I have come to the conclusion that I am going to need about 3 lifetimes to engage in all the WW1 hobbies I would like to get into!
OFF, reading, research, scale models, RC flying...maybe build my own damn plane!
Guess in one of those 3 lives I had better stay single...
Right On, Duke

Doing some reading (in fact reference the modeling thread here) and again I see mention of wingstruts being covered in cloth on some WW1 aircraft - specially in this case a SE/5.
Why cover struts in cloth in "real life" ™?
The only thing I could think of is protection from the elements but I wonder at the utility of that versus paint or varnish.
Do the struts get Cold ?

My Saitek Av8r-01 is giving up the Ghost so will have to buy a new Stick soon. It seems after 2 yrs the X-Y Axis is going out. So I ask, Whats a good buy out there ?
-
I have to say, The DH 2 and The Spad 7 as well as the N-11 are a little disappointing. The DH2 because of the Torque and Nasty Turns. The Spad 7 Limited View. Last but not least is the N-11 a real paint to take off, Torque or whatever the wing wants to dig in, A quick dive and pull out or a spit S and the wings come off.

Mine is set to easy and I still get shot down

I know in OFF we fly in a lot of bad Weather, But did the Pilots in WWI ? For Example, I have ran into a lot of Rain, Heavy Cloud, and Snow Missions. So I wonder in all that Mud and Muck ( poor Visibility) How did they do it ?

Olham: I got it to play its a Fokker Tri motor. On an historical note, There was a Tri Motor ( Ford I think) that used to fly every 3 months or so out of the local Airport, ( It was rumored to have been used for weekend flights for by a Mile High Club back in the 1950 s) Sadly, The Aircraft caught a gust of wind on take off back in 2009 and went end over end, No one was killed but the A/c was just broken bits Kinda like the one in the Vid

Olham advice about the Ram is right on. The windows 7 64 bit sucks up 1 GB by itself and as both Olham and
Slartibartfast mention Speed is the Thing.
