  1. The link to this patch at the Third Wire site is closed at least July 3 - 4. Some problems have been reported (including my problem with XP Pro SP3) with this version. It maybe that TW is doing a revision. Regardless, it seems like a very good idea to set a restore point before installing this patch.
  2. Are these problems and changes applied to the recent Tuma terrains or the older Flanders terrains? BTW-- The link to the June patch is no longer operating at the TW site. It may be in process for revision. I can run FE2 fine with the May patch; the June version appears buggy, at least for my XP ProSP3 install..
  3. SE A Alsiss sight ini. file question

Hi Ace of Spades Do you know the exact name of the file(s) you need? I must have them but DK what to send. I attach the TGA but do not think that is it.
  4. Hi ezlead Thanks for looking in. FE2 really ran just fine before all this, and for several months. You are right. Restore didn't do it. I removed all mods as the first attempted remedy. AOK now - I still don't know what happened but full scrub of the GFX drivers and reinstall of FE2 did the trick. Now all I need to do is install the patches and mods. Eventually I migrate to W7, but not today.
  5. Suddenly FE2 no longer runs on XP Pro SP3. All was fine until recent upgrades. Now CTD at game launch. I have tried rolling back both GFX drivers and FE2 patches - no joy. Any clues?
  6. New patch is out

Here's the link- http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads.htm From the README This update contains all the fixes from previous updates, and it can be applied to any version of the game. Earlier updates do not need to be applied. If you have installed any mods to the game, please check the ChangeList.txt for a list of updated files. If any data files you've extracted have been changed, you must manually delete and/or updated these files, or the patched game may not run correctly. Previous campaign saved data may not load after an upgrade. List of changes in this Update include: Jun 2010 -------- * Mission timing after Alt-N has been further tweaked. * The game always over-writing the aircraft .INI files is fixed.
  7. Hi bhaskar2789 The Aviatik is a model by capun and any changes to the gunner would have to come from him, or there would need to be another model. The original model was developed for Wings of War and although the 3dMax files for that plane are available, a significant amount of work would need to be done to resolve the issue you describe. Since we already have this plane, that is possible but not likely. Capun has corrected this problem with other models and he may be willing to rework the Aviatik. I suggest you post a request at his forum. sinbad
  8. Free LOD viewer

Hi Quack74- I put all rendering files for the Gotha in a test folder along with a shortcut to the LOD app. (The shortcut probably not nec but makes it easier.) Then load UMC2v1.3. Then go to the load menu. Load a model file will popup. Select 3rd Wire files.lod from the drop down list and the file you want to open. The file should then load. You can then select different forms of rendering; facing, wire, points and animate. Remember - I just stumbled across this program. I did not create it and I am not an expert user. There is more help at the forum managed by the author - http://www.gkab.net/index.php?sid=ca3c64c5c92ea0d4a0fa220e42f0a162 I still have not yet done anything useful with it. Fast Cargo has more experience with it and he now reports he is disenchanted. It seems, the search for the grail will continue. Meanwhile this is a learning expereince and a look inside the lods. Hope this helps. sinbad
  9. WWI Ships

Hi bhaskar2789 Yes these are impressive models. They are not in a form that can be imported directly into FE; they would have to be converted into 3dMax and then exported into FE. Unfortunately, the real killer is that they are very high poly models. SMS Emden for example, takes 20 minutes to load with the original software with nothing else to display. FE or even FE2 it would choke on them, even in the correct format. There are 3dMax models that might be adapted, but not this series, at least not without heavy revision. There are similar models available in for FE, and some folks (e.g. Hinchinrooke) are doing impressive ships for Third Wire games. Even given the ship models, there are programming issues that need to be worked through for FE (i.e. torpedoes - aerial and otherwise, ship movement and damage, etc). You are right, all that would be very nice to have, but even with TK helping, it will take a while. Sorry about that. sinbad
  10. File Name: Alb DVa Leutnant Walter Böning Jasta 19 File Submitter: sinbad File Submitted: 12 Jun 2010 File Category: Albatros Skins This skin depicts the camo and markings on Albatros D.Va flown by Leutnant Walter Böning with Royal Prussian Jasta 19, his first assignment, where he downed 6 enemy aircraft between April and October 1917. It has often been misidentified as a plane he flew with Jata 76 later in his career. More than one source incorrectly suggests blue and white Jasta 76 markings (and I did a draft in those colors). Greg VanWyngarden and Bob Pearson both hold what I believe is the better view, rendered here, with the yellow and black horizontal stabilizer of Jasta 19 and red trim for the fuselage markings. 11. Since my foggy recollection of work buried away was jogged by Lt Wolff, I went rummaging and found my skin for the Alb DVa Walter Böning with Jasta 76b on Oct 1917. It should be up later today.

