  1. Well, you can expect that this movie is bad, Til Schweiger is maybe the worst german actor at the moment. His only success is through his manlike face that´s rather loved among female fans, although the man IMHO is a gay. But you know, women love even that. Otherwise he is at Arnold Schwarzenegger level. Even a 10 y/o boy at school theater acts better!! Anastasios.
  2. Here's a link with a description: http://www.macworld.com/appguide/app.html?id=100597&expand=false . I just saw that there's even a Lite version for free, I think I'll try it later tonight. Anastasios
  3. Hi everybody, I just bought the April issue of Modell Aviator, an R/C model magazine in Germany because there's a review of a silver Nieuport 17 from E-Flite. I am no R/C modeler yet but maybe, if I manage to overcome the first learning curve and costs I will invest some more time in the future. As an extra feature there's a big poster in this magazine with (I think) all the single motor fighters of Germany, Britain and France from '14 to '18 at side profiles. Not something very special but still a nice addition. For people living in Germany, just take a look at your local store, maybe you like it. Anastasios
  4. Called "Dogfight" and costs 1.59€ here in Europe. No comments until now, suppose nobody bought it yet, propably not many people with iPhones/ iPods like WWI sims. If you decide to get it, please let me know how you like it. Anastasios
  5. Anti-Ubisoft DRM petition to sign

Signed as 7077. Nice move indeed!! Anastasios.
  6. I already played that on my iPhone and it's great fun! A bit tricky on handling but still wonderful. There's even a WWI dogfight game for iPhone out there but never tried it. If anyone recommends it maybe I will. Anastasios
  7. Ubisofts DRM servers fail -

Well, I'm afraid I have to admit that I'm a bit more sentimental with gaming than this. Played games on a shelf aren't just a collection to me. They bring me back in time somehow, I remember situations, discussions, feelings I had at that time. Those games are doors to my past to me. Exactly like my models. I still remember the problems I had at work how I thought about them while building, when I see the old wooden model ship decorating my living room. If I'm going to play Crysis again? No. This time is over, now I play OFF and next week maybe AC2. And I'l always remember this forum and you guys when my eyes fall on BHaH box! Same with my Albatros D.III I'm currently building! Anastasios
  8. Ubisofts DRM servers fail -

Well, I am the kind of gamers that, if a title is that good, and I find lot of titles that good as my wife always complains, then it has to be on my gaming shelf, among all the other great games of the last 15 or so years. An example for me is Crysis. I played the whole game through at a internet cafe while on vacation in Greece and was so amazed that when I got back home, I bought the game and put it on the shelf but never got it installed. I knew I´m never gonna play it again but still, it had to be in my collection! Assassins Creed 3? I don´t know yet. Maybe no, as Silent Hunter V won´t ever be. Anastasios.
  9. Ubisofts DRM servers fail -

Well, I am still willing to buy AC2, just because the first part was absolutely wonderful. I will give this chance to Ubisoft but: Since I´m no longer 20 y/o, I don´t "have" to play any games, I enjoy pc games like a good wine, must be enjoyable but don´t have to get drunk! If Ubi spoil this then certainly won´t buy AC3, no matter how good it is going to be. I stopped playing the Silent Hunter series after part 3 because I was really frustrated with a half finished beta rather than a game. I find that this market is big enough to find the right games and more developers come in to fill the gaps or take advantage of the others mistakes. I don´t support piracy but I don´t care about piracy either. As I don´t care if there´s a thief in the supermarket. I just want to go there, buy my wine and enjoy it, not having a police officer over my head! And of course this battle is already lost for any developer since there is always the same pattern. A smalteam of programmers against the whole world! How do they hope they will have the perfect protection? Never happened and it´s never going to happen. Although Ubi says only 5% of gamers was affected it seems that it was rather BIG 5%!!!! Anastasios.
  10. Hi again fellow OFFers, as already said in another thread, I currently build an Albatros D.III in 1/48 from Eduard. A reissued Profipack version, quite nice as a model. I just finished the wood grain painting, just the rough thing, no shadow and things but looks rather nice I think. Lot of paint job yet to be done, so I´ll keep updating this tread until the model is finished. Any recommendations, tips, critique, anything you like, is of course welcomed. Many thanks for viewing, Anastasios.
  11. Ok, just sprayed the green and added some shadows on it too. The grain shows through just a little bit but I´m not sure if I got the effect right, what do you guys think?? Anastasios
  12. Remembrance

