Raaghhhh... There is only one common point between Marc's SU-27 and TMF Mig-29 is the FM. I did it  -

ErikGen will confirm it but I think it's 1962-1982 version (with R-4R & R-4T missles)... Thanks for the engines info... BTW, could you confirm the performance info I have ? Empty weight: 24,500 kg (54,000 lb) Loaded weight: 40,000 kg (88,200 lb) Maximum speed: Mach 1.65 at high altitude (what altitude ?) Range: 3,200 km (2,000 mi) -

Erikgen and I are still working hard on her I'm working on the Flight Model and have hard time to find reliable infos about its performance. For instance wiki gives 2 different values (one 98KN and one 107KN) about Lyulka AL-7F-2 max power... So any good info are welcome -
Speed & Acceleration in oct08 patch
kreelin replied to Spillone104's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ok so adjusting the fuselage Cd0 alone seems not to be sufficent But here is the 104A flight envelope (an extract of NasaCR2144 doc IIRC) . As you can see, the bird max speed at 10kft is 1.3 in nominal config and Mach 2.0 is only possible above 30kft. -
Speed & Acceleration in oct08 patch
kreelin replied to Spillone104's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Argh... Fuselage Cd0 = 0.0253 is definetely too high for this kind of 3D shape... It should be something around 0.005. Cd0=0.0172 for the real plane is believable. I think I have some data of the 104 somewhere. Have to check... -

Speed & Acceleration in oct08 patch
kreelin replied to Spillone104's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
TK changes his physical engine to be more realistic. So before changing anything, It would be interesting to know how many time it takes to F-104 to reach Mach 2 in real life. -
Mig-21F13 vs Jianji-7II

Thanks alot F-16CJ. For the ammunition, can you confirm that it is 60 for each gun (2 x 60) and not 60 for both (2 x 30) ? -
Mig-21F13 vs Jianji-7II
kreelin replied to kreelin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yes FM = Flight Model . Thanks a lot for these insights Erwin. That means I won't have too much work to convert my 21F13 FM to Jianji-7 FM  Ok lets sum up: J-7I = MiG-21F-13 but with 2 NR-30 or GSH-23 F-7A = J-7I with more power WOPENG-7B (WP-7B) and new dragchute compartment position. J-7II = J-7A with HTY-2 ejector seat. F-7B = J-7II's export version.Updated western A2A missiles such as R.550.Better ejecteor seat. -
Is the MF MiG-29A a Sparrow Magnet?
kreelin replied to NeverEnough's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hmm... You fly in HARD mode don't you ? Never get what you described in high or low speed . Unfortunately my FM is always for HARD mode only. That's why sometimes AI doesn't fly it very well. -
You manage to read it  What does it mean ??

My Mig29 manual (german Mig29 pilot manual) doesn't have all those details about performance. No doubt in real life bird... But let me check why I did like this. Have to find my Mig29 structural pics which shows the fuel tanks placement This is not really my part. I don't know much about weapons. But as already discussed in the "realese thread", there are so many different version and sub version that it's hard to find the right information. But again, those are really easy to change so you can do every correction you want  What do you mean by caption ? Can you post a screenshot ? I use J.Roskan Aerodynamic formulas As I said above to answer Gr.Viper, I change my x and y coeff for the inertia formulas to avoid to use TK's damper. It's physicaly not correct but the result is the bird behaves much realistic near the limit of flight envelop. In fact the game engine will give you the same result if you change the inertia values and play with damper But I don't like damper effect I know...
-
Not exactly... The inertia is based on empty weight. But then I balanced it by the fact that I do not use TK flightcontrol values PitchDamper RollDamper YawDamper With experience I found that you get a better result playing with inertia ... Again, what is important for me is to get the bird flying like in reality. How do you think I manage to build an "realistic" Helicopter FM in this game
-
Lindr, I'm uisng a translator so I'm not sure to fully understand what you wrote but I'll try to give you my answer (in english cause my russian is not hot ) First of all, I think it's really important for you to know that TK game engines is great but it's not a 1million $ military simulator (unfortunately for us  ). That means sometime you need tu use "wrong" value to thing fly like reality in the game. For instance, the maximum mission raduis value we use in our data is ABSOLUTELY wrong compared to real life... But we set it like this because after several test mission (more than 100 missions), we figured out that AI planes always fall in BINGO fuel. This kills the fun. So until air-refueling is possible, we choose to do what we think to be the best solution. This is just an example... Now about using some data from Falcon 4 (http://www.checksix-fr.com/downloads/falcon4/Topolo/perf/Perf-Mig29.htm) As you can see, there are some real data from Mig29 manuel there. The rest are computed data. I don't know if you have such details in your manual but if so, you are a lucky man . About the amount fuel amount for each part. Again, in real life fuel tanks are manage by system to avoid changing the gravity center of the plane. The syetem doesn't existe in TK's game. So we decided to put exactly equal amount of fuel for each tank. And to finish, I see here and there some people complaining about the performance but nobody gives the details (alt, speed, rollrate ?, acceleration ? ....) needed to see what could be wrong.

Is the MF MiG-29A a Sparrow Magnet?
kreelin replied to NeverEnough's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yes you really need to have always an eye on fuel gauge with this bird. During the FM building process, I flew a lot of generated missions to see how the game engine uses the 29. I figured out that you only have 10mins of hot actions if you want to be sure to have enough fuel to RTB. Of course it's a "mean"... -

kreelin replied to NeverEnough's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well unfortunately how can we make it differently in simulator (or game) context ? We know all that what we have on paper, whatever it is (weapons, cars, hightec stuff...) is always different when you use it in reality TK chose to use statistics and why not... Unlike for LOCK ON, we can always change the data if we don't like it I like flying reds because of the challenge. -

Well what kind of ROE do you use ? You need different tactics when you fly red birds. AI Phantoms and their AIM-7s are very good in BVR so you have to be accurate in your missile avoidance process