  14. File Name: Walter Boning Jasta 76B File Submitter: sinbad File Submitted: 10 Jun 2010 File Updated: 11 Jun 2010 File Category: Albatros Skins This skin depicts the camo and markings on Albatros D.Va flown by Leutnant Walter Böning commanding Royal Bavarian Jasta 76b in October 1917. After scoring a total of 17 victories, while flying an Albatross with different markings on 31 May 1918, he collided with another member of his squadron and was then attacked and wounded by 70 Sq RAF. He managed to land safely but never flew in combat again. There is some uncertainty regarding the details. The result you see is entirely my own, and my time machine is no longer operational. This is an interpretation, a well-grounded interpretation, but certainly a mix of accuracy and flaws. There are no decals for this skin set. Enjoy. sinbad Click here to download this file

Hi GTERL- NP - Actually I was working on the 9700 Strutter yesterday. There is little time lost in getting this up. It was very fussy and took about six months back in 2008. It went into the archive in January 2009, I DK why. After I post this bmp set for Boning, I'm going back to the 9700 Strutter mesh mash. That was a diversion from the Staaken cockpit revisions, and I forget what I was doing when I went back to that. Anyhow, it's nice to know someone is following my pokey pixel pushing. sinbad
  17. File Name: Lt Wolff Jasta 5 Dva File Submitter: sinbad File Submitted: 09 Jun 2010 File Updated: 12 Jun 2010 File Category: Albatros Skins I did these a long time ago and then forgot about them after an illness. Lt Wolf Jasta 5 This is perhaps the most colorful skin applied to a Jasta 5 Albatross. Obviously a Bavarian, Ltn.d.R. Wolf(f) served with Jasta 5 from 25Jun17 to 8Aug17 when he was sent to the hospital when some sources do report that he died.. The spelling of his last name is 'iffy', could be one or two "f's". Wolff was credited with a victory on July 27th but first victory might have been obtained when he was a pilot with FFA 45 in Sept 1916. In which case his first name might be Walter and he might have two victories. Enjoy. Notes for update June 12, 2010 - I just re-discovered these files, which are a bit later than those previously posted. I have not examined them to determine why they were revised, but I obviously regarded these as improvements back in January 2009. This was a very challenging project that ran on over two years;many of the revisions were minor. So update your previous DL if you wish. Click here to download this file

  19. Ltn. Wolff of Jasta 5

OK since you bought it u p. I did these a long time ago but didn't post them yet. I was in hospital for a while and just forgot about a lot of these things. Grab em at the DL.
  20. More great work. Thanks Quack74.
  21. Flyable Staakens

Here are the latest. There doesn't seem to be a real advantage to importing from FS9 even if I could. I no longer have 3dMax so it is out of my hands, but I have looked at the files and while there are some things (such as the rudder pedals) that are better there are others which are better in the model we now have. Meanwhile-

  23. Flyable Staakens

Thanks bhaskar2789 Yes I have the FS9 version but DK how to import it to FE. If you know how, please tell me. For the time being I believe I am limited to Photoshop and ini mods on textures mapped for FE. I do like the logos in the wheel hubs tho! The dash platte will be soon revised.] Meanwhile this is now the latest version of what is possible-
  24. Flyable Staakens

Yes- as far as I can tell the cockpits were finished in aluminum to save weight. I'll tinker some with the texture, but these are combos of hi res and very stretched lo-res, so there are real limits, as I'm certain you appreciate. These planes cost 500,000 dm each and no expense was spared. Many carried captured Lewis guns, rather than the heavier Spandaus. These are the best photos I have.I am unable to model the fascinating AH/Compass at the top of the central console. That sort of thing was really astounding in 1916! The limits of the original model and the B-17 cockpit I used for this mod (with the kind consent of Capun) did not permit me to do that.
  25. Flyable Staakens

This is the latest revised version of the Staaken cockpit. Sorry I can't get closer to reality; without a full 3dMax custom cockpit this is about as good as it's going to get. The important instruments (AH, compass, altitude, slip gauge, clock) all are fully functional. I'm nearly ready to kick this puppy out the door. The bomb sight will be there is essentially the same form as for the Gotha.
