WOV Menu to SF2
SupGen replied to Menrva's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
blaze, check out my menu mod for DATs' WOA and WOR, here: http://combatace.com/files/file/13996-wings-over-africa-and-wings-over-russia-sf1-style-menu-screens-in-sf2/ It should, at least, get you started on what you want to do. -
Can I add North Atlantic to an already modded install?

Here's another way to set up your mod folder for patches/DLCs: http://combatace.com/topic/78220-jsgme-in-strikefighters2/?hl=jsgme . Not as complicated as it sounds and after it's set up, two clicks... -

Hey CH, I don't think that's a "one post wonder" at all. I think it's a certain split personality troll we're all too familiar with. -

Fubar and Migbuster have something up their respective sleeves: If this works, it'll be the mod of the year, at least. And knowing those two it'll work. -

RAZBAM and flightengine.ini
SupGen replied to beachav8r's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Beach, the Razbaam and 3W models are completely different; you have to use the 3W one, I'm using that with the Razbaam pits. I think Homefries included instructions for that in the mod. -
My best wishes for you and yours Dave, I lost my father to a brain tumor in '01.

Bravissimo! Still, as your attorney, I advise you to switch to the Superpack. -
Just Bought SF2 NA
SupGen replied to Barkhorn1x's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Barkhorn, which F-14 model are you flying? The D models (some?, all?) use the Avionics70.dll and do not have multi-target capability. Try the earlier models; the F-14A+ is my favorite. -

Not fer nuthin', as they say, but a renaming might be in order...the word Zyklon has a rather unpleasant association for some people. I assume this is the Zyklon-A; a Zyklon-B would be well, unfortunate. -

Except...that it's not. The single most important factor contributing to disorientation in the Sim cockpit is the fact that the chair you are sitting in isn't bolted into the aircraft you are flying. In a real aircraft, you are...in order to see you Six o'clock you have to turn your head 180 degrees; your body, your "seat of the pants" senses keep track of this and allow you to stay oriented. This very same thing will screw you in an IFR situation, but dogfighting is by nature VFR. Even with TrackIR you are not turning your head the same amount as in RL; if you really look at your Six you can't see your monitor! Your (subconcious? reflexive?) mind senses this and gets confused. I know this all sounds kind of elementary, and in fact it is, however, those are the kinds of things that we sometimes lose sight of. Using player to target, even just for a second, allows for the kind of spatial orientation that would come naturally if you were actually sitting in the aircraft with your body locked into one position in relation to the aircraft's centerline. Take a look at Andy Bushs' articles over at SimHQ, he was a Rhino/Hog driver in RL and he states that the only thing that can give you the real life "feel" of being in the cockpit in a Sim is to get out of the cockpit once in a while with the player to target view. When you get disoriented in the "heat of battle" a quick look in player to target can straighten you right out; it is not cheating, it is compensating for the limitations of the viewing system in the Sim. -
SF2 - what has been taken away?
SupGen replied to MigBuster's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Hah! There we have it gentlemen, the bang-your-head against the wall until it gives way solution (me), and on the other hand, the elegant, cerebral solution from eburger (I'm stil trying to figure out how he got the Lens Flare button to work in OTC). Thank you Eric, I'll definitely try this on the next DLC. More than one way to skin a cat! -

Actually, this isn't true. See this post: http://combatace.com/topic/78792-having-your-cake-and-eating-it-too/ . It sounds harder than it is; it's well worth it, I have the DLC F-104 with the corrected nozzle animation in July 2012. Read this and do it. -

Heck, I read your post over at ThirdWire...don't forget, you can stay at July2012 (or whatever you've got installers for) and still have all the up-to-date DLCs' etc; just ask and I'll point you to the relevent threads. -

installing addon AIRCRAFT
SupGen replied to deanklef's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Methinks the problem might be this: It looks like the wrong cockpit was supplied with the aircraft; in the Cockpit .ini, change ModelName=F-86D-45_Cockpit to read ModelName=F-86F_cockpit. The funny thing is, the readme says: "Thanks to Wrench for looking over an early version of this update and supplying some additional fixes and adjustments, as well as the F-86D cockpit for the IIN model." Well, after 16000+ posts, I guess Wrench is entitled to forget stuff! -

This is a (by no means definitive) Weapons Pack for StrikeFighters2 WWll installs. I used Wrench's WWll Weapons Pack for SF1 (which itself was based on Bunyap's 2006 Pack) as a guide; I used 1948 as a cutoff point so a lot of stuff that was in that pack is gone. I tried to be fairly ruthless on that as I really don't see WWll continuing past that point; in my opinion it would have taken a lot of "what if" just to get there. None of this is original work on my part, I copied what I could from Killerbee's Ordnance Packll, what I couldn't find there I converted from the SF1 WWll Pack. It's more of a compilation so that most, at least, of what's needed for a WWll install can be found in one place. As usual, any screw ups are mine. Hope you enjoy it. SupGen 2/16/13 -
Airstrikes on land targets in SF2NA
SupGen posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
File Name: Airstrikes on land targets in SF2NA File Submitter: SupGen File Submitted: 06 May 2013 File Category: SF2 Series Add On Missions and Campaigns This will allow you to attack Airfields, Fuel Tanks, Evil Comm Buildings, and many other land targets in game assigned Strike missions. The Mod uses JSGME to allow an easy, (almost) one click change between land and naval targetting. JSGME also ensures that if you don't like the Mod, you can easily restore your install to it's original condition. I've only tested this in single missions; I don't think you'll fufill the Campaign Victory Conditions with this installed (you'll never even see the Kiev, much less sink it). To anyone who already knows the trick cheers, you don't need this, anyone else, thank snapper 21 for the original idea. SupGen 5/6/2013 Click here to download this file
