this is CLASSIC..................tried the "set priority" with ctrl alt delete to bring up the task manager.......right click and set the OFF mgr to "high", not "real time" as per this thread thank you "Hasse Wind"..................AND THE WHOLE DEAL IS SUDDENLY SMOOTH AS SILK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All these years....this is first time I've EVER heard of "set priority".....I feel totally stupid (am). Never fiddled w/ the "Black Viper" settings..........how to explain to the war department that something has gone terribly wrong suddenly.........and then this "set priority" nugget comes up as a casual aside in a thread. OK.....there's more than me out there as ignorant of finesse moves (if this even counts as finesse)...or maybe I haven't paid attention (likely)..... that COMPLETELY ELIMINATES STUTTERS IN BIG COMBAT (lots o' planes) OR OVER YOUR AIRFIELD. It did all these for this happy flapper at least............so, question is....a casual scan of the net shows a program called PRIO that'll save your priority settings...your settings revert to "normal" each time you start the game...........but PRIO only works for 32 bit set ups in Win 7............I'm 64 Win 7.........Hasse, anybody???....how do I save my priority settings in 64 pls??? This is like the invention of the wheel for me at least after all these years of chasing slider settings, config options, hardware, etc., etc, etc...............GREAT TIP!!!!!!

R.I.P......damn......hate to see a canny player go down....sent dozens off to the morgue covered with medals and yet short of 17.5 hrs......there's a caution that comes over me as the dread number approaches and I've often wondered if that's the cause instead of the accumulation of odds against.....kudos to the devs for making this work on so many levels.....very cool.......

UK....classic! thanks
-
Creag....still got the reverb thing with a mob of Re'8's.......the rest, perfect so far. Gotta take time to fly the front and check out your changes there.....Thanks!!!
-
well...they're terrific. the changes work really nicely...no more reverb in the group effect....and yeah, you gotta throw the sliders around a bit to suit your taste.....muy bueno!!!! Thanks!
-
allright!!!!............now that's quick work......can't wait to try it when it's up.......and be back to you. THANKS!

New enginesounds with doppler-effect and other sound-tweaks
gaw replied to Creaghorn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Creag....remember the "sound recorder" in XP that'd edit up or down volumes of individual wav files? Is there something like it in Win 7? And it's true....lots of wingies....even with the sound sliders in workshops fumbled with....still overwhelms the environment. What are your slider settings for sound.....like to try 'em if you please....as this is totally a good go! Same with Spads....one at a time the engine sounds great.....six of 'em together sounds like a chainsaw....they seem to distort one another in a group. Keep it coming mate....these are great!!! Thank you! -

Creag..............these are great! Shell music and voices a nice change of pace too....I especially liked the new sound and rate of fire of the Spandaus.....very cool! Engines are throatier with a lot more presence to them. And you're right....the assembled crew on the field is a bit overwhelming but it clears up aloft as you'd expect it to.....nice touch! Tried the lighting effects as well on your "homebrew"....very dark and atmospheric to be sure..... but I kept wanting to take my sunglasses off.....totally moody and forbidding but I couldn't see a damn thing on the deck.....maybe the years....something in-between maybe? And I totally concur on your "front" thoughts.....felt the same but hadn't a clue how to implement them. Thanks again....these are nice touches...thanks again. Cheers....GAW -

This should be great....thank you....will try later when no-one's here so I can crank it up.....any chance you might lift a leg on the "front" sounds to alter the distance effect? ......or....what are the lines to tweak so we can try it too....I've worked on this in the past but with ambiguous results.... thanks again -
Mat...........the devs have given us all the choices you could want...including this one. In "workshops" turn off the "menu music". The whole thing loads faster too.
-
reasonable question.....all I can remember is from The Blue Max where old Stachel pulls a lever mounted between the two guns that I suppose activated the triggers mechanically...........or do I mistake. One hand on the stick, the other on a trigger bar????....there must have been something better....

Yikes......stunners all......can't wait. Beautiful work. -
thanks for the invite by the way.....never been reliable enough to be a countable onable MPer
-
yeah....it's fun to go to a different view and watch the boys peel away on attack command....works a treat

Among the many fabulous changes that you devs brought us was the fix for this....AI planes ripping around w/ no pilots aboard...it doesn't happen anymore in OFF......I still stomp around with ETO and MAW.....beautiful work as well.....but I still fight empty cockpits there.....is there a fix that hasn't cross-pollinated or does this fall under the separate tribes clause......anybody?
-
Pol....thanks for the reply!
-
no need to report really.....the devs are reading this too....instance Pol's response above....and it's not really a question of liking or not liking the door thingie....it's an anomaly that'll no doubt be added to a loooong list of refinements that are a part of the evolution of OFF....you'll see patches, new phases from time to time and I'd not be surprised if the bomb/door fix is among them......so, good find!

Balance AI aircraft and Player aircraft preformance please !
gaw replied to Ironhat's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
good on ya'....bullethead has the right end of the stick.....it's GREAT that the AI have an edge.....years of practice and return engagements the the "other side" never will have gives us an unthinkable advantage in the long run....ask any Las Vegas odds maker....play the long game and you'll win every time....been at it 15 years or more and IMHO OFF has it as well balanced as anything out there......not to mention "workshops" gives you all the variations on theme you could ask for......WELCOME!!!! -
well....you're absolutely right....the bombs do drop thru the doors without opening them....can't do it in CFS3...made many a futile pass across the target in CFS3 banging on the pickle switch having forgotten to open the doors....the bombs won't release. I'm sure the devs will lift a leg on this....the best follow up/support around.....cheers
-
this is new......never thought there were bomb bay doors on anything....let alone opening ones.....I'll go check and beam back in...as far as I know...never having flown as a bomber....all ordinance was just clamped under the wings or on the struts...and these seem to be modeled perfectly
-
if there're already a couple planes on an enemy I leave it alone....sure recipe for a crash, they'll probably nail it anyway, and let 'em have a moment in the sun instead of the outer third of your wing....even if they are AIs.....if there's another squad in the thick of it, I'll pick off strays outside the furball if I've arrived late to the feast but not inside....other squads want the kill as much and are willing to run you over to get it....furballs within your own flight.....your own flight members seem to defer more or less to you especially if you're leading, so it's easier to take a strong hand but again....work the edges and you'll come home more often than not. This is single player perspective but it'd probably hold true for multi as well

what happened to Peter Jackson's "Crossing the Line". There was a brief flurry of press bits when the Red camera was announced but I've seen nothing since.....and the aerial ambitions were said to be spectacular

not for the "Feint hearted"..........what's that?....some kind of cardiac condition where the aortic arch fakes left but goes right? Where do they find these guys?

Gents.....after much angst.........I FINALLY got HITR into my Win7 set up.....despaired of keeping up with the updates let alone able to OFF as usual. For whatever it's worth...probably nothing....my entire issue had to do with trying to unzip my HitR download w/ 7zip or win zip.....it'd hang forever....and what made the finally unpack and install perfectly was to download 32bit winrar....not winZIP....and the whole puzzle unlocked, installed perfectly....and plays!!!! If there's anybody else hung on trying to unpack their download...try this and see if it goes. Beautiful work devs and thanks for the patch too.......CHEERS........gaw

Hey all.....has the install path changed in Win7? I have an OBD Software folder that has the game folder as well as the WW1 Scenery folder and lives on C/ but nothing in the old programs/Microsoft games folder....is this where it's supposed to be? Also c/ now has two program folders.....Program Folders and Program Folders(x86)............CFS3 lives in the usual place in the Microsoft Games folder but in the folder called program files(x86). I'm a bit at sea here...................thanks???
