love seeing screenies and vids....keeping the faith....somebody, somewhere is working on something cool....I LIKE to know it's still happening....there's real time, there's geologic time....then there's dev time. so great there's still a mystery that may reveal itself in our lifetime....cool!!!

it's tempting to say 2 weeks but that's been done to death.........I'm plumping for Xmas (Dec 25.....this year!!!) santa, and all that

heavens.....what turmoil! simple misunderstanding on several levels probably............I hope. haven't been around for a few months and am sad to see our house divided.....yikes!

well....no doubt i've missed a step somewhere but the kids gave me a killer rig which I expect many of you will know more about than I do. in anticipation of P4 I used up all my poor dad points and was set up w/ the following.. AMD Radeon HD7950 3GB graphics card Seasonic 650w Plus Bronze power supply WD Caviare Blue 1TB 7200 hard drive GSkill Ripjaws X Series 8GB DDR#-1600 memory AS Rock 990 Extreme3 ATX-AM3 mobo AMD FX6300 3.5 GHz 6 core cpu my nippers tell me that if this stuff can't rock the sim then something's badly amiss.....so....reloading all OFF HITR that's proper, and hooking the rig up to an Apple LED cinema display giving me 2560 X 1440 resolution...I can still only run the game at moderate slider levels. The visuals are stunning and almost overwhelming but the framerates are average at best. I fully expected to ram all sliders to the top and flap around @ 60fps average but I guess our expectations are born to be thwarted....full sliders equalled slideshow. I hooked up a smaller ACER screen whose max resolution was 1920 x 1080...which I've played for years happily.....but not only were the visuals lacking in comparison but the framerates were only moderately better. My ancient rig played framerates similar to this new one at identical settings. I MUST be doing something wrong. Anyhow....be warned...if any of you see what this sim looks like at max resolution on a gorgeous screen you'll never be happy again with what you had. And if any of you have a magic bullet to goose this rig into action...I'd be forever grateful

and in such detail......those miserable Albatri are dreadfully pesky....shredded within minutes....too busy staring about at the graphics.... Ol,,,,,your settings seen to work really well w/ this new graphics card

WOW..............the driver's did it......high 30's to 50's all around......what a difference!!!!! thanks for helping me sort this out fellas..........love this forum....CHEERS!!!

gentlemen..........thank you very much for your support and thoughts....I'll dig in and try to manage my expectations a bit. I run a fraps counter on the side and see 20 or less on the field, mid 30's in the air, and this with settings of 5,3,3,4,4. Also the skins take a while to load up when changing views....maybe I'll try lower res skins. But seriously, I'm sure the hi-res is a hit on the system but I've drunk the posion and it's really hard to go back. thanks again....

love these threads.....it seems the micro advantage each side alternately engineered as the war went on... tipped the scales a bit....but pilot skill aside...the planes I guess trumped each other in tiny increments that never-the-less were the deciding factor between life or death. Can't wait for p4 to see this stuff better than ever. The big decision....when I'm on German patrol in a D7....is to engage...(screw the consequences) a flight of Bristols....or give 'em a miss (lame....but sensible)....and find easier prey. Glad I'm in an an armchair with any number of do-overs instead of 10,000 feet over the lines....spoiling for action. Back in the day...at 20+.....they didn't have to worry about co-signing the kids first house loan application. We pick our battles...or perhaps they're presented to us....whatever...good luck

WINGS Over Flanders Fields - Preview #4 movie
gaw replied to Polovski's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
good fun...........motivation to buy a new rig to fit the sim....want to see...and hear all possible!! thanks for the taste -
Heavens!!!.....if "sound on board" means.....just what came with the computer, then I suspect that that may be the case....and clearly, I must include a sound card with an upgrade........which seems sadly overdue...especially as P4 will be here in 2 weeks. And no....all the other planes seem to deliver appropriate engine noise and perspective from outside and inside the cockpit.
-
Andy/Lothar....been away, freelancer....but back to you. The preload was a BIG help....still some slowing in a bunfight but MUCH better. I suspect when I upgrade audio/video/everything cards/computer...it'll all be good. Mean time....I've almost no full throttle Camel engine noise...mid to low sounds just right but full on practically dissappears. Other sound perspectives are spot on.....I've not tried everything....thx
-
Lothar....I'm ashamed to say I don't even know where to look for those specs. I do however know how to bung your preload into JSGME and will do so. Thanks for the link...I'll try it and get back to you....your sound files are relly nice!
-
Gosh...I know how difficult it is to speak up after correction.....but here goes never-the-less. Andy....these sound files are marvellous...and yes Lothar, thanks for the "they're there for a reason tip". I'm experiencing significantly reduced frame rates with your mod that are awkward on my computer. No doubt I need to upgrade and will do so soon, if only to be able to use great work like yours....never mind the next OFF...sure to challenge any system. But meantime, is there a work-around....like the preload in CFS3 that made so many of the sound/effects mods workable? Anybody else want to weigh in here? I think these sound changes are one of the best things available and I'd like to make 'em work w/out being slagged for saying so...or scrapping my rig.....yet. Anyone experiencing the same thing????
-
too right.....they're huge. amazing anybody survived training let alone combat.......filmed these in California a few years ago and was quite humbled by the monsters young men were expected to tame.....nice post....thanks again Ol.....you add such enduring perspective and dimesion to the whole game....WW1 and 2....cheers!!!
-
thanks corsaire.....looks like the Andy 73 sounds which has a 3.2.1 text file attached........rather than the Andy 73 engine sounds....is the one to install. I speak under correction here and am hoping you'll beam in Andy. Whatever...........these are phenomenal.....beautiful work....thank you!!!
-
just on a peripheral first pass in QC......the sounds are dazzling!!! Andy.....on a quick note....the file installs Andy 73 Sounds and Andy 73 Engine Sounds....one overwriting the other....which should stay as the dominant file pls? Nice work......
-
anybody tried 'em yet.....downloading now...been away for a bit....life interfere's....that sort of thing
-
these sound great!!!....all of 'em..............
-
it's the bike every time..........that age...it's all about wheels. one picks it....they all want it

breifing room.......150 mi round trip....I load 100%fuel which is supposed to be 175 mi good to go........... and arrive back with 65% fuel left??? OK.....load 25% fuel...good for a 100mi round trip and still arrive home w/ fuel to spare after a 175mi rt mission. I use warp.........which I guess must skews the values and have noticed after landing that the fuel remaining is reducing fast on the info screen...before the mission complete screen takes over and locks out. I've never noticed any aircraft peformance changes whether or not I have full fuel or less...and would love to see this factored in w/ w4. Maybe it's the warp thing that skews the curve but I know I'm not the only one that hasn't time to fly real time....anybody else????
