  1. Dogzero: see the latest patch (Dec) concerning the latter.......
  2. Same question for SF2V Expansion Pack Gold... I already asked Eric about that in the related thread. Will let you know if he doesn't directly in here...
  3. Nothing more to add, Charlie - WE (many) take benefit from sooo few of you! ...It's just so hard to show the amount of thankfulness...
  4. ...or does this patch include exactly those files (included in SF2I) that do not interact (gentle words for make the XP-mods crash) with several of the Gold's files? (Because in another thread I have been asking whether it might be of use to buy/install SF2I - and you answered to that recent question of mine already, Eric... )
  5. I just read about the Dec 2009 patch for the SF2-series available since yesterday... I am a little hesitant, because I don't want to loose my excellently running SF2V with the XP Gold applied - which I just LOVE. Any experience already if things crash with the new patch installed? Then, can the patch simply be installed over the existing environment or is a new install (patch first, then the Gold over it again) needed? Does the patch only change things in the programs- (not the mods-) folder? Any procedure how to revert back to "before-patch" possible? Hope there's already some experience to learn from... (I'd really HATE to see my SF2V/XPGold get busted! ) Thanks for your input Oliver
  6. Okay, good to know.... It's just a minor itch anyhow...... Thanks for your immediate answer (again) - great service! (Flew the KC-135 yesterday... Too bad, there's nor refuelling-missions in the game. But the bird looks impressive!)
  7. Yesterday I experienced some high-frequency flickering of trees when flying low over NV at noon with only a few clouds... It looked like all the woods were flashing (like when setting too high a sharpness/mipmapping on the flightsimulator-series). Can I adjust something in the settings to get rid of that? But again: the new tiles' color is really great...
  8. Does anyone have the manual (how) to configure the enbseries? Boris' page is down, unfortunately.... Thanks! Oliver
  9. ...Found it! Google took me to the doc's in the net....
  10. Firstly you got your wingman, then you have the flight (4 - 6 aircraft) going directly with you, and then there may be other flights joining your attack force (under your command).... That's the differentiation. Does that answer your question?
  11. The new tiles come HOT!!! They look really warm (instead of the cooler hue before) now..... Of course I very much appreciate the new craft, too. Once again - you (yourself and Pappa Goat) did a GREAT job! Thanks so much... Oliver
  12. I am running SF2V but have not the best AA-performance. I already checked out that my drivers (NVIDIA 8600M GS) are most current. The card's setting is to let the 3D-app decide. Okay, it's not THAT much of a disturbance, but I'd at least try out to smoothen the lines... Any recommendations?
  13. It's great - so I'll stick with it! (I thought, the 'Rivet Haste' might have some different exhaust than the other F-4s......) Thanks for your quick reply - I cannot wait to check out this new addition to the game. Thanks, Eric.
  14. I "found out" that hitting Shift+F12 "activates" the enbseries-file (right?)... When doing so, I can switch between a very (overly) bright picture (with a lot of bloom) and a darker one with a lot more detail being displyed - but looking more "dull"... I understand, I'm in need to re-adjust the enbseries (bloom, brightness...) to my likings (well, a few more posts about your favorites might be of great help ), but I wonder which is the "standard" setting, and which is the enhanced - the brighter or the darker one??? (I'd guess, the darker is the standard, but I'm not sure...) Secondly, is there still any "manual" for the enbseries around? Unfortunately Boris' homepage is down....... Thanks guys
  15. Okay, I'm about to close-in on this: 1) The Alt+D works fine... No prob whatsoever (and FPS between as low as 7.6 - when the machine was still busy doing "other tasks" I guess - and 60 something... I guess the drop to some - still satisfactory - 15 might have come from the use of the TrackIr, which I did not put on when checking yesterday)...... 2) That bloom-effect described can be triggered on/off by pressing key-combo Shift+F12. This goes in-line with post #52 on page 3 in the Speed Boost Thread: "I get that if I activate the file, try turning it off (F12 or Shift-F12 is the default I think)." So Shift+F12 does "activate" that enbseries, I understand... Unfortunately I do not find any documentation telling so. What may have caused trouble in my case - I guess - is that the TrackIr uses F12 as the key to re-center the screen - so it's "hot" all the time thus my hitting Shift (only) was enough to cause the screen lighten/darken.... So, what I'm gonna do is: a) re-assign F12 for the TrackIr to some other key not used by SF2 or FS9 (my other major flightsim) b) check FPS with TrackIr in use - any slowdowns? c) screw on the enbseries to adjust the screen to my likings (I am adding a post to that Speed Boost-thread for that)... I'll keep you posted... PS: and thanks for the info to re-install by deleting the three files, only. From that I read that it's the case the game itself creates the enbseries in the Menu-folder...
