  1. Oh, interesting - I should check if it's included in the Expansion Pack...... (Or can somebody tell already?)
  2. Not too long ago I was starting to "play" with additional pilots and put VF-111 and VF-161 pilots into my Vietnam NAVY-Phantoms... (I even was able to change the 111's basic shell's white to yellow color, which I think is more appropriate for that era.) What I stumbled over, is that the pilot's .bmp always show pilot's faces, whereas in the game the visor is always down. Is there a way (key) to open the visors? I couldn't find any hint in readmes... Thanks for your comments
  3. Ah, thanks for the example..... Oh, btw: let me give you credits, because it was from your page, where I dl'd the VF-111 pilot!
  4. Thanks, I will think about that.... But for now it's okay for me to know, that I did not miss anything there...
  5. Ah, so the face would need to be "repeated" in the upper left corner (where I have that black block)?
  6. Well, the face was/is already there (see attached .bmp) but in the game the face is covered by the visor...
  7. Something that I noticed yesterday - not too much to worry about, because I only VERY rarely fly these models, this is just to report it... The B-57B doesn't show its fuselage in the rearview mirror: http://s1.directupload.net/file/d/2460/69w5zmn2_jpg.htm The G-model does: http://s1.directupload.net/file/d/2460/gckmuaxt_jpg.htm ...And if I remember correctly, there was some issue with the B's shadows, too.....
  8. Okay, thanks for checking, Eric... And just ONCE again: thanks for the fabulous XP - it's SO great!!!
  9. Over the weekend I stumbled over two oddities: - when selecting a USAF-ship on a single flight, I don't get the USAF-music playing (unlike USN and USMC which are working fine). I do have the USAF-sound-file in the /Menu-folder as should be... - when flying with the dials in the lower left and radar in the upper right-corners on (Alt+D), the radar-screen gets some "overlay" with the canopy rails and is hard to see so "black on black" - if i remember correctly, the radar was in the foreground all the time previously, right? Can you please check, if you have them just like me - someone? Thanks Oliver
  10. After applying the Feb Update and the VPFA to my SF2V (which both are truly GREAT again!!!) I also added the VF-111 pilot to the game. Here's my understanding to what one does: - a new set of pilot files (.bmp, .ini and 2 .lod-files) gets added to the /Objects/Pilots - one can assign, which pilot/s (front / backseater) shall be taken, by changing the/each aircraft's data.ini and my question: - can one assign by aircraft AND squadron, too? I'd love to see all my VF-111 ships manned with VF-111 pilots and VF-161 with VF-161 pilots respectively..... But when assigning pilot so-and-so to the F-4B_67 the same pilot is taken for all squadrons flying the B_67... (Currently I am running the B_67 with VF-111 as front- and VF-161 as backseater...) Can that be "fine-tuned" somehow? Some addt'l info: I found there's a lot of new pilots in the /Objects/Pilots-list already (coming with the XP I guess), but the aircraft remained manned with the stock pilots (except for red ones) - which is totally fine for me.
  11. Wow, sounds awesome - can't wait to add this to my XP! Great - thanks!
  12. Guess he wants to keep his (Ace's) stats.....
  13. When/where is that going to be available?
  14. After my notebook's graphics chip "melted down" 3 mths ago and I had my chip resoldered/replaced, I encountered a hefty stuttering in SF2V that I didn't experience before... What I saw yesterday - and what might be quite obvious - is that when I played SF2V (plain vanilla) as admin I was getting some 33fps or even better. When switching back to myself as user with the full load of the Air&Ground War XP, I was back to some 1 to 5fps... Okay, (even) I do understand that the XP puts a lot more weight on the graphics chip to calculate - I just wanted to share this information with you to get a second opinion, maybe, because - frankly - I'm lost what else I might do to get my old performance back..... (And it sucks to try to play the game at 3fps!)
  15. I have an hp-notebook. ...Notebook: okay, I know, that's not the best of choices for gaming/especially flying sims, but everything ran flawlessly before I had that 43-error, obviously connected to heat damaging the soldering of the graphics chip. AND I'm not sure if 7 would override whatever went wrong since the damage... Maybe a bit costly a try, or? The chip (btw) IS running DX10 already. Any hint if FS9 runs under 7 (without shelling out the money for 7 Ultimate)?
