Awesome! Welcome to Falcon! Looks like you just hit the top 2 of 3 questions asked by new guys. And I certainly don't mean that in a bad way, we love answering questions. You understand, makes feel all smart and stuff. Hag PS Steering after landing rounds out question #3.

I can also recommend flying with a virtual wing. I'm part of the 72nd VFW, so obligated to mention them. <laughing> We have pickup flights that anyone can join in. I also recommend searching around and checking out many of the other fine Falcon virtual wings. We often fly cooperative flights with many of them. Pick the group that you feel most comfortable in and we will see you in the skies. Check us out at 72ndvfw.org and say 'Hi' at 72ndvfw.org/forums Hag

I'd recommend shelving the old 4.0 and head over to these guys: http://www.lead-pursuit.com/. Saying that they have significantly improved the sim is an understatement. If you do a little googling you can pick it up for about $10US. Download the 1.013 exe patch and install and off you go. If you are looking for some friendly guys to fly with check over at the http://www.72ndvfw.org/forums/ . I'd also recommend googling as there are many active wings flying today, find a group that you feel good with and start joining the pickup flights. Good luck and welcome back, Falcon missed you. Hag

Anyone a member of the72nd virtual Fighter wing Here?
Hag replied to draken's topic in Falcon 4 Series
We have open flights everynight, anyone can join. The 'becoming a member' check flights makes sure you are not too much of an ass and has nothing to do with your capabilities. Open flights are available for everyone, even asses. Hag -
Anyone a member of the72nd virtual Fighter wing Here?
Hag replied to draken's topic in Falcon 4 Series
Yes, I'm a 72nd founder. You are welcome to ask over at our site. We use skype for daily flights, we generally hang out in skype get a few guys together and fly a mission. We haven't used ventrillo for quite some time; for the weekly squadron or wing flights we use teamspeak and separate everyone into their flight channels with flight leads holding a whisper to a command freq. I know this is too little too late, but before you change anything you should have made a backup of the obj folder. That way if anything weird happens you just delete the working copy and rename the backup and you are back to original. If you did not backup your obj folder, save your log file and reinstall, put your log file back and off you go. A reinstall should only take about 20 minutes. Hag

Okay... i'll help. It may be your disk. It's scratched and cannot read the file (where it freezes) properly. 1. You can get a friend with a better (blu-ray) drive to copy the disk for you. The blue ray laser is "finer" and may read through the scratch. 2. Buy a new disk. Hag PS You should let Falcon intall itself in the default (x86) folder - no need to do any crazy admin / xp mod thing. A proper disk will install easily on Win7 without any obtuse changes by you.

How do you get up to 3 mavericks back on F4:AF
Hag replied to 1017bricksquad's topic in Falcon 4 Series
Yes, you'd have to use something like F4Browse. You may grab the quick link here or google it: http://tactical.nekromantix.com/f4/downloads/F4AF_F4Browse_v2.5.rar Hag PS Using this utility may cause issues with MP games and game stability. -
How do you get up to 3 mavericks back on F4:AF
Hag replied to 1017bricksquad's topic in Falcon 4 Series
Friendly advice 1: TRY to lay off the ALL CAPS it is considered rude and yelling. Friendly explanation 1: F16 only carry 3 mavs for ferry operations, 2 mavs for combat! Now you are asking "why"? The reason is that the 3rd mav's engine is pointing directly at the stabs of the f16. Launching this baby can destroy your stabs and cause your aircraft to spin out of control and crash ( worse case ). Best case is the stabs will be damaged requiring repair before that aircraft can be launched again. Removing a/c from combat service is pretty much a no-no. That is why you only see 2 mavs in AF and real life. Hag -
Try MigBuster's ideas. If that doesn't work let us know when you can upload a pic and we will try to help you. Hag

Could you post a screen shot... i'm pretty sure most of us know what it is, but it could also be 20 other things as well, a screen shot would clear it up for us. Hag

Yes, I've read that nVidia completely giving up legacy code. What has happened to nVidia? Eight years ago I was complete nVidia fanboy, laughing at the ATI fools. About five years ago, I switched to ATI due to the insidious nVidia Falcon shimmer. I immediately noticed a color difference and sharpness change, I'm still not sure which is better, I think it is completely up to personal taste ( blondes or brunettes thing ). Now ATI is completely blowing nVidia out of the water in every area. I still have a happy spot in my heart for nVidia and hope they get their crap straight when DirectX11 becomes mainstream after the coding optimizations of Dx10 have been locked ( almost there ). Hag

