F-105 air superiority fighter variant.
UnknownPilot replied to KJakker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I know this is an old post, but I just had a mission experience that got me to thinking about it again. Set in '64 with crap missiles. I took an F-8B (TMF) up north for a tangle. It randomly generated a messload of MiG-17 Fresco As. And they were fodder. Here's the result - 10 kills. All guns (both 9Bs missed [predictably]). And the only thing that prevented it from being even more than that (at LEAST 11) is that I was basically out of fuel, I had to break it off and Alt-N to make it back. (I say at least 11, because I know there was one more around, not sure about more than that, perhaps, perhaps not, I was starting to think there was no end in sight lol) They did the same thing for about 90% of the mission - fly straight and level, riding stall speed. They occasionally moved a bit to make it trickier to shoot them, but not too much, and only one of them ever actually shot at me. It's starting to look like this is an early year thing. But most 17s that I see do just this. It's kinda messed up. Regarding another comment you made, yes... I've been dragged and bagged a few times. And each time I'm slightly annoyed, somewhat ashamed, but also actually happy - glad that they are able to do that. lol -
Kreelin's FM....
UnknownPilot posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Been doing a lot of downloading, installing and playing lately and have some questions, thought I'd put them all in one thread. Reading a thread where someone wanted to put a TMF MiG-29 FM into the Marcfighters Su-27, someone else posted a link to an update from Kreelin, as well as some pics of what was possible. I got that, and was just amazed. It's fantastic. And shows the strength of the TW engine as well (in LOMAC, for example, the only way to do a Cobra is to press the K key, it's a kludge (maybe that's why the K key was chosen lol), just a bit of scripted animation, much like the landings). ====================================================================================== MiG-29A: This got me to wondering if there was such an FM for the Fulcrum. From what I've seen, I've got the most recent MiG pack (this one - http://forum.combata...-mig-29-soviet/ ), and while the Russian MiG-29A is an amazing ride, it can't do a Cobra. When I follow the same advice as per the Flanker's FM update (slow to 500kph, pull max deflection as fast as possible, and ride it out till speed drops to 200kph), it gets the nose up fairly high, but not quite vertical, and then kicks off to the right and mushes out. The upshot is that you can abuse the hell out of it, whereas the Flanker now requires a very delicate touch. I was just wondering if there was a more intricate FM available for it (the Fulcrum, one akin to the Flanker 1.5 update FM).... or if this is just right? (I thought the Fulcrum could Cobra, but maybe I'm mistaken?) Also, it's my understanding that the Soviets did not water down the Fulcrums sent to Warsaw Pact nations. East Germany was WP. So the German LW MiG-29G should be every bit as good, just "nato-ized". But I would swear and bet money that the Russian A is superior in terms of combat mobility and ability. Yet.... when I looked at the data.inis they appeared to be the same. Am I crazy, or is the German one actually just a bit worse? Should they be the same? Should I copy the data.inis? ====================================================================================== F-16: Also on Kreelin's site was an FM update for all TMF F-16s. I only have the F-16A_Blk1 installed. Since it was an FM pack for all of them, I decided to get it and pull that one out to try it (copying the original files first, naturally), and when I tried it, it "felt" like I would expect an F-16 to feel like, it seemed a little more 'robotic' in roll response (again, what I'd expect, so that's a positive), but seemed like it was a little scaled back. When I put it in the hands of the AI, I found out just how scaled back it really is. I have a mission where there are 2 waves of F-16s - 2 airborne for a headon merge, then 3 that take off later from another location (though the 3rd of that group is usually spawned inside a mountain for some reason), even though they are A's, it's set in 2007 (because it was originally an Su-30 mission that I edited all the planes in for various testing options, since I liked everything else about it), equipping the Falcons with all aspect 9Ls, making them pretty deadly, and they are quick to fire those things off too. I've used this for various comparitive tests just for fun. Once I installed the updated FM, the challenge of that mission was gone. It was a total walk-over. One of the first 2 crashed on it's own, the other was just sort of hanging around and I gunned it down. The 3rd was missile fodder, and then I missiled 2 more on the ground and straffed a 3rd (sometimes they have trouble taking off, it's odd). The first 2 were a head-on merge and they fired about 5 missiles at us, but we both evaded them all, after that, like I said, the one crashed and the other just sort of seemed to give up the fight. Has anyone else tried this FM? Any comments on it? Is it more accurate, or should I go back to the previous one (that came with the MF F-16A_Blk1)? -

