  1. Yup, fully understood. And I absolutely share your view about "readjusting the clouds"... No real "solution"! So, not too bad that I might be able to live with that glitch... As I have SF2V May 2009b standalone on Vista, the Dec 2009 DOES offer an improvement for me - so I tend to remain at that stage. I am left with the ailerons-issue; but I might have been able to close in on this. See my new post (soon to come) about this in the "General Discussion".
  2. After discussing this with TK, I will try to screw a little with my setting - maybe I over-maxed my system.....
  3. Here is what TK proposed in order to put the clouds to a higher altitude (obviously the trees poking through the clouds is only seen on clouds hanging low): "...try editing EnvironmentSystem.INI, scroll down and find cloud sections - there are three, [CloudsScattered], [CloudsBroken], and [CloudsInclement], try adjusting MinBaseAltitude= and MaxBaseAltitude= up (higher alt, these values are in meters), and/or 3DCloudVerticalSize= down (smaller size, again in meters)." Well, actually this effect is not THAT bad (if those were all the "full" trees), but that "predictable pattern" of cross shaped trees looks a bit weird on the bright clouds... Anyhow, I will still "play a little" with the situation as is (as said, it's not ALWAYS that you see that effect) and may consider adjusting the height (or even a full roll-back to "before Dec 2009" - although I don't think that really necessary any more) later... I also asked about the ailerons-issue in the TW-forum... (The F-4's ailerons were not animated - after the patch (plus XP Gold) the F-4J has full working ailerons, all the other F-4's don't. ) Got a response and will try to get all my ducks in a row... I will come back to this as soon as I see clearly.....
  4. GFX - mean graphics? Well, you can do without HDR now... That's "quite nice"...
  5. I dropped the d3d9.dll and the enbseries meanwhile... No downsides to this up to now!
  6. Really? Hum.... First I tried deleting the d3d9.dll and the enbseries.ini (both of them) - as said, the stuttering was still there. Putting back (only) the enbseries.ini (into /Flight) then, did not trigger it running... Well, as the quality is very good now, even without it, I don't cae much... But, the stuttering should be gone? Phew, what's wrong then...? Cannot be performance-related (I think)..... Strange! edit: just checked GrinchWSLG's answer in the other thread about this patch here in the "General Discussion". He sais, the patch's description doesn't state the stuttering was remedied. (Right - that's not listed in the ReadMe.) You think it WAS, Falcon? I'll just ask TK in the TW-forum.....
  7. Ouch - that doesn't sound good (if even YOU don't have an idea )....... I thought that might have been similar to some "height"-issue, I read about (that in installs merged with SF2I the ships were down in the water too low / sunk) - that was to be solved by some adjustment in the terrain-heights... Hum, as said, I'll post it in the TW-forum as well (but frankly do not expect a solution as this is "third party"-related.......) Maybe I'll just take the roll-back-solution...... But thanks for coming back to this.
  8. Yet another addition: enbseries (obviously) don't get recognized with the d3d9.dll missing... On the other hand the picture is quite brilliant without the enbseries-powering it up - I'll play around a little to check whether I need the enbseries, or just forget about it...... Thanks again for your help!
  9. Just did it - and it worked fine! Thanks!!! What I noticed was some trees shining through clouds - see screenie. Was it like this before or does the patched game not correlate with the addition of trees...??? Anything to be done about it??? (I'll post it in the ThirdWire-forum as well...) And something else from the ThirdWire-forum: the F-4s ailerons don't move - spoilers do but not the ailerons... I DON'T remember - was that different before??? I'd bet someone would have stumbled over that... But I don't recall ever having seen them move. Guess/hope TK is working to fix that (he was steered to that Dec 3rd)...
  10. Just checked "deleting the HDR" (actually it's just deleting the d3d9.dll and the enbseries): didn't solve the "ground stuttering" - so that wasn't remedied by the patch obviously (and UNFORTUNATELY)...
  11. Just checked it out: deleted the enbseries and the d3d9.dll - it didn't show any negative influence (of course message and enbseries-effects were gone), but didn't change the "stuttering external environment" unfortunately. Too bad, I hoped that might have get fixed with the patch also. (Remember: I do not have nor want SF2I as that would crash my Expansion Pack mods, which I dearly love... Otherwise adding the SF2I would solve that glitch...) So, I'll put the enbseries back into /Flight and be happy with rest delivered by the patch. (I'm quite happy that it's still running and can be used with Aero now)...
