opening canopies
hawkeye52 replied to landrover's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Screw the controls screen :) It's much more fun to go down the rows of your keyboard to hit a command and see the result. Rather shocking to see a missile fly off the rail and be like "oh...that's the key for that" as well as finding the key combo for Eject. Next sim you get, you should try that way. You'll have a ton of fun on your first go around. -

I've noticed that typically SHIFT-1 all the way to SHIFT-9 is what will do it for ya... (if the a/c has it) On a related note, I recently found out yesterday that Ctrl-O open bomb bay doors...couldn't figure out why my S-3 wouldn't drop it's bombs for a while there :) -
Mirage Factory A-7 Super Pack

Excellent pack, however I am getting graphical glitches when inside the cockpit with this aircraft. Anyone else getting the same thing? Mostly out the HUD and when looking at airfields. -

Hi everyone, I was trying the search but it didn't work very well. I was wondering if there was a key-command to get rid of the text that is on the bottom left and the bottom right that display aircraft/target information so that full size screenshots can be taken without having all that clutter? Thanks so much! -
MGunny's Ordnance Shop II for SF2
hawkeye52 replied to 331Killerbee's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
I wish I had kept a listing of all the ones I had been messing with, Problem is, I have a mix of other addons/weapons so I'm not sure which ones were part of this package. I mean the hard work is done by throwing all these 1000 or so weapons together, it just takes a minute to realize a weapon is missing or not behaving properly and making the appropriate fix. I'll keep an eye for more problems and be more specific on the fix necessary (a copy/paste of the .ini and it's location in the SF2 mod folder structure). BTW, does anyone know at all what the skyspot bomb is all about, it is a weapon with no LOD or texture and can't find any information on the interwebs. -

FYI... Skyspot bomb doesn't have an LOD...what is this weapon? I googled it and coudln't find anything. GBU 12B/B II Navy has incorrect LOD naming in INI just like maverick -

Who ever said high resolution (read again)? I think I phrased it as best I could without writing a book... -

MGunny's Ordnance Shop II for SF2
hawkeye52 replied to 331Killerbee's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Just need to change the angle in the *data.ini file in the Objects/Weapons/Brimstone 3-Pack/ folder for all the rails to 0.000 deg. where it is -167 deg. quick fix, Another question about the brimstone, I read it was INS augmented by laser homing. Is there a way to mimic that for this weapon? The brimstone just can't nail a moving target with only GPS guidance. FYI: The LAU-61 APKWS needs a simple ini fix for the LOD as well. -

Yeah exactly...it's really no biggie. It was just an FYI for everyone. The hard work is all done, I have no problem editing an ini here and there for a small things like that. This pack is amazing -

Just FYI, A couple of the mavericks..I know for sure the AGM-65K needed a small edit to point to the correct LOD file Thanks for this collection! -
SF2 grapics problems with coastlines & rivers
hawkeye52 replied to allenjb42's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I'm willing to bet it is your intel integrated graphics card...which is pretty weak. I've never seen that happen on any machine that I've tried it on Windows XP/Vista/7 on 32bit and 64bit Some ATI and some Nvidia cards. My first bet is your graphics chip, which sounds like is on a laptop. You might be SOL in that case when it comes to SF2 -
Drop tank procedure
hawkeye52 replied to MaverickMike's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
That sounds like one idiotic policy...you have the option of A) Losing a few tanks but adding maneuverability to add the chance of saving a pilot and a plane B) Nah....lets make sure to save every drop tank. We're all or nothing, we'd rather you not drop tanks and lose the whole plane instead! All or nothing If there were already a few losses due to this and I was a Su-7 pilot, I'd screw that and drop my tanks if it would help regardless of policy. If I got let go, that's fine. Some other schmo to get shot down with his tanks on! Or they could have simply removed the drop tanks all together but have reduced endurance. Not sure about the logistics or specifics of the missions though. Just sounds idiotic to drop the tanks to save the tanks when the plane gets blown up thus losing the tanks, pilot, and plane together. -

Thanks :) ..I had no clue that the real thing won't let you load up the middle one. I just do what the sim lets me do -

I'm a total newbie to the Thirdwire Strike Fighters series (never played the original strike fighters) but I've been playing sims since Falcon 3.0 and US Navy Fighters 94...I can't believe that I haven't seen this game before. This flight sim is purely a gem. I instantly bought the entire series and got a subscription here to take full advantage of all the wonderful addons everyone has made. This game brings back all the wonder and fun of fast paced air combat that I haven't seen since the Jane's Combat series. Sure Falcon4/DCS are fun for study sims but this game is just great for trying out just about any aircraft you wish. Most user made models have at a minimum decent flight dynamics, and ThirdWire's are even better. The graphics are amazing and just playing a midnight SEAD mission in heavy anti-air was incredibly immersive. The only game that I can fly an A-1 on a low-speed attack on NVA troops over vietnam, then the next minute fly a supersonic intercept with a F-22 over israel. This game will keep me VERY busy. (Did I sound like enough of a fanboy?) I wish I knew about this game sooner. Thanks Thirdwire for this great game and thanks to everyone at CombatAce who makes all these wonderful addons that I coudln't live without (F-14, Vietnam Campaign Pack are just a couple of the great ones). If I get enough free time, I look forward to contributing addons in some way. Just like any typical flight simmer, I always want more :) I just wish the game had a more complex quick mission builder and multiplayer ---Does anyone know if there are any helicopters for this game to download...or does that go beyond the limitation of the flight models? Thanks all! -

First set of images...random shots of quick missions. This game is just immense! If only there was multiplayer and a built-in mission builder. F-14D outta missiles, heading home...took out close to 15 targets combined. Hands down the best fighter I have in my library right now First flight with eastern aircraft. Locked onto a M2000D but out of missiles, chose to give the bird and watch him leave the airspace Can't remember the name of this intermediary plane before the F-8 was put in service, intercepting TU-16's I think. Learned that early service AIM-9s and AIM-7s are very touchy In a MIG danger close to the escorted M2000D AV-8B on CAS mission -

Thanks for all the help! I think with the stock aircraft and the ones I've already downloaded...I'll be busy for quite some time. -

hawkeye52 replied to hawkeye52's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Thanks, I'll try that one. Is there demand out there for converting the SF1 aircraft into SF2 compatible plug and play downloads? I'd be happy to do some converting to put the SF1 aircraft into a more standard format that I've seen the SF2 aircraft in. -

hawkeye52 replied to hawkeye52's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Thanks :) where do I get Razbam's stuff? Are Strike Fighters 1 aircraft compatible with SF2? or is there a special process to get them working. I just tried converting the F-15 ACTIVE from SF1 to SF2 and some textures were off and there was no cockpit. Thanks in advance.
