  1. Quite amazing story you got there Baldric! I can't even imagine what could drive these men, not only those on air but also the other in trenches. In my mind this war makes no sence at all, no matter how I try. itifonhom
  2. In view of the trenches, surely an aircraft looked much better option. And I suspect that in some way they thought that these aircrafts were state of the art technology, well for that time these aircrafts actually were top notch! Just imagine what someone might think after 200 years for an F-18 fighter! (If mankind still excists of course). I'm sure some of these guys felt like a "Top Gun" hero but with much more victories!!! itifonhom
  3. OH Ryan, I'm so sorry to see an ace of Jasta 2 die! We're going to miss him for sure. And we're going to drink for him at the Offiziers klub this afternoon. itifonhom
  4. The campaign is so awesome..

Well I use QC also but I have to say that while in QC I'm really a good dogfighter, in campaign it seems I bite the dust for no reason. Me alone in a Alb D2 against 3 N17 veterans in QC I win although bad peppered. 3 Albs D2 against 2 N17 in Campaign I'm the first to go down! itifonhom
  5. The campaign is so awesome..

Well, I don't warp, not anymore, but I try and choose missions not that far and possibly not too far on the "other side". But I use TAC and sometimes labels, mostly for recognition but in big furballs I use labels even for fighting. I still think that I play fair, after all actually being there in a cockpit with three dimensional vision, side vision, 3D sound and all has nothing to do with looking in 22" 2D monitor and try to understand your suroundings. And if I was really at Jasta 2 I'd have Boelcke all the time by my side teaching me all the tricky things but now I'm almost alone, apart from this community of course!! This sim is all about fun not frustration. itifonhom
  6. Wow, that's really amazing! And all this in a DH2!! As it seems the Major defies the odds, keep being carefull and stay alert, although I wouldn't like to see you behind me. itifonhom
  7. OT... AAARGH! :(

Hey Olham, I'm sure that observer was a bit overreacting, it's not that bad meeting the Baron after all!!! :-) itifonhom
  8. How do your pilots die?

Yes, the D2 flies wonderfull even bad shot. You just don't have to flare too early, let her go really down near the ground and only pull the last moment. itifonhom
  9. Can we have a Pitts with two Spandaus and crosses in OFF, let's say 1916? Please! Amazing Pitts video, awesome flying skills! itifonhom
  10. Really bad luck kamerad! I try to stay at our side of the field, I hate it when the crumpets get me. Too bad that the Rittmeister must drink tea at five until the end of the war. So never talk about your pilots! itifonhom
  11. How do your pilots die?

That's why we remember the ones that make it a bit longer, because all the others die so soon!! Sometimes I think that all these craters at nomansland are there because of my pilots crashing!!! :-))) itifonhom
  12. Wheel Chocks

Mission 9 Scramble Pilot: " Hey mechanic, remove the chocks please, I got to start" Mech: " No Sir, I can't do that" Pilot: " Why not?!?" Mech: " Your motor is still cool, it'll be irresponsible from your side to start now Sir" Pilot: " Do you see this bunch of Albs diving on us? Do you think they come for dinner?" Mech: " Sorry Sir, I'm afraid you have to wait" Pilot: " Will you get the f*ng chocks off NOW!!!??" Mech: " No Sir, I won't" Pilot: " Well , then you are fired! Get the hell out of here!" Mech: " You can't fire me Sir, I'm enlisted!" Pilot: " Well, then I push "Brake Release" mister!" Mech: " In this case Sir your motor seems to be fine now, free to take off!" Some short Spandau bursts later..... Mech: " Sir, I said you can start now..... Sir? Everything's ok Sir? Is this blood on your chest? Sir, may I put the chocks back?" Immersive, isn't it? itifonhom
  13. RIP Cpt Kerry Jones

He was a fine guy the Captain, at least he had a quick end. Hip, hip...... itifonhom
  14. I'm usually NOT supersticious but I am now for OFF. By the time I speak for my pilot he dies, I think even when I change to another dossier kills him. I'm afraid that a time will come that I won't take a bath just for my pilot to live!!! This sim is SOOOOOOO. immersive! itifonhom
  15. I'm so happy for you Olham! It really looks great. In fact so great that maybe I'll try and get me one too! itifonhom
  16. Nope, no Blue Max for me! Got to get the Hohenzollern but died short after! To be honest, I don't think I'll ever make it. itifonhom
  17. Well, I got no idea about FMs and climb rates but I don't think air war has anything to do with who's flying the best aircraft. If it was like this, nobody would bother dogfighting anyway, they would just drew the results on the map! But history teaches us that this is not the case, never was and will never be. So when I'm up there and see Nieups dive like Stukas, I just follow. That's dogfighting! itifonhom
  18. a surprize

Hi carrick, well, you can approach the BE2c level with them, they won't go anywhere! So you will have time to see if they bite!!! But it's good to see you lived to say the story! itifonhom
  19. The campaign is so awesome..

Hey Rossmeister, nice to see you have a good time out there! Say goodbye to your social life and be prepared to loose some sleep! Since I started campaigning, I lost some hair too! itifonhom
  20. Question to our German Friends

As much as the "dark side" concerned, I think it has only to do with the fact that one side actually lost the war. It is always like this. The bad guy is the one that looses the war and I can't recall of a single example of the opposite. North-South, Germany-Allies, USA-Japan. Specially at the Great War, I think the actual "bad guys" were the generals from all sides, who sacrified millions of their soldiers for nothing! A single German soldier maybe was responsible for one or two deaths, if at all, but the generals..... I really wonder how they could sleep at night! They were responsible of destroying a whole towns population in a single day and that of their OWN soldiers, how "dark" can that be? The only way I use the term "dark side" is like "disco boys vs metal fans", you know, the "dark side"!! Not sure how offensive is for the Brits to be called "disco boys" but I don't mean it bad. itifonhom
  21. Well, whatever the intentions, the result is same, you got a TrackIR5 and you're going to live before your pc for the next months! I wish my wife was like that too! Mine makes only the bills go crazy but forgets the guilty feelings!!! :-)) So, how does it feels? Is it smooth? I always wanted to see a comparison between TrackIR and Freetrack. itifonhom
  22. Question to our German Friends

".......Being a community that was exiled from another home I am very proud to be a member and associate of such a fine group." Since I'm rather new here, I fail to understand. Exiled? itifonhom
  23. Question to our German Friends

"Briths sailors, look, read and remember"!!!! Hahahahahaha, I'm sorry guys but that's ridiculous! Hope we don't have any British sailors here!! It's amazing to see how naive people were those days. And if you project all this to prasent day, how naive we are believing all this sh*t we see everyday on tv! Wonderful posters you got there Olham, I really apreciate your archive! itifonhom
  24. Question to our German Friends

About the "Jerry" I think you're fully right BH. As far as I know, from this derives also the word "Jerrycan" which is actually a "German Canister". itifonhom
  25. Question to our German Friends

Hello fellow OFFers, I'm not a German, so I can't really add anything positive here. Although I generally disagree with Olhams' point of view on this matter, I wouldn't like to start a WWI debate here. :-). What I'd like to add though is, that actually, giving names to the enemy, reveals a need to strengthen the own lines and thus shows weakness. If someone can crush another, doesn't start to insult him, he just crushes him. I think all these names are a good way to see how unsure and afraid actually people were those days, that tried with names to stay up to the task. itifonhom
