  1. I'm Off for awhile

If Duce Lewis saying: 'Going away on a church retreat this weekend' draws the ojection: 'I do have an objection when the occasion is an excuse to promote their religious beliefs' from Fortiesboy, doesn't it mean that Fortiesboy is using the occassion to promote (and - what's more - to state) his own religious beliefs. Sorry, I just don't get it - but I might be biased. Wallaroo Another forgiven sinner
  2. Omaka Aviation Heritage Museum

I had the privilege of a quick trip to the Australian War Memorial (and Museum) yesterday - I could lose myself for a week there without any trouble at all. The Peter Jackson short film - shown on a panoramic screen surrounding the SE5a, an Albatros DVa, a Pfalz DVII (??), Avro 504 & DH9a - is simply stunning. Even surrounded by reminders of the horrors and desperation of war and armed conflict (from Australia's earliest involvements before federation up to the present day) I was, again, reminded of my pride at being associated (even if only by virtue of my birth as a Australian) with the men and women whose sacrifice and dedication is commemorated there. Lest we forget.

Any reasonable chilled, crisp, dry white with some freshly cooked king prawns is a meal fit for a king.
  4. open letter to OBD

Winston, go if you must - but sorry - I just don't understand. I started flying flightsims with MSFS on a Commodore 64. My current system has FS9, FSX, IL2 1946 and OFF Ph3 1.32b installed on it. IL2 FB hooked me on Combat F/Sims. An enduring (from boyhood) interest in military aviation history (especially WWI and WWII) and Australia's part in it made inevitable my purchase of OFF Ph3 as soon as I could after it was released. Simply put, I think you've got it wrong: The updates have ALL been bonuses (or should that be boni? or bonae?) In my opinion OFFPh3 1.32b the best computer 'game?' I've ever seen.
  5. von Hantelman - certainly an ace!; and 'Mick' Mannock was a pretty dab hand the time he was chasing around in this SE.
