  1. DH-4 Liberty 50th Aero

Well it's about time you got these guns delivered! Getting this airplane ready for combat will take at lot more effort than I've seen so far! The United States declared war in April 1917. At this rate it will be over a year before the Liberty planes see real action! The Marlin is an excellent weapon. It fires faster with much less mechanical trouble than anything at the front, but it usn't at the front yet! If it wasn't for Stephen1918 this plane would never be ready at all!
  2. We've waited for these for a long time. It's good to see that so much careful work was not buried. Excellent ! Many thanks Jan !!!
  3. It will take a while because I'm about to leave on vacation, but I am working on a few things, including skins for the 50th Aero Sq "Medal of Honor" flight. These are the guys who located the "Lost Battalion" by flying low and determining where the heavy ground fire was not coming from. I've been waiting for a suitable model, and Stephen1918 came through again. There is still a lot to do, but tune in again in about six weeks after I get back from Italy. Ciao!
  4. WIP DH-4 USAS

Very nice Captain, but were are the guns?!! We're working on it General.
  5. WIP DH-4 USAS

Well, the perfect is still the enemy of the not good enough. I'm waiting on some help from Stephen1918. I'm trying to model twin Marlin Guns to replace the Vickers and a few other little bits. Meanwhile I'm tinkering . . . I hesitate to release it while there are still things to do, and it will take while to get the Marlin guns delivered and installed. Actually it's all quite realistic. The first DH-4 Liberty planes in France didn't have any guns either. Pershing was very unhappy.
  6. Nieuport 16 shadow fix

You probably know that the N16 LODs were originally renamed N11.LODs. All of my Nieuport11.LODs are dated 2/21/2007. The Nieuport16.LODs I have are dated 10/15/2007. I believe MonteCZ posted this N16LOD with an added headrest on that date. Nieuport16 Oct 15 2007.rar DK if it will cure your shadow problem, but it is the only variation on the LOD I have. BTW- what sort of shadow bug are you seeing?
  7. File Name: Flyable Spad 7 IRAS Skin Set File Submitter: sinbad File Submitted: 13 August 2012 File Category: Spad Skins Flyable Spad 7 for Eastern Front Campaign & FE2 This is a skin set and data/ini file mod to permit the stock Fe2 Spad 7 to be a flyable plane, using the TW quality LOD's and bump maps of the FE2 Spad 7. The only Spad 13 piece is the stock Spad 13 cockpit with minor adjustments. There are several skin sets for various IRAS units, including two of the leading aces, Kazakov and Smirnoff. The skins are a joint effort with Stephen1918. I could not do the Beta testing without doing skins! The FM is entirely my fault, a revised Peter01 FM, with adjustments for Russian service, but it could also be used for other nations. The Leprieur rockets are not part of the loadout packages, as I saw no reports of the Russians using them on the Spad 7. Only the 150 HP FM is included because that is the version used by the Russians (there were very few of the others, even in France). The original files are included in case you want to revert to them without expanding the entire Fe2 fileset. I have not tested this mod in any version other than Fe2, but I see no reason why the skins and cockpit mod should not work in the various forms of FE1, provided you tinker a bit. You may or may not have to delete the bump maps. IMHO the Jones Soft Mode enabler is the way to get this and other mods in and out of the game, but you can certainly do it all manually if you prefer. There are also hangar and loading screens (apologies to Frank Luke) to help with immersion in Stephen1918s excellent Eastern Front Campaign. Enjoy. Click here to download this file
  8. File Name: IRAS Morane N Skin Set File Submitter: sinbad File Submitted: 14 August 2012 File Category: Other Entente Aircraft Skins Morane Saulner N This is a skin set for use with the excellent Eastern Front Campaign recently released by Stephen1918. The Morane N, one of my favorite 3rd party models, was originally released by P1oppy over 5 years ago, and rivals the best Third Wire planes for detail. It is a special ride, with a special gun, 8mm Hotchkiss and a propellor with deflector blades. The Imperial Russian Air Service bought about two dozen Morane Ns from France and most went to aristocrats, such Smirnoff. In addition to Smirnoff's plane there are three others, Nikolai Kokorin, who flew with the 4th KAO, and two generics, a CDL and one from the “Air Ships Squadron” whose primary duties were to escort Russian airships and the giant Ilya Murometz bombers. I include the most recent FM by Peter01, as well as the original FM, and the original installation instructions. There are no decals, but there are special sounds for the Hoptchkiss, and some special FX, such as the ribbon streamers that load as “Weapons.” I confess I don't use those, but they are there and you can select them from the loadout screen as “FLT LDR.” When I reinstalled the plane for the Eastern Front Campaign Beta test, I had problems getting the Hotchkiss sound to run. I thought putting the wav file in the sounds folder would do it but it didn't. I needed to install the SOUNDLIST.ini in the Flight folder. The Peter01 FM calls for the Rotary Engine sound while the original FM calls up the lerhone, both are in the sounds folder and you can choose the one you want. The file structure in this release is set up for FE2, but if you follow the original instructions, you can install in FE1 or the other variants of the game. Eastern Front Morane N Hangar and Loading screens are included to help with immersion. This skins set brings together the work of some of the best modders to work on First Eagles, Stephen1918, P10ppy and Peter01. They all deserve our thanks. Enjoy. Click here to download this file

  11. File Name: Sopwith 1A2 Strutters - Imperial Russian Air Service File Submitter: sinbad File Submitted: 13 August 2012 File Category: Sopwith Skins This skin set is intended for use with the excellent Eastern Front Campaign set recently released by Stephen1918. The Imperial Russian Air Service obtained Sopwith 1 ½ Strutters primarily from both England and France. Others were Russian license built French Strutters. Enclosed you will find cockpits for both the English and French versions, install one or the other as you wish (but the honor of France requires that the French aluminum and camo versions really should have the French cockpit). There are also new Russian hangar and loading screens. If you want to use them, you will need to save the originals and rename these "Hangar" and "Loading" This is only a skin set, so (if you have not already done so) you'll need to download and install the previously released Sopwith 1A2. Sometime in the future, on a date known to no one, there will be another Strutter release with a revised aircraft as wellas new skins, (probably a 1A1) but this will do very nicely for now. Enjoy sinbad Click here to download this file
  12. This is a real gem. I had a running start testing this, and I have to tell you it is worth the effort to install. If you have any problems, I probably had them already, and I'll try to help. I continue to recommend the Jones Soft Mod Enabler. The full package of AC campaign and terrains is 2.11 GB on my rig.
  13. Fe2b mod posted

Hi White Knight- Thanks for the revisions. I attempted to DL at the Skunk Works but got the original package instead. Now I'm stuck in thre 1 DL per day corner. Capun said in 3rd party mods but the link was back to WWI a/c. Where is it?

  15. On the off chance that it might be possible, I just tried to load a FE-2 N-28 into SF2NA. It worked - albeit with a contemporary pilot and markings. It appears it may be possible to have WWI naval action, as well as use of SF2NA (and other SF terrains) for WW I missions and campaigns. I think I remember that Italy was fighting in WWI terrain that looks a bit like Iceland . . . If the game can be modded for Japanese ships and WWII, why not WWI? The TW Mission and Campaign customizers are both available. Now I need to find a doppelganger and a parallel dimension with enough time to model the Cuxhaven Raid, HMS Furious, U-Boots and floatplanes. [attachment=84997:img00001.JPG
  16. Hi Stary- Yes, and a few years older as well. [jet planes and terrains also work in FE2 BTW] There is no purpose to putting modern planes in FE or FE2 - tho I did use a Spitfire to check terrain in my First Battle of Britain project for FE. It's my experience getting mired down there that dissuades me from attempting any serious WWI mod for SF2NA. If I ever get the energy to finish that, I'll look further, but not likely. It's too much like work and too little like fun. Besides TK can make money doing it, and should. See the reply to Wrench, above.
  17. Hi Wrench Right. I didn't say easy - I said possible. The most interesting and credible path is a revision by TK and Third Wire to offer a WWI package based on the SF2NA engine. A WWI DLP. A post by TK on the TW forum displayed little interest, but maybe that will change. The ship combat and water FX in SF2NA are very attractive, and the competition isn't going there. This sort of thing is just too massive for solo (or even small team) modding. There is a market waiting . . .
  18. SPAD A.2

Another excellent model, and FE is indeed the only sim with the Spad A2, and the most diverse inventory of aircraft. My only problem is I cannot possible skin these birds as fast as Stephen builds them! Salute!
  19. Aviatik-Berg D.I 185hp

A very important contribution. Thanks again.
  20. @ Sinbad

Actually no - the gauges are all new in order to accurately model USAS equipment There is a lot more to do. The pit is really important for immersion. I'll post screenies in a few. This is becoming a much busier place . . .
  21. Aviatik-Berg D.I 185hp

Fantastic work - and potentially useful for other models as well! Thanks very much for the effort, and thanks again for getting it done right.
  22. @ Sinbad

Thanks Wrench and Stephen1918. It's always the little things that trip over that word! The revised DH-4 cockpit project is now back on track!
  23. CA is back and I have no PC!

Hi quack74- We have all been bitten by the bitegods at one time or another. Do you have a PayPal account? Some of may be able to help.
  24. It's good to be back!

A Happy Day! Back Up has many meanings today.
  25. Today is my First Anniversary!

You made at least three years worth of fine models. Thanks for the many hours of careful work!!
