Sorry, it isn't Hinchinbrooke's zeppelin. It is a model the L-30. The primary author is P10ppy, who unfortunately has not been on line for a while now. I have it on loan for development of the First battle of Britain. At this point I do not have authority to release the L-30. Beyond that, additional work is needed for both the cockpit and the FM. Perhaps, as there appears to be some interest, all of the above can change, but much is beyond my humble power.

Can you please post a link to the Strutter skins? I cannot find them at TeamSpeak.

Thanks Bucky. DL now. I'll load and fly tomorrow.

Hi Bucky- The Staakens are nearly ready- I got sidetracked with the Strutters- about seven months ago. They will need to post at the SkunkWorks. I have done an extensive revision of the airfields in the BOB terrain -(with the consent of the primary author), so that part is manageable. If there is really interest in the First Battle of Britain, I'll have another go, but the French Strutters are my first date these days. As for the searchlights, yes the on/off feature is a bit of a bother, but the Jones Soft Genric modder turns them off and on before missions almost as nicely as one could in a panel within the game. What can you tell us about the missions? It seems there may have been a sleeping giant lurking for FE. Cheers!

This would be an excellent idea! High altitude zeppelin and Gotha intercepts, aircraft ferry missions over the channel to Candas gone awry, etc... I think I remember someone saying FE does not support ships, is this so? Like this?
-
Correct. Aircraft development, (and programming) if done properly, takes time. Stay tuned.

Two-Seaters- why won't my gunners open fire?
sinbad replied to Spad13's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I'm glad to see you like the Strutter. The gunners are set at a default firing range of 500 meters. If you want your gunner to open up at a longer range edit the data.ini file to 600 or 750 and see if that does the trick. Look for this: [Gunner] SystemType=GUNNER_STATION SeatID=2 GunnerID=1 PilotModelName= GunnerBodyNodeName=gunner SetCockpitPosition=FALSE Position=-0.00,-1.34,0.22 MinExtentPosition=-0.184,-1.633,-0.919 MaxExtentPosition=0.335,-1.03,0.347 PitchModelNodeName=scarff_arm YawModelNodeName=scarff_ring GunRange=500 -----------------------------------------------------Edit this number. PitchAngleRate=38 MaxPitch=27 MinPitch=-7 DefaultPitchAngle=20 YawLimited=TRUE YawAngleRate=60 MaxYaw=270 MinYaw=90 DefaultYawAngle=180 Then please post your impression of the results. -

Thanks for the kind words. Remember the Strutter is a team effort. Sorry for the delay. We are testing. The AI bombing needs to be tweaked a bit. Meanwhile - sinbad

The bomb craters are LOD objects painted with BMPs. There may be other craters available that could be worked into the game, but these cannot be resized without the original 3dMax files. Try asking at the Third Wire forum. It doesn't seem that modeling a crater would be very difficult. Painting it certainly wouldn't be. Perhaps someone has the time for that. Right now I'm working hard to equip the Strutters to make the $%^&*() craters. sinbad

The Strutter team has been toiling night and day. The Ball will resume this weekend. Thanks to Panama Red we have a much better FM, and external stores. I went to hardware store and dredged up a set of bomb racks for the 9400 / 1A2 versions. The armed recon crews will now be able make Hunland a bit warmer. We also hitched up our little bomb carts while cruising the TK armory. There will be a wide range of authentic loadouts to make breaking things on the ground easier. If anyone can find the 65 lb bomb used by the RNAS, please send me photos, files, drawings . . . Meanwhle we'll use the Royal Labs 50's and the 90mm Michelins. Given feedback so far, there appears to be no need for 512 x 512 skins, so I'll release the 1A2 and the remaining 9400 series in 2048. These can be resized down if need be. Some of these toys are not quite ready to upload yet, HE must be handled with care . . . sinbad

These may help. Not photos but all are from the superb work of Mark Miller. IMHO, you can rely on them for accuracy. Keep up the good work.! sinbad -

It's nice to see such close attention. All this is correct. The 9400 really should not be assigned bombing missions. Recon, Armed Recon, Transport, CAS are AOK. The Strutter was in some ways a for runner of the Brisfit. Recall that Hornblower-Cock got 13 kills flying only Strutters. Performance may be weaker than the 1918 aircraft, but when introduced it was a serious threat to hostile AC. Some were field modified a la the 1B2 but I can find no good data accurately describing that. I have seen at least one photo of the Belgians doing a mod. The B2 had both the internal bomb bay and the gunner. They will be released next. I need more help to get the 1B1/9700 series, with max bomb load and no gunner out the door. The 9700 / B2 versions have the internal bomb bay modeled, and bomb fuse access panels. Alas no operating bomb doors, at least not yet! They were opened by weight of the bombs and closed with shock cord. Simple but it worked. I considered removing the bomb mission categories for the 9400, and actually made the change in one draft, but not in the final version. I'll revise the file. Meanwhile I am posting the 512 standard res skins.

Thanks. The project has been in the works for a while. Yes, both silver dope and five color French skins are in the mix (also CDL for the non-believers and those who bought the first Windsock edition). First priority is the standard res 512 skins. The project used 2048 as a starting point to max the quality, but that causes problems when converting down to standard res. stay tuned.