What do you mean by the Falcom famile maze? I've heard that systems modelling has gone up in quality in LOMAC, so where would that be lesser compared to F4? -

I thought you could link the radar for guns and SAMs in SF2? I am sure I've seen stuff about that in regards to mission building and how taking out 1 radar won't necessarily take out a site as it may be linked to another. Mobile can be modded in. To what extent I don't know for sure, I just know that it was an option in the Expansion Pack 2.0 install, but I removed it as the frame rate was too poor and the flak simply too dangerous. As for sweating.... I don't, only because I know each time I go up, there's a 90% chance that some random hit will take me out, no matter what I do - no matter how many people I take with me, or how fast I move, or how low I fly, or how careful I am about ingress and egress, or how many (or few) passes I make, or what i'm flying.... it just doesn't matter. And actually, flying G/A actually is safer than A2A, because at least in the former you down in it and can fly around things, undert SAMs and use hills and so on. A2A you have to be up high were everything can shoot at you, and of course they never lock on or shoot at their own. Technically, I'm sure you are correct, each individual piece may be undermodeled, but it's a flight/air combat sim, not a SAM/AAA sim. The goal of a simulation is to recreate the experience - whether Apollo crews training, or us computer jocks having a bit of fun. And to that end, not every little tiny detail needs to be done to 100% fidelity. You need to look at the overal mix and adjust accordingly. I still maintain that even using the lightest AAA/SAM options from EP2.0 it's sill too deadly, simply because it's a guarenteed death sentence. It's just a matter of time, how long can your pure luck hold out. And SEAD missions.... ugh, forget it. I often cheat and leave and re-enter to generate a new mission, because those ARE death-sentences. You can't coordinate with your wing, and they seem to know who is AI and who is not and you WILL go down. The only way I've found surive SEAD or generic late 60s missions is to bring the whole damn squadron with me. This way the flak is split enough that I stand a slightly increased chance of making it back. (and probably alone) Speaking of undermodeling that leads to increased danger - I brought an F-14 back (to an airstrip) last night from my vs. Falcon test mission and got nailed by the flak on the map. I lost the right engine and right main. When I landed it dropped down and I reacted and caught it then paused and went to external. Sure enough, wheel missing. I snapped some shots and then decided to try my damndest to ride it out. I was giving rull right rudder to steer into the missing wheel (to try to rock the plane the opposite way) and slow down gently and hold that wing up as long as possible, but as soon as it touched.... BOOM! I exploded like a 1000lb'er went off. lol Ah well. It's still great fun. But it's good to talk about limits, not as complaining, but as a means to highlight them so that they can either be removed by the dev (about as likely as forcing a mule to drink), or worked around by the modders. -

Agreed. Wish I could help. I've dabbled with 3D modelling and have managed to make a respectable AIM-54, but it's not animated and I just can NOT get it mapped for a skin. Intense frustration over that led to me giving up on the project. The modelling part isn't so bad, it's that damnable UV mapping crap that pisses me off. lol I guess a designation is still needed as well. And perhaps some background? Supposedly, according to this thread, they could have been operational before the Tomcat, as early as 1972. 'Cept they weren't. Most what-if stuff I play with is modern and I take it as being just that, current/modern and perhaps even sold to foriegn concerns. ("Polecat", et al) I suspect that this would lead to a lot of flight testing and development, but then again, maybe not. I think as with the name, the designation should be similar. F-4 something.... F-4SW is the obvious one (SW - Swing Wing ) They've had B, C, D, E, F, G (2 of those), J, K, M, N, S, and EJ. X perhaps? Kinda cliche, but still sorta cool (plus visually, the X contains a swept wing config (lower half), and represents a hinge or pivot for 2 straight pieces to rotate around). SW could work. Would this be a Navy lineage? Meaning, gun? Or no gun? If Navy, perhaps O or P as those are some of the next avialable. -
Kreelin's FM....
UnknownPilot replied to UnknownPilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hey Kreelin. Thanks for the reply. As I said before (can't remember if it's this thread or eslewhere), I'm just seeking the latest and greates that I can find of each, even if it's still limited. Please don't mistake my comments as complaints about you or your work in any way. Thanks for the info on the A. I wasn't aware, so that answers that. Which ones could? Would the C do it? Not that I'm obsessed with that move, I'm just curious is all. BTW, I LOVE your Su-27A update. The pit looks better and the handling is amazing. It's tricky as ALL hell now, but that's ok. IIRC I read somewhere that the real things have some sort of pressure system on the stick that lets the pilots know through feel that they are riding those limits, but doesn't prevent them from over-riding it. Would be a bit nicer than just a beep, but as the Cougar is not FF... well, I'll manage. hehe I can perfectly understand being too busy to futher update the F-16A. But I do wish you (or some other FM guru) could. It's a great plane, and while I do have a passion for accuracy, in the absense of any MP capability, it's also nice to have a firebreathing AI too. On a side note... I've been looking for a 29S and K. Are there any out there anywhere, or perhaps planned somewhere? -

A single seat A-6?! That would be an awesome what-if to add to the stable. (too bad I can't mod for crap lol) Regarding your FMs, I didn't know your process, but was saying that while they ARE more agile than stock, it's not like they are turned into UFOs or something, because they aren't able to out-turn the migs (a good thing). Any chance on the MF doing an F-4B? -

UnknownPilot replied to KJakker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Right, but the end result is that, in essence, the flak is too deadly. There will always be limitations in simulations, but the idea is to recreate the overall experience, and work around those limitations, whether that is padlock views, or enemy icons (to deal with visibility and FoV limitations), or toning down AAA accuracy, volume, damage, or some combination of the above. -

Last night I looked at the 2 F-16 data ini files. The one that came with the MF F-16 download itself, and Kreelin's update. What I saw was that the 2 were almost the same. I didn't really dig through the aero sections as I don't really understand how this engine works, but looking at the basic numbers (stall speed, max speed, weight, etc), they were both about the same. The only differences I noted were that the update was a bit heavier, and the CoG was changed just slightly. The other thing I noticed was that the update was missing a section called AI Data. I copied that in, and I think it helped a bit, but I can't say conclusively. Will have to test more and do a bit more digging I guess. ....unless anyone has any info or suggestions on this matter. :) -

Interesting. A Phantom driver in the Air Combat forum in the Military and Aviation forum here said that the stock F-4B was woefully undermodeled in turn performance (but that all were too fast on the deck). Others have vouched for the MF flight models over stock as well (and generally they are more lively than stock, particularly the F-8). I never fly slow and level if I can help it, and I try hugging the deck and using terrain to hide behind, but even with that, just trying to survive Rolling Thunder has proven utterly impossible. I have lost something like 10 pilots (starting from the beginning again) and never made it more than I think 15 missions. On averate, it's about 8. Now, if reality was that you'd only survive 8 missions... then like I said, we wouldn't have any vets. ....at all. Ah. I remember hearing about a leak of the F4 code leading to an unofficial re-write/expansion, but not about a new official version. What planes are in the official version? Do you know much about the unofficial mods? Basically I'm looking for more than just F-16s, and then, more than just palette swaps like in LOMAC (where they give you a new 3-D model, but it's actually an F-15 or Su-27 or whatever they've swapped models with, it just looks like something else). -
lol Spiders are awesome. Absolutely amazing creatures with ingenious methods and techniques. From the bolo-spider that throws it's web like a bolo, to the net-casting spider that hangs above it's prey and throws a net on it like Spiderman, to the "jumping spider" class that hunts by keen eyesight. The Portia spider is exclusively cannibalistic, but it is probably the most amazing of all. It has color stereo-scopic vision, only, rather than moving the outside of it's eyes (like we do), it moves a cone inside, so it can be looking you up and down without moving it's eyes, sorta like built in shades. These little things can solve problems. When approaching prey, it will use problem solving to overcome obstacles in it's path, and to find the best way to strike, if it's initial plan isn't working or is less than ideal. It has been known to drum on prey webs like a mate, or like a caught bug, whichever will work best for it. Or it will use wind gusts to mask it's movement across the web. Or just drop down on a drag-line and attack from above (since web-dwellers can't see very well). I saw a video where a researcher had one sitting in front of a CRT with a CGI counterpart displayed on it, and when the CG Portia began waving it's arms around, the real one responded similarly. Like it was trying to communicate! Speaking of drag-lines, that's another amazing aspect. The silk is more effective than kevlar as bullet absorbing matieral. Would also make for great carrier trap cables too. And the way they can produce sticky or non-sticky, structural or trapping 'cables', or drag-line silk, all from the same organ.... it's incredible really. They've also managed to exist for millions upon millions of years, and are so numerous in numer of species, it's not even funny. lol

The only trouble with a free roving gecko is tha they have to crap. And they'll be like birds about (whenever, wherever). I had a Bearded Dragon as a pet and some of their dumps can be massive and wet and unpleasant and smell really bad. He was insectivourous too. Technically Beardies are supposed to eat plants as well, and for a while he did, but he developed a taste for crickets and just started refusing to eat salad, so I had to give him more crickets (which he knew would be coming if he held out). While all creatures, including spiders and mantises do this, the smaller the creature, the smaller and less noticable the output. lol Lots of irrational fear in this thread. From what I've seen, most people imagine themselves on the same scale as the "creepy crawlies", as if they were a threat (I'd say a good 90 - 95% of spiders are absolutely not a threat, ever). Yet people aren't creeped out by Preying Mantises. Here, picture yourself on his scale (or vice versa) -

Yeah, yeah, I know, you are correct on the technical side. I just meant that when you watch them, they seem to change very little. Perhaps that's an artifact of the filming, or perhaps they were dropping alt to begin with at a slight rate. However, one thing is certain, they aren't exactly dropping like the space shuttle in order to cause that massive flare to not shoot them up. ;) Kreelin's Flanker does this. Level, it'll go up, but only a bit. However, get it into a slight dive where it's basically level but losing alt, then it seems to stay where it was. That 'Cat looked like it was shooting way up. :) But anyway...... -

But aren't the stock planes just undermodeled? Seems to be the case with the Phantoms and Crusaders (though even the MF Crusaders still don't seem able to turn with the Frescoes and Farmers). The F-5 is in my install... is that part of the Expansion Pack 2.0? I don't really remember. It's a good little fighter too, but not spectacular either. Has there ever been any effort at making AI-only editions of the various planes, designed to get the most out of the AI? Granted, you can only go so far in that direction, and you'll be likely giving them more power, turning ability, etc, than they ought to have, but done within reason, I would think should wake them up a bit. (maybe.... ) Hmm... the AAA already seems WAY too deadly. It makes it impossible to survive a campiagn without pure luck on your side. And I mean to the point where virtually nobody flying up north would ever have returned home (unless they had their first flights at the end of the campaigns), were reality like this. At some point, I do plan on having a full merged install. But since they stack in release date, if I got say just SF2, and then added my :V on top of it, wouldn't that then re-neuter the AI? Missiles only in an F-4B is mostly frustrating because I end up with so many chances to gun them down and just can't do it. lol That's far more frustrating than missile troubles. I have Falcon 4, but never installed it. Lost my taste for the modern (US) stuff before I could (long story). How are the mods in that? Are they like LOMAC (mere palette swaps), or are they like in SF (complete new aircraft, done with TMF levels of accuacy and care)? -
Spiders provide a service to you. I can't stand bugs. I'm not afraid of them, I just dislike them with a passion, and hate them near my house. Bugs, btw, have SIX legs. The only exception to that being the Preying Mantis. (and the centipede, millipede and silverfish) Spiders, being arachnids, are NOT bugs. Rather, they EAT bugs. And that is reason enough to have them around. Of course, it doesn't hurt that they are just way cool too! Slarti, size matters not......, when it comes to spiders. The Brazillian Wanderer and Ozzy red-backed Funnel Web are not small, but are quite nasty. As is the Brown Recluse, about as dangerous as a Black Widow, but quite a bit larger. And then there are the tiny jumping spiders which are harmless. "Harmless" to us.. ALL spiders are venomous. Each and every one of them. But most just won't bother us, or can't inject enough to make a difference. Web-dwellers are essentially blind. They can't survive without their webs, and so they are among the safest (and best) to have around. Little jumping spiders are good too. Wolf spiders are on the fine line - they aren't particulaly deadly, nor ill tempered, however, they hunt via eye sight, running their prey down, which means they wander all overthe place. And THAT means you are likely to unintentionally pose a threat and cause them to freak and bite you. (given the choice, they will almost always run away - most snakes too) I love getting big Orb Weavers and St Andrews Cross spiders at my place (always outside). The webs are really pretty and the spiders themselves are big enough to really get a good look at. I once had an orb weaver right outside my back door (the one I always use), it's web was bigger than my head. It's placement was such that the door didn't interfere with it, and I never had a risk of walking through it. It was really like a house decoration. Sadly, he didn't hang out long. When I find particularly large spiders wandering around inside my house (and they are almost always Wolf spiders), I catch and release them outside. Just to prevent accidents. Though once I did see a Brown Recluse crawling over my mouse while I was typing a forum post.... that was interesting. lol Caught and released him too. Just a few days ago I saw this bad boy hanging out just outside my house - Hard to really get a feel for scale, but this image is only SLIGHTLY larger than full scale. It didn't even flinch when I got right up on it with my cell phone, nor when it made the fake camera click sound. lol

UnknownPilot replied to KJakker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Interesting... and good points. As for myself and the era... I'm all over the place. The post '84 stuff is all about my lust for the MiG-29 and only slightly lesser lust for the Su-27. As well as playing around with some interesting what-ifs (X/F-29, F/A-24 (ancient beta unforutnately), B-1R, A-12, etc), and the occasional bit of pure curiosity (MiG-31, JAS-39 Gripen, soon to add Mirage, etc). And that's also due in large part to the lack of ability to run a campaign anymore. I had been really sticking only to F-4Bs, F-100s, F-105s, F-104Cs, A-4s, and the like (if I had a better more fully functioning pit for the A-6 I'd be all over that!), etc. But one day I got curious and decided to try the F-14A (but ONLY the A lol), and after that blew my mind I needed a point of reference, so I got the F-15A. Eventually that led to me neededing the F-16A for the same reason. And after a bit of that, I had already blown the door off of what I considered to be 'modern' (even if the years technically fell in the 70s), so I went looking forthe Fulcrum, and the rest is history. lol I should add that I've had the same lack of threat from the AI when I've flown F9F Cougars, F-11F Tigers, F4D Skyrays, and even got easy kills in my A-4 campaign (check the DiD thread, it got to the point where I imagined I'd be getting chewed out for going after fighters so often lol ). Ditto in the Thud, just treat it like a 190D9 with a little extra weight and lot more power, and the Frescos weren't hard to beat. Heck, in basically all of my DiD campaign attempts, it was always AAA or SAMs that did me in. And after having done 1 F-4B campaign where I was scoring sick numbers by always taking a gun pod (and dealing with the encumberance penalty), I decided on my next one to forego it and go with just the Navy loadout, willingly handicapping myself in order to bring down the kill score to at least a more reasonable (if not outright reasonable), level. And I think that is partly why I've been in modern stuff so much lately too - as you said, with better missiles they become more potent. Ditto with better airframes. So when they are in a Flanker or Falcon they are actually interesting. Also had a wild fight in Foxhounds against Tomcats - I forgot to change the Air Force and went up as soviets ( :::: shudder :::: ) and the game put me up against USAF Tomcats (lol "USAF Tomcats"... that still makes me chuckel ), and they slaughtered us. But I think the poor missiles combined with the 31's poor agility pretty much made that inevitable. Would that be the same place to add air forces? I notice that currently, post iron curtain fall, while it includes all the former soviet states as their own entities, it does not include the Russian Air Force - only the soviet air force. I'd like to change that. Not that I mind Ukranian markings, but still, it would make more sense to see the list changed. -

I've since become a plane wh0re and will fly any plane from any nation in any time period, though I have my favorites and most of that is for evening up sides when necessary online. However, I still don't fly those damned evil red-stars. Yak3s and La7s in their grey cammo look awesome with late war white crosses on them. But if proper "side" markings are required, then ANY other allied markings would do in a pinch. lol Either way, yes, if Oleg made SF2, the MiGs would be made to their design specs, while all other aircraft would be made to beat down front line status with poor mechanics on the flight line. He deftly managed to keep it within a few percent all around, but the VVS are on the high side, while the LW and USAAF and USN are on the low side. The Hellcat is pulling a damned invisible drag chute. And don't even get me started on how that fanboi's wet dream, the ugly assed over-popular hose nosed ensign eliminator, is actually EASIER to see over the nose of and land on a carrier than the Hellcat. That's just infuriatingly insane. I always thought it was humorous though that the 2 (arguably) best props in the game are the F4U-1C and the Ki-84 1C. -

I always thought that the true definition of the maneuver was to put the nose past 90* then bring it back down again without changing altitude (or at least minimal change). That looked like a high alpha snap into zoom-climb. Cobra-like, but not cobra. Still awesome to see though. But Grummans always are. -

Which file is that? In fairness, it's always going to be a trade off. Another example is how the IL2 AI is made for angles fighters, not energy fighters. But I'd rather an aggressive AI that is a danger to me, over one that is just hard to shoot. I never go head on againt IL2 AI if I can help it. I either dive under them, or climb over them, ot beam them and get them to bleed their E trying to follow me so I can swing down on them. Going gunzo in a head on pass at jet speeds however, is not something I'd like to try either. The difference is, missiles here allow "head on merges" to take place as much as 5 miles apart. lol -

Lately, it's all Single Mission only for me, because my original system, which could only JUST handle the Expansion Pack 2.0 installed campaign missions, died and was replaced by a 200mhz slower counterpart. Now single missions are all it can handle. :( It would be cool if the AI would learn from the human pilots. Given what you said, and considering my observations, I'm wondering if being in MiGs cuts them back. Because like I said, putting them in US jets seems to cause them to be aggressive. And others have said the same when flying Red campaigns. But then again, the Su-27s aren't overly dangerous either (not like they *could* be), so..... For the most part, "aces" here just mean difficult targets. Like they are flying weaponless versions and it's just target practice for you, the higher their skill the better they are at evading, but not much else. They would only shoot you if you flew like a bomber... on a landing approach. Lately I've noticed this improve a lot and I don't know if it's because the something to do with the AI over time flown, or the patch, or the planes I'm putting them in, or what, but they are actually fighting back now. But they still have a long way to go. IL2 has dangerous AI. Even that is beatable because you can work around it's behaviors or limitations, but at least they are very aggressive and more interested in killing you, than in evading your fire. If you get behind them, they work like hell to not just loose you, but gain an advantage (though if they are in a fast plane that can be boring at times as they won't fight, just extend, climbing away until you either give up or they get far enough away, then they try to come in fast from above and stay above you - not quite flying against a person, but damn good for AI). -

I'm using SF2:V with the Feb 2010 patch applied. While I realize that certain FMs are older and don't take advantage of what they could (due to changes in the core after the fact), I'm just trying to get the "best", or most accurate version possible, however old it may be and whatever limitations or lack it may have (if it's the best, then it's the best; kind of thing). This is the Su-27 thread I referenced - http://forum.combatace.com/topic/46465-how-to-replace-marcfighters-su-27-flight-model-with-tmf-mig-29/page__p__334157__hl__cobra%20maneuver__fromsearch__1&?do=findComment&comment=334157 In it, Silverbolt posted a URL to Kreelin's site - http://kreelin.free.fr . The first link at the top of that page is the Flanker update. It's from May 2008, and apparently just for Gen1 TW sims. However, it works in my install and is downright amazing. As I said, it's a bit tricky to use (lest you exceed AoA and "cobra" when you don't want to, killing your speed. You need to be very mindful of the tone and develop a mental sense for speed bleed in a hard turn at the edge when you can't look at your alpha gauge. The MiG-29A that I'm using I posted the link above, that's from March 2009, and again, apparently for Gen1, but it's all that I can find so far, which is why I wanted to ask here, incase there's a hidden gem somewhere on the net that I don't know about, or maybe to spark some interest among the FM gurus. The F-16A that I'm using is here - http://www.column5.us/aircraft2.shtml ; second from bottom. It's from 2006 and I had to edit one of the files to get the canopy to show up in externals (but still don't have it working inside), and the way point indication dial is a little messed up, but otherwise it works like a charm and fully lived up to all expectations as a deadly in-close knife fighter. The update from Kreelin's site is dated September 2008. So I would think, if anything, it would take advantage of more features and be more modern. It just seems odd that it seems to be reduced in capability to less than what I would expect and that the AI seems flat footed in it. That doesn't mean it's wrong, but just makes me curious, which is why I'm asking. Regarding the Cobra, in another thread I was reading, someone, I think it was FC? Not entirely sure so apologies. Said that any plane with a LERX could do it under the right envelope conditions, if the controls allowed for it. That theoretically the F-14 could, and the F-16, but the FBW would pretty much prevent it. I don't know which F-14 was being referred to, but the MF F-14A (with SF2 update patch applied) certainly can not. It doesn't really need to though, it's lack of cobra-ability just lets you abuse the heck out of it and it handles awesomely. But anyway, I'm sure I remember reading or hearing about the Fulcrum being able to do the move, although it was first attempted and demonstrated in the Flanker. -
