Error with installation of HiTR 1.46
PrairieFlcn replied to PrairieFlcn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks for the tip. That has taken care of it. Didn't realize the settings could change like that. It's always something new! Happy New Year everyone!! -
I just updated to HiTR v1.46 and upon trying to fly a quick combat immediately after I got this warning: Error updating Config mOverrides settings - File does not exist - Reinstall OFF! C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Appliacation Data\Microsoft\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\ConfigOverrides.xml Any ideas what happened here? Please tell me I don't have to reload OFF HaH and HiTR (and probaly clean install CFS3). Previous to 1.46 install I was flying HiTR with no problems. Thanks. TM

Where do the cartridges go...?
PrairieFlcn replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
In a book I'm currently reading there was a nice quote from an observer who flew in a DH2 about the great lengths he had to go to to collect everything that might go loose in his observers cockpit. I believe he mentioned a canvas bag for casings. Just changing the drum was done with great care since anything dropped up front went right through the props! -
DrI mission range challenge
PrairieFlcn replied to PrairieFlcn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks everyone. All good advice. I had been using the lean mixture keys a lot just to boost engine performance at higher elevations. I pretty much have tried all of these suggestions. It's good to get confirmation that throttling down before warp does have an impact. You've definitely confirmed that it's a common challenge. -
I've got the triplehead2go Digital and TrackIR setup and running. OFF works great as does FS2004. No way I could now go back to a single screen. The setup of the whole rig was fairly easy too. Matrox has greatly improved the software so it's pretty user friendly. I'm using 3 19" flat panels. It's so nice I'm starting to save up for an upgrade to 22" screens (maybe next fall). I have not noticed any drop in FPS with either TrackIR or TH2Go, but then I've got a pretty powerful machine. OFF v. 1.30 fixed a glitch in the Matrox screen resolution so it's all great now. The only downsides I could possibly come up with are: 1) the bezels (the frames between the monitors) act as breaks between screens but when you get flying and into the action you don't notice them. Matrox has a bezel management tool that helps. 2) You should set it up with 3 of the same exact type of monitors so it doesn't lend itself to collecting odds and ends, meaning more $$ for monitors. I can honestly say flying OFF with my current setup is the best sim flying I've ever done. I would endorse both TrackIR and TH2Go. (and no I'm not affiliated with either )

Apologies if this has been discussed before, I did search the forum first. I've been flying a campaign in the DrI recently and I've noticed that I'm getting sent on missions that are way beyond the range of the triplane at 100% fuel load, sometimes twice as far. I always hit optional mission but they all seem to be too long too. I end up just flying out to the front for a while to see if anything turns up, shoot up some ground objects and then return. The missions are usually escort missions to bomb airfields. I've read some of the posts about conserving fuel on flights but this seems beyond that. It's not a big issue for me as I work around it but was just wondering if others encountered this phenomena (the impossible demands of HQ).

Pass me a reality pill, please
PrairieFlcn replied to Dej's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I find it's a very odd sensation flying a few hours straight in OFF and then immediately going out for a drive in the car. I've got a standard shift so one really gets the impression of joystick in the right hand and rudder pedals at the feet. She just won't lift off the ground though! -
D.VII's in three flavors?
PrairieFlcn replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Ever since my first Revell plastic model back in the 60's the DVII has been my favorite Great War fighter. Have to disagree with Olham on this, I think she has beautiful lines and a very menacing demeanor. She's a dream to fly. Ever since I've gotten P3 up and running I've almost exclusively flown DVIIs (with a few QC sorties in the DrI and the Alb). The real beauty of P3 is the wonderful diversity. Enough choices to keep us all happy! I downloaded the tutorial tonight to try my hand at skinning. My first skin will be my own custom colored DVII. -
It's interesting to see the obvious gap in the 30's age bracket. Young children, little extra cash, and no extra time! I don't miss those days. I'm happy to be in the most popular age group for many reasons (No. 1 son off to college soon though).

off dog fight competion trial
PrairieFlcn replied to stumpjumper's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Multiplayer
I'd like to join you but I have to get my second internet connection up and running first. It might be a week or two. A year or two ago or so I used to fly with PilotsDen and his group and really liked it. I like the team missions, although I'm not that into bombing and strafing. Mainly I like the dogfights. I've experienced all the downsides that have been mentioned in this thread. The lag etc. I remember the first time I was shot down by a plane flying below me in the opposite direction (Whaaa?). But if we can find folks with systems that are reasonably matched it's a lot of fun. I don't take this stuff personally so it doesn't matter how often I get shot down. The real fun is just experiencing the unpredictable. Sometimes the enemy AI can get very predictable. Live EA are full of surprises. I'd like to try team dogfights. Haven't done it yet but I think it would be very challenging. -
Next airplane for OFF?
PrairieFlcn replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I voted for the D.VIII but would have also voted for the SSD.IV and the Neup. 28 if I had realized I could vote for more than one. I love the scouts! -
First of all, I'm finally back in the virtual skies and managed to find this forum (my first post). The info in this thread is great news! After two months of waiting for various parts to come in to assemble my new rig I finally got up and running yesterday (OFF P3 was the first thing to arrive!). OFF P3 is better than hoped for except that I also have the OFF Manager screen resolution problem with TH2Go. Found this thread today so will just make do until v1.3 is ready for download. I will second the endorsement for triple screen with TrackIR. It's really a great experience.