Now I'm totally confused. Don't worry, it's not you, I get confused when I drink left handed as well. Someone please correct me if I am wrong ( I loaded the Saitek stuff over 4 years ago, and the new 64bit stuff last year, so I may have this backwards ), but here it goes: The SST is the Saitek programming software. The SD6 is the Saitek drivers for your computer. You should have installed the driver ( SD6 ), then plugged in your stick. Now anytime after that you can install the SST stuff to take advantage of the profiling capability of your HOTAS. If you have only installed the SST, then your stick is being controlled by the default windows drivers and will not be able to communicate to the SST software. You definitely need to restart your system with your X45 unplugged and install the SD6 software. Then plug in your controller when prompted. After the drivers load then place my profile in the appropriate place and start you SST software, right click the icon near the time/date and choose the appropriate profile. Good luck, If I have it all arse backwards, check the user manual or Saitek site on getting your drivers and software setup properly, then come back and ask if my stuff is still acting weird. Hag

@taktik: Try our open flight nights over at www.72ndvfw.org Hag

Where did this come from? I've installed Falcon 4.0 Allied force in the default location without issues. C:/Program Files(x86)/Lead Pursuit/... This is correct, if I enable T&L my frames/sec drop drastically. I have not created a BFOPs.cfg file and everything is running perfectly under Win7 Ultimate 64 bit. The corrupted knee map is indeed an nVidia issue, it doesn't look like they are going to correct it either. Hag

Have you downloaded the latest drivers for your Saitek from the Saitek website? Have you gone to http://www.nemojio.com/saitek-x45/ and downloaded the profile? Have you unzipped the download and placed it in the folders as listed? Hag
-
Here's my X45 profile: http://www.nemojio.com/saitek-x45/ Download and extract the zip file to your desktop. Once extracted the folders explain where to put the files: GoesInFalconConfigFolder -> place the F16AF113_X45TIR.key file in your falcon Config folder GoesInSaitekSD6ProfilesFolder -> place the F16AF113_X45.pr0 file in your SaitekSD6Folder normally found C:\Users\Public\Documents\Saitek SD6 Profiles If you have any trouble ask here or the forum on the site. BMS was the end all be all of falcon development! It was a hell of a dance to get it all on your hard drive properly, but once you did: just WOW! The feel, the sights. I can still remember flying on the deck during a nightime rainstorm, and seeing the hill tops lightup from lighting flashes, even had lighting hit so close to me it lit up the ground and I could see houses by the flash. Amazing stuff made a long time ago by some very talented people. Hag

thanks emengency... that makes it perfectly clear... I guess I just wasn't understanding him properly... need more sleep! Hag

I'm sorry I wasn't very clear there was I? Another flight could have hit your target before you, leaving you only those few targets to destroy. IMHO rockeyes should be dumped as singles with a 1500ft burst radius and a spacing of about 1000. This gives a very nice coverage; put the thing on the center vehicle and hold the pickle. Remember the bomb string centers on your target(piper); AKA half will fall before and half will fall after your designated target. A better weapon for Air Defence would probably be something like the CB87: Burst 2500, spacing 750 Good luck, Hag

@jtullman: I'm glad I could help. I'm not sure I understand your question, it seems you've answered it yourself. You can press the keystroke (ALT-I) which is the same as pressing the IDLE DETENT, just like pressing CRTL-E is like pulling the ejection handle. In the virtual pit, you can also 'click' on the idle detent; same thing ( well, almost, one is a keystroke and the other a function of the pit ). Hag

No, it's not possible. A couple of things could have happened: 1. They drove off after the attack; but as you mentioned they would not leave the KrAz behind, so in this particular case I doubt that is what happened. 2. After you took off another package targeted and destroyed your target or they hit your target after you did. Falcon has a living breathing combat environment, the best ever created; if you didn't destroy an important target others will be sent to clean up. Hag

IMMEDIATELY: MOVE THROTTLE TO MIDRANGE and TOGGLE the THROTTLE IDLE DETENT. If you can react before the RPM falls below 22-23% you should get a relight if there is nothing major wrong with your engine. Reset EPU after start. PRACTICE THE ABOVE over and over until you do it without thinking. If the immediate relight fails or your RPMs have fallen below 22%: 1. Close speedbrake 2. 3G/30degree Climb @250kts 0g push to arrive at 200kts 3. Jettison External stores 4. Throttle to Idle 5. JFS Start 2 when airspeed is below 400kts and altitude is under 20k 6. Throttle to midrange 7. When the SEC light goes out, hit the Idle Detent for relight 8. Verify RPM climbing 9. Adjust throttle accordingly 10. EPU switch to off then NORM 11. Return to base If your AIR SOURCE is set incorrectly (or it could be ENGINE FEED - I can't remember which ), a negative G manuever will deprive your engines of fuel causing a flameout. Good luck, Hag

No, not in FalconAF. If you TWS - SAM lock a target and fire that missile will track the target currently soft locked. If you unlock and pick another target the missile will lose the data feed from the F16 and attempt to find a target using it's own radar. This may be the initially selected target or your friend. When firing multiple missiles the last missile will track the proper targets with the other missiles acting as maddogged. Yes, in FalconOF. TWS locking properly works allowing multi target selection and destruction. Hag

Well written emengency. That's what we do. Take 3 humans along for the ride each loaded out with mavs and you can almost completely destroy a tank company ( seems like I always miss at least one fueler or truck ). Hag
