  1. And - does it drag on you system's performance?
  2. ...and does applying the brakes by depressing both pedals at the same time work better (="gradually") instead of just "apply full brakes" or "release brakes" with the B-key? Furthermore (as I have my three USB-hubs busy already) can the pedals be attached to the system via hub? I would not want to disconnect either the X52 or the TrackIr from the direct ports, but would have it share a port with the mouse then... See, I'm looking for Christmas-gifts already!
  3. Sounds cool... So, guess I'll write them on my wishlist. And it should be no problem to assign the brakes to the pedals, I assume!? Any info about my hub question?
  4. Good to see my question is answered not only to mine but more people's benefit...
  5. Yo' kiddin'!? Hum, and what to do now? Revert to some older version (where would one get one and how could one revert?) or wait for a new one to come up?
  6. Oh-kay, thanks for the hint... I might try that out... Where do I find that flightengine.ini - and what other effect/influence does this have?
  7. I just noticed a wohle city (or the ground it stands on) flickering - RF-4 mission (the second-last plane from the list when starting a single mission)..... Same as above? But: KUDOS - you got rid of lots of ships smoke! Great! And that shadow-line was gone (or at least I didn't see it any more) on the f-104... Good job! Now it's time no throw away some old back-ups...
  8. It took me a while to check out the "Gold"... A comment on the ReadMe: from the text I assumed the RWR rattlers would be included as default now and was puzzled not to hear them in flight. I found them in the /Extras/Sounds then (and was easy to add them to the /Sounds), but it might be a good hint to people not having used the "Betas" before where they can find how to apply them... Back to the battlefied.....
  9. Yes, I already "nosed" in there - I have had a couple of books already (Stackpole publishing offers several "first-hand-recollection"-books) and found this rather old book in an antiquarian book store, when in Boston... Cool!
  10. @ eburger68: thanks for clarifying, Eric... I will correct that. (Btw, on my vacation I found a book I just started reading: "One Day in a Long War (May 10, 1972, Air War North Vietnam)" by Ethell and Price. Great literature to accompany the game...)
  11. Just returned from vacation on the weekend I found that you uploaded the Gold! Cool - I downloaded it already, started installation and am eager to see what will be new then... (Oh, btw "Mobile SAM's": the readme says to "copy the folders from the /Mobile_SAMs folder" to the GroundObjects - so simply copying the "Mobile SAM-folder" into the GroundObjects - so creating this folder in the GroundObjects - does not do the same?) And then the announcement that more terrains are to be expected in future "Terrain Updates" - wow! Thanks, guys!
  12. I have Dave's RF-101G installed in my SF2V. There is a strange line going from the nose of the aircraft to the ground (see screenie). What is it/how to remove it?
  13. Thanks for explaining... And I fully share your view that if doesn't look/work convincing, better leave it away! That's why I like the XP SO very much...
  14. Interesting! Most of those sound pretty cool - especially the Destroyer-variants: - EKA-3B - EB-66C/E - RB-66B/C and - E-2 - P-3 when around the Carrier Battle Group. The tankers - KC-135 - KC-130F - KA-6D would make most sense if some refuelling-function would be coming with it, but that's out of scope - I know! (Hum, the KC-130 with some Jollys behind..... ) Although I LOVE the Constellation I think that the Recce-birds - U-2 - RC-135 - EC-121 would mostly be seen on the ground, right? And what's the S-1? Well, thinking of Vietnam, Choppers come to mind immediately. Why is it that those are so hard to get into the game? (Hueys and some Jollys - the latter working together with Skyraiders on SAR-missions - would be great, I guess.) But I definitively do not want to bug you! I am thankful for what you deliver as add-on to the original game already - even without new planes coming with the Gold!!! @ JediMaster: as said - no offense!
  15. You guys sure keep track of things like this - just in case that not ( ): wouldn't the PanAm 747 (http://forum.combata...632-pan-am-747/) add a lot of atmosphere to the Tan Son Nhut airport? I thinks it fits the theatre - so would it be worth including in the "Gold"? What do you think? Just an idea... Oliver
  16. In my SF2V I found the ship's exhaust smoke too dark/intense/thick. (It even shone through mist and clouds - especially visible when approaching the aircraft carrier in heavy weather, when the plume of smoke can be seen long before the carrier itself...) I learnt that the detail for this is the line "ExhaustEmitterName=ShipSmoke" in the ships' "DATA.INI" Deleting the "ShipSmoke" makes the smoke go away (meeting my personal preference a lot more). Two questions about this: 1) the aircrafts' exhaust smoke is absolutely great (and far less thick) - if THAT could be "exported" to be used as the ships' smoke, too, it would look awesome, I guess. But I think this is a totally different source of data (like flowing vertically and things like that). Any idea how to make use of that one, anyhow? 2) I already found several ships emitting that thick smoke in the Mods-folder, that I could change easily. By means of an extraction tool I found some more in the CAT-files within the "basic" folder - and I just learnt, that applying a change on them needs the FULL folder (like "Tanker" or "CV-63") - including the changed DATA.INI! - to be put into the Mods-folder... (Will try that soon.) But Eric (eburger68) told me of some TYPES.INI to change the "Russian Freighter" which should be somewhere in the terrains... Can somebody direct me to where I might find that one? Checked the ObjectsXXX.CAT-folders and the Terrains.CAT already without success. Thanks for your ideas. Oliver
  17. Of course I meant: "changing the volume down to .2..." - not .5! But I still have to try out changing the ExhausEmitterSize.....
  18. Hum, I have ShipSmoke and ShipSmokeEffect both under my Effects in the Mods-folder. Changing the Volume-values down to .5 (or even .00005 for that matter) did not change anything - that's very strange, as I thought this sounded like a very sensible solution... Why doesn't changing that have any effect???
  19. Cool hint! I'll try that... (And it sounds very reasonable...... )
  20. Eric, thanks for your reply. Okay for the line - not much of a problem... And concerning the MiG: yeah, I already figured that was my mistake. I will try to remedy this (or if I run into problems, simply wait for the Gold to be applied to a "fresh" Mod-folder...) Finally thanks for taking up the "bug" wit the F-104's rudder. Great support! Oliver
  21. Thanks for your info, Kevin. Guess creating a new smoke would go (far) beyond my skills (at least for now).... And having the Russian Freighter statically is fully okay for me. How/where (in what file/s) can I find it, then? I would just want to check, whether it emits smoke too, and try to "delete" it, then...... Funny screenie - the ship sails behind its wake; must be due to that incredible speed of 50 kts! Oliver