  16. Okay, that's something that I have not yet thought about... Interesting. Although that would be more kind of a bypass for me - as everything was a-okay before the repair. I am a bit hesitant, if an investment - money- and time-wise - would really cure my problem... How easy would be a switch like that then? Just run "some 7-software" over my Vista-environment and everything would remain as is except for the underlying windows-surface? Any idea if my MS Flightsimulator will still run under 7? Then getting 7 as a Christmas-present might be something to think about......
  17. Always happy to see more Phantoms - especially NAVY-ones... BUT: aside from adding the slatted horizontal stabilizers, wasn't deleting the small "bubble"-antenna on the top leading edge of the vertical stabilizer, and adding ECM antennae on top of the intakes part of Bee-Line, too??? (At least those are nor reflected on the add-on-screenie above.) Guess, those are the IMMEDIATE differenciators between the B- and N-model. Correct me if I'm wrong...... PS: just took a look on the screenies posted in the "Screenshots" - there the black tips of the ECM do appear (although not their tube-like structure), still the small antenna on the fin is there. And - don't get me wrong - I don't want to minimize your efforts. As said: I like every new version of the spook.
  18. As the title sais: when I turn on the fps-display (Alt+D) I am seeing the fps cycling from 3 to 6 to 20 back to 3 and so on... And all this within parts of a second... At the end of the day I have a pretty much bumpy "show". I checked turning down all graphic settings to "low", which results in great "top" score (40 50 something), but there remains a cycle with 3 the lowest and the "bumpy". Does anybody of you encounter this "cycling", too? Don't know if this info might be of help: I had my notebook (Pavilion DV9787EG with 2.5 GHz, 4 GB RAM and GeForce 8600M GS) repaired just recently; I got graphic problems which were the graphics chip getting too hot and coming off the mainboard (not too uncommon on that rig - that's what I learnt from googleing and what the repair shop told me - unfortunately). The shop resoldered the chip to the mb and every checked out fine. But after that I saw a drop in graphics performance in the "Vista performance overview" - from 4.8 down to 3.2. Don't know if there's a correllation... When asking on a Vista-forum I received some reply stating that the soldering might be done too thick, dragging on performance. Does that sound serious to you??? (Sth to go back with to the repair shop?) Btw: before the repair the game (SF2V with the XP and all settings high/unlimited except for shadow and effects remaining normal) ran smoothly while at 12 fps or so, only... But no bumps... Might DirectX have sth. to do with that? I know that I once downloaded and applied 9.29 to my system, although the chip is capable of (and now running on) 10. That's at least sth I might try this evening.......
  19. For completeness sake: turning off Aero doesn't change anything - the performance evaluation remains as bad as before (3.2) and SF2V doesn't go smooth.......
  20. Fubar, this (confidence that I don't screw up) ist sth. that I don't have... So, I'll end up with giving them a chance to re-repair. Cross your fingers that they can do better then..... Thanks again for all your input. PS: I tried turning off Aero but (if I remember correctly) that didn't change much if anything to the besser..... (But I'll try again to make sure...)
  21. I just tried the RivaTuner - but I don't even get that "Enable low-level hardware overclocking" checkbox (a totally different screen under the graphics). I can only tweak the clock on the driver-level. And I guess that doesn't take me anywhere, right? Btw, from sbdy else with an HP-9000-notebook (9500 unlike my 9700 though) with 8600M graphics, I learnt that his setting, too, are 500/1000/400. That looks like my problen not being some "underclocking"...... But what then??? I'm lost!
  22. Hum - what do you think, can THAT be changed with/by overclocking (actually bringing the values to the NVIDIA-specs and not overshooting them) the GPU? Am going to try that (OC'ing) over the weekend but talked to the repair-shop parallely to learn that they are willing to replace the chip another time... At least I have more than one thing to try..... Btw: checked MS Flightsimulator 9, too, yestarday. Although that one not seems to be as hungry as SF2V, even there I don't get a smoothly running screen... Not as abd as in SF2V, still no joy!
  23. Saw your answer after my post, Fubar. Thanks for the explanation... I read of "overclocking" recently, but I must admit, I am a greenhorn in things like that. But that is sth that can be done (oneself) with the RivaTuner (going back to the NVIDIA specs)!? Should that be done on a notebook - bearing in mind there are known problems with the chip heating up too much? So, I might ask the repair shop if they replaced the graphics chip with the old one (or same specs) - respectively, to me it looks like they did NOT!? Where do I go from here? I'm still disappointed that everything was a-okay before the "meltdown" (okay, THAT was a VERY bad experience!) and now I am seeing my fave game spitting into my face......... :mega_shok:
