  1. arthur666 is right, couldn't get past Mach 1.05, clean, at 34000 feet. Kulbit80 posted something similar at the top of this page, I think the problem might be in the engine data. I don't know all that much about those entries, and I know the Pratt was a POS, but the MaxInletTemp is listed as 120 as opposed to 523.9 for the Blk30's GE F-110. That's got to be a mistake, there must be others because this thing is kinda doggish, if ya know what I mean.
  2. saisran, nice screenies, but it looks like you have some stuff from the original (non-working) TMF VDI. Go into the Cockpit folder and delete DIRECTORMARK.TGA, RANGEBAR.TGA, and VDI.TGA. Those textures aren't used by the TW VDI. I think you can only have the one camera, but in the forthcoming update it'll be on the VDI screen (as in the real 'Cats TCS) and the HSI will be fixed to show proper heading info. If you like 'Cats (and I think you do) you'll like this.
  3. Dan, I think I speak for everyone on this, (and if not, phlbft) don't be a stranger!
  4. Hey Wrench, me too. Unfortunately the new updates' Combined Flight Model may preclude this, at least with the A/B models. They seem to come in about thirty feet too high; nothing a well timed throttle chop can't handle.
  5. Holy...cow! saisran that entry is definitly the one you're looking for. Also open up the CameraFOV= to 12.5 or so. (Or whatever you like.) Smart idea, landing camera. Between you and me, I can't get on the boat, either. Wrench, if you check back here, does this mean those other entries are invalid? If not, what do they do? Boy, I guess you do learn something new everyday!
  6. saisran, the TW VDI (ILS) has already been adapted for use on the MF 'Cats. You'll have to d'load and install the Tomcat Superpack vers.1.8, (you've got to start with that) I think the Combined Flight Model, and then the April 2012 Avionics Update. They're all in the SF2 d'load section. Here's the SuperPack: http://combatace.com...mcat-superpack/ . The first Update: http://combatace.com...ate-april-2012/ . And the Avionics Update: http://combatace.com/files/file/12879-f-14ab-avionics-update-april-2012/ .Install in that order and post back. By the way, the entire SuperPack is going to be updated very soon w/the D models updated to the same standard.
  7. Sorry about that, just did some testing, I'm afraid I was guilty of assuming (oh, no). Field of View is adjustable, seems pitch is not. Probably because the camera view is a clone of the forward view. AFIK, except in the case of a TV guided weapon, the game will only display one view at a time. There's something in the KB about that, but you'll have to dig it up.
  8. Just a reminder, if you change the name of the missle, you must change the name of the ini. file inside the folder to match.
  9. What now?

Not to mention if the answer is too easily Googled and then it just becomes reaction-time testing. That would be a problem. I'm not sure Q&A would work.
  10. saisran, look for this entry in the aircraft data ini.: [CAMERA] SystemType=EO_CAMERA ModelNodeName=Cam CameraFOV=2.500000 SightTexture= CameraPosition=0.0,8.4,-1.0 CameraYaw=0.000000 CameraPitch=-2.000000 CameraRoll=0.000000 EODisplayFlags=268763392 SeekerRange=30.000000 SeekerGimbleLimit=40.000000 SearchFOV=5.000000 SearchTexture= MinExtentPosition=-0.124,7.331,-1.007 MaxExtentPosition= 0.124,8.683,-0.721 As you can see, there are entries for Field of View, Yaw, Pitch, Roll, etc. The one you want is CameraPitch, which in this example (this is the MF F-14) is 2.5 degrees down. Save a copy of the original ini. to your desktop in case you screw up, and just play around with the entry in the aircraft folder, observing the in-game results with each change, and you really can't go wrong. When bored, peruse the Knowledge Base (for both SF1 and SF2, a lot of stuff is cross-applicable), there's lots of good stuff in there.
  11. 4th of July

Thanks guys, and ya know... trouble just seems to find US! (Oh, no!)
  12. Check this out: http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB3w/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2343 . That's the steering dot. (Thank Streakeagle.)
  13. And...a barbeque in a couple of months, if I'm not mistaken...mmm barbeque! (And at Dave's house!)
  14. Or a different internal hard drive, yes. Or install the game to the same/different hard drive.
  15. Thing is, I was using third-party weapons on normal settings, now weapons on normal are magic lasers, on hard, meh, OK I guess, but still some 1 hit, 2 kills.
  16. Just put them in the same folder as: Objects, Controls, Missions, PilotData, and ScreenShots. Afterwards you should have those five plus Flight, Effects, and Sounds. (Eight folders total.) Hah, Eric beat me to it. You won't necessarily have a Terrains folder.
  17. Tomcat, did you drop the Flight, Effects, and Sounds folders into the C:/Users/blah, blah, blah/Saved Games/StrikeFighters2 Europe folder?
  18. DarthRevan, do you have the game installed to a drive other than C? If so, take a look in the game folder in C:Users/blah,blah,blah/Saved Games. If the F-14A and F-14A_77 are in there, your paths to the other drive are screwed up; it could also bear on your problem with the AIM-54A. If, OTH your mod folder is on C:, then . Whoops, my bad. I meant do you have your mod folder on a drive other than C:? (A different drive than the game is installed on?) Also, take a look at this: http://combatace.com/topic/72628-sf2na-problems/
  19. Darth, do you have a weapons pack installed? If you do find the AIM-54A in it and rename it (AIM-54A1). Its overwriting the stock AIM-54A and the specific station codes are different.
  20. dsawan, put a copy of that Options ini. and the Version ini. in the Copy Rising Sun folder that should be in the Saved Games folder on your C drive; if that folder does not exist, create it.
  21. Crazyhorse is right, we do all know what to do with those folders, and when I first started using JSGME a couple years ago (in Silent Hunter4), that's why I used it, I didn't know where all those folders went and it did. But, that's not all it does...For instance I just updated to June 2012, normally I'd have to update the main ini.s for all my non-player flyables. With JSGME I don't have to, no renamed ini., no dance, no nuthin'. Just disable the mod, update, and re-enable; done. One of the other things it can do is enable/disable different mods in the same folder, for instance there are three pretty good speech mods available; ones been available for a couple of years (the SFG Gold speech mod), the other two are pretty recent (Skatezilla's Hawkeye mod and Romflyer's ATC mod). Now suppose you had the older mod installed and liked it, further suppose you installed one or both of the others and didn't. Ordinarily you would delete the speech folder and re-install the one you liked, with JSGME you just mouse-click the one you don't like and disable it. In this for instance it may not seem like a big deal but if you want to try, say, multiple enviornmental mods to see how they interact with each other and run on your machine, you can do that too. For instance, you can have Stary's SARCASM 1.2, SARCASM 1.3, Unified Effects, I don't remember who's Sky Mod, and whatever else you want in the Mods folder and enable them one at a time, all at once, or anything in between. I'm not saying it's necessary, but if you give it a try you might find it more usefull than you might have thought. Oh, almost forgot, the file structure is replicated, if you go into each of the modules you'll find Objects, Effects, Flight etc., inside them. You can just drop them where they're supposed to go just like usual.
  22. Yeah Caesar, Ravenclaw's got the Tomcat pit Max files, he said he could fix it, but it might take some time.(Two weeks?)
  23. Homefries, check out this: http://www.simhq.com/_air9/air_272a.html ,this: http://www.simhq.com/_air9/air_273a.html ,and this: http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_055a.html .Not sure if this will help, but a pretty exhaustive explanation of bombing in the Sim/RL, and the role of the depressed pipper.