  12. Ah, okay - why that? Does the new DX10-support deliver the same (performance and high-definition) as your HDR did before? Concerning my statement the HDR not running, I must correct it - the enbseries working actually DO pop up when loading the flight and the lighting settings are back as before. Maybe I do not get Boris' script shown in the screens before (Menu) as I disabled the enbseries in the /Menu (UseEffects=0 and all [Effects]=0). When checking this morning I didn't go as far as loading a flight - so I didn't see Boris' message then. So FORTUNATELY I do not need to go through that de-/re-install-routine........ So, you recommend kicking the d3d9.dll out again (as the DX10 is more current) - and the enbseries may remain to screw on the lighting, right? Thanks for bearing with me
  13. Well - except for the a.m. things I don't heve any problems (yet)..... To add to my findings: - the enbseries actually DO get triggered and are running - they just appear when starting to load the flight (after hitting the "Fly"-button the script appears in the upper left of the loading-screen again). Seems to work like before... Now, I guess (might also check that - although not too high on my agenda) that is because I disabled the enbseries in the /Flight (UseEffect=0 and all [Effects]=0 too)... - the stuttering ground is still there UNFORTUNATELY! Too bad, I hoped for that being remedied, too........ I'll try out deleting the HDR again and look for a difference (maybe the HDR hinders something now)... Concerning putting the Dec2009-patch up here: if only I knew how to...
  14. If changing those values is THAT simple, I'll add it to my list what things to check out... (Let's see what otherwise-working-thing might crash from that change... But rolling back doesn't sound too complicated... )
  15. Yeah, but applying the HDR-mod (by copying the d3d9.dll into the game and the enberies in the /Flight) worked well before. At least Boris' message appeared and I was able to play with the enbseries - which is gone now..... Any more input on that???
  16. Ah, good hint and well worth the try... Yes strange the enbseries not getting activated - as said, my (quite uneducated guess) might be the DX10-support overriding the added DX9-driver from the very beginning... I need to check out performance anyway. If I'm getting all the rest fixed and performance doesn't suffer much, I might consider living without the HDR - MAYBE....... And if all fails, there's is still the fallback-solution. Oh, by the way: I just recall the loadscreen (the "Welcome" being replaced) appeared before re-applying the mod-folder - so I guess (???) the "Welcome" might be back now... Thanks for your feedback, Eric
  17. I just ran the SF2x Dec2009-patch (NOT the one for/including SF2I!) on my standalone SF2V (plus Expansion Pack Gold) before leaving for work this morning (so not much time to check things) and "re-applied" my modded folder... What I found out so far: + the game now runs on Vista Aero (eventually) - before, I had to switch it off + new load screen (a camoed F-4 on tarmac) - well, I prefer the "Welcome to Vietnam" from the SF2V Expansion Pack - plane(s?) not shown in hangar screen - at least I saw that with the default F-4E (maybe I can find something - jpg or other picture-file - in the "stock mod folder" created after running the patched game once...) - the HDR mod 1.01A doesn't run anymore. At least Boris' script in the upper left doesn't appear - which (I understand) does indicate whether the enbseries are turned on or not. (Yes, I checked the d9d3.dll and the enbseries being still there.) Don't know if the new DX10-support implemented overrules the DX9 driver being part of the HDR-mod. Anybody more knowledgeable than me (well, that's not hard) might be able to answer/supply workarounds for the above? things left to check: - FPS performance - more things like the missing plane above - accurate support of the other objects implemented with the Sf2V XP Gold ...so, lots to do... (I'll leave copies of this post in the XP Gold- and HDR 1.01A-threads) Oliver

  21. Knowing the "real deal" *sic* I must/can say: you did an outstanding job!
  22. I was (mainly) hoping for the Dec2009-patch solving the "scenery-stuttering". TK was able to cure that with the SF2I-rollout, but SF2I doesn't correspond well with the SF2V-Expansion Pack... So, maybe..... If I had a Force Feedback-Joystick, I might have liked that it is supported now, too. But for all the rest included in the patch, I think I don't need that THAT much (as far as I learnt from the readme) - I guess... We'll see.
  23. Okay, maybe (hopefully) I'll be able to try that tomorrow - I'll let you know of the results! Thanks again...
  24. Was that the chatter that was to be heard on one of those youtube-videos? Man, that was cool - added a whole lot of atmosphere to the radio...
  25. Right yesterday TK published a patch for the SF2-series which now has Force Feedback effects added... At least that's what the ReadMe states.
