old man, and we respect you for it, and for your civility. Decency and self scrutiny are more and more a rarity these days, and whenever I see it, I must pay my respect....good to know you. ZZ. PS. Gous, stop it, you just made milk squirt out my nose.
  22. HItR original AI

Thanks kind sir. There was never any discord to begin with. We are simply refining our accuracy to discern whats happening, and we appreciate your assistance. Merry Christmas to you also. ZZ.
  23. HItR original AI

Good point yet again HPW. ZZ. Morris, as Olham mentioned, I wasn't implying you weren't DID material. Just trying to cover all of the parameters of variation. Also: Actually, the outnumbered Huns were simply overwhelmed by numbers, I suspect. That they didn't cut and run made me think they were a rookie Jasta - J24(w) I think it was. the poor sods in the DIIs stood little chance, IMO, as they were lower than 24 RFC when attacked Sounds logical M-SRC.
  24. HItR original AI

That IS wierd. Hmmm. I can't figure it. In the last fight I described, I would have normally gotten 2-3 kills, instead I limped away with none. Are you flying DID or with aids....(NOT the disease!!! ) Just fishing for anything that might quantify some of this phenomenon. Not trying to pick at your data...it is most helpfull. ZZ. I ask because I only fly DID, so there may be some elemental effect there.