  16. Wow - again such a mass of improvements and added aircraft! I downloaded and extracted it yesterday right away - still need to apply it. And I'm zealous to see it... Eric, one question: in the ReadMe you say that there's "an alternate DATA.INI for the new F-4E 'Rivet Haste,' which uses "heavy" exhaust emitters. The alternate DATA.INI for that aircraft is contained in the \Optional\DirtyExhaust directory. This alternate DATA.INI uses the DirtyExhaust Emitter, which should have less of an impact on performance for those with older systems." I'm a bit puzzled, I must admit - does the "heavy" exhaust emitter come with the 'Rivet Haste' as default and the /Options includes the DirtyExhaust Emitter which serves as a roll-back for the ones with older systems, or do the "heavy" emitters still need to be applied by copying them from the /Options (and are they - surprisingly enough - more performance-friendly)? I have always been using Exhaust Emitters you supplied as default and was more than satisfied with that... Thanks Oliver
  17. If you just bought the game "fresh" from the TW-download-site, it is most currently patched and doesn't require the patch. (Doing another patch over that, will scrap your install...) Have fun!
  18. PS: rolling back to "before HDR" does not require more action than simply deleting the "d2d9.dll" from the game's data plus the two "enbseries" from /Flight and /Menu in the Mods, does it? (Or does the mod do any more changes somewhere...?) Btw: do you copy that after applying the two files (the .dll and the enbseries into /Flight) the system produces the enbseries in /Menu itself? In a Back-Up file (before the HDR-Mod) I didn't find any enbseries anywhere (explicity checked the /Menu: no enbseries before!)... And it didn't come with the Mod either... (Maybe I got some problem from that direction???) And I guess that running the graphic-settings from the NVIDIA-panel ("override in-game-AA") doesn't collide with anything - no, that cannot be the case; you're running perfect like that......
  19. Hi Falcon - see me puzzled: yesterday I was having that "Shift-thing" again... After taking off from a carrier, I adjusted the radar and played around a little (see if I could acquire a target) when - suddenly (at least I didn't NOTICE that before) - hitting Shift changed the brightness-setting again... Maybe that was related to some key-combination I hit mistakenly (do you know of any working with the HDR or enbseries?) That same effect (like over-exaggerated bloom and an overall very/too bright picture) was back in the Main Screens, also. To furtherly check, after I finished flying, I restarted my computer and then that "Shift-thing" was gone again and I didn't happen to reproduce it by hitting keys in that "radar-key-area"....... Now wtf??? But interesting news: As long as I was flying, I found out about Alt+D - seems it works in cycles: from the "base"-view with the set of plane-information in the lower left, radar in the upper right and target-info (if any) in the lower right, hitting Alt D once adds the FPS (for graphics and game veeery fast changing values, and the top/lowest values plus delta below) and hitting it again gets you rid of these. Alt D another time brings back the "base"-view....... (Btw: I'm getting between 7 and 15 something frames - rather low figures, but I have quite a smooth display except for the "stuttering" grounds. So I'm not unhappy with those...) I wasn't smart enough to check Alt-D after restarting the computer - so I don't know, if that might have gone with the "Shift-issue". I have a hard time to believe I couldn't find about Alt+D when I checked the day before... Hint to some problem there, maybe? Now, assuming, I might have "hit some key", do you happen to have some of the programmer's enbseries-description to send me, maybe? And if you could post (or send) your enbseries-entries that would help me, too, I guess. I could adjust values accordingly to start trying... (Before rolling back to "before-HDR" as the next step.) Actually I did not experience ANY problem of the above (okay, I didn't check about the Alt+D ) before I applied the HDR, which brang up that strange Shift-issue... Concerning the SF2I, merged install with SF2V and have the Expansion Pack, Eric clearly states that they have been running into trouble with this combination which they have not been able to fully solve. So I'm quite reluctant to apply SF2I as well... Thanks again Oliver
