You bar-steward! How dare you look at my girlfriend like that!
  3. Would anyone happen to know the format for a distress call request/response? Something along the lines of: Request: "This is _ _ _. Requesting evac from _ _ _ _, over." Response: "Roger, search and rescue has been notified, hang tight, over." Like that but less ... Hollywood. Cheers
  4. A couple of new kit items added. Cheers
  5. Rgr that. Over at simhq we have a similar thread going and a NG UH-60 ALSE technician gave us a ton of info so there's not much left we need to know about the subject You're presuming the people of Herat have phones to phreak! The MK-124 it is then. You wouldn't happen to have a photo showing the complete label? If not, no worries, I can duplicate this label onto both 'sides'. http://www.specwarge...ear-MK124-1.jpg Other than a canal there's no water on our terrain but we'll keep the HEEDS bottle in mind for future projects. Cheers and thanks for the help
  6. Combat-Helo. A new series of Combat chopper sims starting with the AH-64D Longbow. Our development blog can be seen here. http://combathelo.blogspot.com/ And if you're a facebook user. http://www.facebook.com/CombatHelo Fantastic! Thanks for the list. A quick Google reveals that the MK.124 is Navy and the MK.13 is Marine. I presume the army has something similar? Cheers
  7. In Combat-Helo, pilots will be able to exit their Apache. This will provide the player the option to escape and evade, navigate back to base or await pick-up. To make these options viable we will provide the pilot with a set of survival items. We plan to include: A compass A flare gun/signal flare Coloured Smoke grenades A service pistol or Sub-machine gun Tactical beacon radio These are items we presume a pilot carries so we're interested to know if anyone has a complete list of what an Apache pilot carries as part of his survival kit? Here is the complete compass. CSEL (Combat Survivor/Evader Locator) MS-2000 IR strobe Gyrojet pen flare Cheers
  8. A few more images added. Cheers
  9. We've been working hard over the last couple of evenings polishing the Apache front and rear pits. It now uses normal & specular maps to create a dynamically lit and detailed environment. We've also been working on implementing the TADS. Still in early stages but it looks promising! Panel back-lighting. There are also lamps. Both the lamps and panel back lights can be adjusted for brightness on the cockpits lighting control. Cheers
  10. New video featuring the CH-47 and all it's whoop whoop glory! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlEOJO3aQlM
  11. It's not really up to us to make comparisons, that's for the reviewers and the public. At this point it's too early to say what level of 'realism' the avionics will reach. There's still quite a few MPD pages left to add and there are so many other aspects to making an enjoyable/playable sim, most of which we still have to complete. We can say that the cockpit experience will be highly interactive and very functional. Also, the front seat/back seat multiplayer capability should provide for a unique and original experience. Cheers
  12. It's really difficult to make that comparison, primarily because the aircraft in LOMAC are so different to the AH-64D. The longbow is such a user-friendly, ergonomic environment that even a MilSim grade Apache sim could be mistaken for appearing 'sim-lite' when compared to a sim DCS Black Shark. There's still quite a lot of avionics code to add in so at this point any comparisons would be premature. Cheers :)
  13. a Sounds good. :) If you have any questions send them to me via PM. I'll forward a copy to Richard (Flexman) and we'll compile some answers for you. :) Cheers
  14. Panel lines and shading complete. Now for the rivets.
  15. Mediumcore is what we're aiming at. That is to say, not the MilSim approach of Falcon 4/DCS:BS, and not the sim-lite approach of TK's sims. A comfortable middle ground with a fully clickable cockpit but without the need to remember a 30 step engine start-up process. :) Cheers
  16. Lots of little bits and pieces fixed and added. Almost time to add the panel lines and rivets.
  17. Thanks. :) Door guns and gunners will be added and it should even be possible to man those guns yourself. For Combat Helo: Operation Ouroborus (the first release) the focus is on developing a flyable AH-64D Longbow and an AI controlled CH-47F Chinook. Other Choppers will be developed and combined with other data to form expansion packs. The OH-58D isn't currently on the short list. Thanks Dave. It was interesting to find out that the length of the Chinook's fuselage is almost identical to that of the Apache's! The twin rotor system combined with longer blades mean it requires a larger landing area. We are swinging much closer to 'mediumcore' rather than 'hardcore'. Cheers

  21. In Afghanistan today, the Chinook is probably more important to the troops on the ground than the Apache is. It brings in vital supplies, delivers troops to targets and pulls out the wounded. It'll be a big player in Combat Helo, and you'll spend much of your time making sure that they stay alive. Current plans are that the initial expansion pack will feature a fully-flyable CH-47D with a detailed cockpit.
  22. Thanks Erik and Combat Ace. We'll do our best to keep the forum updated with the latest new and previews! Cheers
  23. It's unlikely we could find the funds to implement a DRM scheme but honestly neither Flex nor I are fans of DRM.. That said, distribution is still up in the air and there is the potential for using Steam. No guarantees yet, but DRM is unlikely. I agree, terrain is our weakest aspect. The engine is designed for first person shooters and so the terrain system is very basic, everything must be placed by hand (yep every tree!). It tends to look nice from very low altitude, very detailed from high alt, but a bit bland from medium alt. What would you specifically like to see changed in regards to the terrain? Cheers
  24. An hour later, got a bit of a body.
