I've reinstalled OFF three times now. Twice all the way through, this time I've stopped before installing HitR. Here's what I've done so far: 1) I've done a full, custom install of CFS3 to my D drive and patched it to 3.1 (not 3.1a, though i tried that before and still had this problem) 2) Installed OFF 3) Superpatched and minipatched Testing it now and every time I go to fly I get this error http://img818.images...f/92847148.jpg/ I've tried it with BOTH CFS3 discs and the OFF disc proper. And this also happened on my previous reinstalls with HitR. Right now I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything again, and currently have OFF on vanilla (without any patches), but -still- get a "No CD" error when using CFS3 Disc 2. And Disc 1. And the OFF disc itself just for kicks. I can't for the life of me fathom what's wrong with this thing, been at it all day. Also, the CDs -are- registering, I can see them plain as day on my drive C and CFS3 itself runs fine.

Mission doesn't end properly?
Javito1986 replied to Javito1986's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Ok heh, yea basically. No need for me to record it then, you know exactly what's up. I just find it odd that I can recreate it at will now, there's a specific set of a circumstances that cause it to happen. I'll run some more tests when I get home in a few hours, I want to get to the bottom of this one. -
I'm surprised nobody ever answered you. OFF simulates the WW1 air war as it was. It's certainly possible, even likely, you can fly around without making contact with enemy planes since they're often hard to see if you're not using TAC radar to make them easier -- if you do use that radar then you can find enemy planes any time you go up. It is dynamic so all the squadrons in your area, friendly and enemy, are out performing their own missions and patrols from their actual historical aerodromes. If you're flying Royal Flying Corps and you want to see Germans the place to go is the frontline. Always Jastas there, especially if you go to their side of the Line where you're likely to be bounced. Also if you fly campaign and set regional air activity to 'heavy' you will see a lot of enemy planes and probably 20 - 30 plane dogfights. There is time compression to speed along the journey, use the x key to warp when there are no enemies nearby. The campaign isn't meant to be instant action, it's meant to be the most exact simulation of the WW1 air war today, and it succeeds. That said, OFF has plenty of quick scenarios and quick combats if you want to just jump in and shoot stuff.

Mission doesn't end properly?
Javito1986 replied to Javito1986's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Tallyho, the thing is it's consistent. Yes I use warp, but I always have and this only recently began plaguing me. I ran tests with HitR 1.47 vanilla, and was crash-free until I started modding it, at which point it started right up again like before. I can replicate it exactly 100% of the time, it never doesn't happen when I end a mission early following an engagement. It's not even a "crash" really. I'll see if I can get some video of what it is that happens and throw it up on youtube tomorrow -
Mission doesn't end properly?
Javito1986 replied to Javito1986's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Made progress. Since my last post I've reintroduced the following components: Realistic Tracers and Effects Sound Tweak II New OFF Medals And Olham's ViewUI file I think something here for some reason is causing this. I updated to 1.47 earlier and reintroduced my pilot campaign, went out and tested it and it did fine, data recorded whether I completed the mission objectives or not. Now I've lost data again and the only things I've changed are these four things! I'll see about narrowing it down some more. Toodles. P.S. someone kindly get back to me about my mission count problem I mentioned in the previous post when you've got a moment. -
Mission doesn't end properly?
Javito1986 replied to Javito1986's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
So far so good but I've run into a little snag with, I'm sure, a very quick fix if someone can help me out. Since I've reinstalled OFF and reintroduced the backups of my pilots, the mission # gets reset. My main has 80 missions, which shows up fine in the OFF Manager's dossier until I fly a mission, after which it resets to 1, and I have to manually edit my dossier file so it shows 81 instead of 1. How can I get it to keep the count accurately on its own? -
This is great news, hear hear. I'm looking forward to trying out your alterations sir

He's such a gentleman too, and wise like you wouldn't believe. Been talking to him over on the Aerodrome. Buy his book. BUY IT!

Military Cross W/ Bar. I gave myself the first Military Cross in-sim months ago when I first cracked the 10 kill mark. -

Gotcha. In that case I just gave myself a medal just for surviving my 80th mission, even though I don't have the requisite 30 kills for it. Only have 14 in fact ;-) -
Mission doesn't end properly?
Javito1986 replied to Javito1986's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Grrrrrrr! Still haven't shaken this, just lost an hour's worth of flying and 2 kills! Always if I end the mission after a random amount of time (usually after I get damaged in a dogfight) but before I get a "goals completed" message. So if I go out on patrol, engage Germans and get hit and go home early I will lose all mission data 100% of the time. Made back ups of my pilots, and running an uninstall of OFF, then will reinstall and patch it up to HitR 1.47. I'll test, make sure missions end correctly, then I'll go through mod by mod and change by change to see what's causing this. -
Award Guidelines For The New OFF P3 Medal Set
Javito1986 replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I'm trying to follow this chart accurately and have some questions! :) Is it all based on kill counts? It strikes me for example that if it was then no U.S. fliers would have gotten the CMH since nobody ever got more than Rickenbacker's 26? So for example in order for a US pilot to qualify for the big one under RSS he needs 55 - 65 confirmed and 5 shot down in a single day? How would you go about defining a "notable single day's performance" worthy of an early medal? -
That "oo-er missus.." moment
Javito1986 replied to themightysrc's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Welcome back SRC! Lou, I usually fly with TAC off but just now I had it on during a dogfight and found it very helpful. I know, obviously, but hear me out. It was set to 1NM, so I wasn't seeing a whole lot. But it helped 'enhance' the experience. We were embroiled with Jasta 36's bunch and suddenly on the TAC a big blot of 'blue' showed up and I knew it was our A Flight swooping in to the assist. And sure enough within seconds there was Richard Mayberry swatting an Albatros off my tail. Bless his heart. The arrival of A Flight is something I'm sure I would notice as B Flight Leader if I was actually "there", but staring through the monitor as I do I would've completely missed it until Mayberry actually started shooting. So maybe I'll leave it on from now on during a dogfight and leave labels off. Onto the question... I had my own "OH DEAR GOD" moment yesterday during a balloon bust. Had the TAC on but it was set to vehicles so I could see waypoints, had just maneuvered to start an attack run at the balloon, checked my tail, all clear, wait a minute, checked my tail again, OH DEAR GOD NOT CLEAR THAT'S AN ALBATROS SQUADRON ABOUT TO KILL ME. The closest one was at about distance 400, he was right on us, and more of his friends behind him. Honestly I didn't feel any physical sensation. I didn't feel much of anything, since I completely do not remember the rest of the mission up to the point when we landed at my aerodrome. Thinking back on it now it's all one big blur of black crosses, clouds, and shooting things until my drum was empty. I was mildly amused to return completely ammunition free only to see after the mission I had exactly a 0% accuracy. Maybe I just panicked and started shooting air? -
That reminds me of the Alb DIII flying with three wings that I saw yesterday. That was after he'd also been set on fire and managed to put it out. I was so impressed I called off my SE5s and let him be!

P4 AI suggestion / request
Javito1986 replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Another idea: Sometimes when one of my wingmen don't come home I'm curious to know what happened to them. Would it be possible to include a filter on the 'Review Missions' so that it reviews only events related to your squadron? And perhaps listing the pilots in your squadron by name so you know who exactly they are? -
Only just noticed this Olham, sorry for the late reply. I added OFF to my 'trusted applications' in Kas2011. Settings>Advanced Settings (upper tab)>Threats & Exclusions>Exclusions Settings>Trusted Applications tab. Buried pretty deep in there I know, but it's not as complicated as it sounds.

I wanna have a face off with MvR
Javito1986 replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I've been flying 56 in 1917 for a while now and I've only seen Jasta 11 once. Freakily it happened on May 7th, the same day 56 met Jasta 11 in real life and Albert Ball died. The squadrons I tend to run into most are Jasta 3, 6, 12, 29, and MFJ I. Not sure where 11 is at, but frankly I'm not too eager to find out y'know? -
I don't think it would be that hard to program that manner of fighter-specific AI, speaking from my (moderately limited) programming background. Working it out in the CFS3 engine is another thing altogether. But they've done wonders with the AI already and we know the devs have stated (or strongly implied) they're working on AI improvements for P4. So we'll just have to wait and see chaps

I've been reading Laurence Dri- Eddie Rickenbacker's book "Fighting the Flying Circus" on my Kindle. Bought it off Amazon for $1. It's fantastic, such an amazing account of the aviator's WW1 career. I also purchased Peter Kilduff's latest Red Baron: Life and Death of an Ace, Der Rote Kampflieger by you know who, and McCudden's Flying Fury. What else is out there, available digitally? Believe me I much prefer having a physical hardcover text, but the kindle is comfortable to read on and great for traveling, and it's a nice way to pass the time at school or just in general while I'm awaiting The Stand and High in the Empty Blue.

OT: WW1 Aviation E-books
Javito1986 replied to Javito1986's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
The best thing about reading so many WW1-era texts is that it reminds you of just how accurate OFF is. When I read Fighting the Flying Circus I can clearly visualize everything in my head and anticipate what's about to happen. For example, when Rick first gets in the game and he's eager for a kill and dives down on some Albatros in a Nieup 28 I said "Fool, you're going to rip your wings off!" Sure enough that's what happened! Makes me feel like such a wisened old vet -
I don't remember if I got an e-receipt after buying OFF. I ran a search of my e-mail accounts just now and couldn't find anything. You definitely should though, either way. I'd say you should just send a notice to OBD and ask about it. The Devs here are a straight up bunch, nobody'll scam you out of your receipt. I'm sure if we wait long enough Polovski will show up here and notice, but he's probably asleep. I believe the e-mail address you want is support@avangate.com, says so here at least http://www.overflandersfields.com/FAQAvangate.htm. Throw them an e-mail, ask 'em where the blooming 'ell your receipt is ;-). You can also use that e-mail to ask for a tracking number.