Probably the finest WWI/OFF video I´ve ever seen, quite amazing work! The music, the views, the cuts, everything´s perfect, very very well done Sir! And your low passes are quite breathtaking, I don´t ever go soooooo low! Thanks for sharing, Anastasios.
  13. Thanks guys, your comments are really quite motivating!! I almost finished the shadowing of the panels and painted the rudder plus some rough shadows on it. As everything, from the cockpit back, will be painted green quite soon, I need some extra harsh shadows here. Of course photos always show the shadows too harsh, maybe I didn´t found the right technique for this type of photography yet, this last update is photographed outside with natural light, no flash. At the moment I just wait for the oils to dry, all the paintwork is artist oils for now, and the green comes next.
  14. Thanks guys, kind of you. Here´s an update, some basic shading to the panels.
  15. Hi everyone, I´m currently building the reissued Albatros D.III from Eduard at 1/48 and I´d like to use the Ernst Hess livery, which is one of the kit options. Since, as far as I know, Hess is burried in Wiesbaden at the very same cemetery as the Red Baron, not far from where I live, I thought that at some time I´ll pay him a visit too. Photos from my build, as well from my visit there, of course will be posted here. So, to my question. I´ve noticed some differencies between the kit livery and the one at OFF and I´m a bit unsure. As far as I know, there are no photos of his Albatros but maybe someone of you, with your fantastic libraries, can find a profile or rendering or whatever that might help. If anyone can help a bit, would be really great, thanks for your time, Anastasios
  16. OT: Ernst Hess

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Perhaps in Hess's case there wasn't enough green paint too, so maybe they had to thin it quite a lot and some grain showed through. Who knows? I made a lot of mistakes on this model already, one more won't destroy it for sure. I hope that at the end it will decorate my desktop quite beatyfully and maybe it'll become part of a small figure presenting diorama. First things first. The wood grain must be finished! Once again Olham, you are an invaluable source indeed, thanks! Anastasios.
  17. OT: Ernst Hess

Yes, I see what you mean Olham and thanks for your feedback! I don't want to start a debate here but I think that there "could" be a difference of the quality and opacity between WWI field paints and that of modern reproductions. And when I see the see-through crosses on MvR red Albatros, I think that may these paints have been a bit transparent. Not that transparent to let the grain show like wood stains but maybe a little, just for a good effect , bit dramatic and more colorful! Of course the crosses offer a lot more contrast underneath, I know. That's why I said, I maybe take some artistic freedoms and go on. Again Olham, thanks a lot! Anastasios. P.S. The wood grain effect on the model is almost ready, so I will have some photos to show very soon.
  18. OT: Ernst Hess

Exactly that's what I mean! On a model is also quite dramatic to see the wood grain underneath, that's why I like the idea so much!! It's a bit hard to paint maybe but what the heck, isn't that what's all for? After all, it's going to be only a desktop model and some things went already wrong, so I'm open for everything! Since it's my very first 1/48 WWI model, I don't expect too much. I take it more as an exercise for the upcoming Wingnut Wings Albatros D.Va, just to find the right techniques. And of course as an hommage to Lt. Hess, a brave "neighbor" of mine. Anastasios
  19. OT: Ernst Hess

Wow!!! Although I searched and searched, never had the chance of seeing this profile! Many many thanks OvS, that was really helpful. I can even see that the left upper wing is light green instead of dark green that the OFF skin is. But no transparency on the fuselage green. Hhhmmmm! Maybe I will have to allow me some artistic freedom here! :-) Thanks very much indeed! Anastasios.
  20. OT: Ernst Hess

Thanks OvS, In fact, the differencies between the kit profile and the OFF skin are only two actually. The hue and transparency of the green part of the fuselage and the standard camo on the upper wing. I read a page of "Albatros Aces of WWI" of Osprey on the net where stated that only reports exist about the colors of his plane. I'm not sure if in this book there's a rendering of his D.III too. I like the lighter hue of the kit profile but also the slight transparency of the green on the fuselage, as of OFF skin, so maybe I'll get the middle way. I just thought to make a try and gather all the info I can, before I start painting Thanks again for your reply, Anastasios
  21. I think I´m not really able to think anything but just one question about P4: When?? Anastasios
  22. Wie Schön!

Wonderful but still not yet available. How sad!!! Anastasios
  23. I may give it a try soon!! Anastasios.
  24. Nominate ONE aircraft for P4

British Phantoms or Harriers!! Zis iz ze only vey ze crumpets ever have a chance against ze forces of ze Kaiser!! Hehe!!! Anastasios P.S. If I get my hands on an Albatros C.III in OFF I promise I won't fly anything else, ever!!
  25. Scrambles in OFF

I agree with Rickitycrate, delay your take off. When the enemy scouts are at your level, take off and start hunting, they got no advantage this way. Anastasios