  20. I just checked the game's manual again: Alt D is listed there as to display the HUD... ???
  21. So, we're not yet done - I see... If I buy and add SF2I merged with SF2V, I would get rid of that stuttering in both games...? Quite an idea, seeing the price of SF2I. (Then I just need to find out, if SF2I works with my SF2V with the Air/Ground War Expansion Pack already applied, and if I can install SF2I right over the existing or would need to re-install all again...) Btw: anybody knows if the workability with Vista's Aero is incorporated (with SF2I) yet? (Good question for the TW-forum, I guess.) edit: I just re-read the ReadMe coming with the Expansion Pack, which says that applying the XP to a merged install of SF2V and SF2I can lead to several issues - so it is not recommended...... Seeing this, I guess, I will stick to my stuttering but extensively enhanced SF2V XP...... Another question about Alt D: I tried yesterday but nothing showed up! I thought it might be differences between US- and European-keyboard-layouts, but the D is the very same key (same position on board)... So that's not it... Do you have some application that is triggered to show the fps with Alt+D?
  22. No, I have SF2V - standalone... Hum, sounded promising you stating the patch fixes "the stuttering" - guess you mean the "partial reload of scenery thus making it look - well - stuttering". But at least good to know that it's in the game and not related to hardware or settings... And maybe (HOPEFULLY) TK will come up with a fix for the other games/standalones, too... (Will he???) Guess this is the end of this thread as I got my probs fixed - thanks to you guys!
  23. Hi guys - thanks for the Alt+D! I will try out and check... (The FRAPS might be useful for recording flights, but I will drop software I don't use, if it doesn't fully convince me... The Alt+D is exactly what I looked for initially.) And concerning the bloom (if that IS bloom) - utmost astonishingly it was away, when trying yesterday! ...Just away... Yes, before it showed when hitting the Shift-key ONLY (and, no, I didn't do anything to the enbseries, except for changing the AllowAntialias-settings before). Now, nothing happens on Shift alone. And I didn't change anything - just put the system to "sleep" for the night... Very strange... But I might play a bit with the settings, though. What "latest patch" do you you refer to, Falcon? I downloaded and applied the HDR Mod 1.01A (and my SF2V is on "May 2009b") - is there any other update or patch to applied over that? Thanks again for helping!
  24. I just read about the "Bloom" and other similar effects in the "Speed-Boost"-thread accompanying the HDR-mod... Sounds like that might be it. That still leaves me puzzled: did you fix sth. about that (presumably some setting different from that in the standard enbseries), and why the heck is that one triggered with the "Shift"-key only??? If I could reprogram that effect to some other key (not frequently used) it would be of benefit already... Concerning the fps, I downloaded FRAPS to try out. Do you use other proggys and what's your opinion?
  25. Back with results: Interesting - it was new to me, that NVIDIA-panel allows to assign settings to programs - cool! So, adding SF2V to the list, disabling the game's AA-presets and entering 16x for anisotropic filtering and 16xQ AA (plus setting the game's AA-entries (in Options and the two enbseries in /Flight and /Menu) back to "0" - although I guess this would not be necessary) produces outstanding results. I would say the AA-effect is much the same as the "16" setting in the Options but the 16x AF does very well. I did a lot of testing/checking for slowdowns, but I didn't "see" any - which brings me to my next question: how do you guys get the FPS displayed on the screen? (I saw that on a couple of pictures added to performance-related-posts.) Maybe that's a total newbie-question, but - sorry - it's totally unknown to me... AND: One strange thing I noticed with the new settings: when hitting the "Shift"-key in the game (splash screen, pilot data or while flying - doesn't matter, it's on every screen) the picture gets "overexposed" somehow - all the lighter areas "whiteout" with a lot of "halo"-effect... Hitting "Shift" another time returns all this to normal. (While in the game one might experience/interpret this as opening the tinted visor of the flight-helmet...) It's a bit bugging when in-flight you change a setting by keys "Shift+something" and you get this "flashing" effect......... This certainly is strange - any idea what this might come from? Or, do YOU experience something similar? Finally: how can THAT be solved? (I already checked the settings in Options/Controls/Customize: there is nothing assigned to the "Shift"-key alone...) Thanks - AGAIN - for your help.
