Mark, I appreciate you trying to explain the situation but the politics aren't my concern at the moment. The EAW section isn't my watch and we have moderators that are more knowledgeable about the history to make more informed decisions. My problem is this...right here in your thread dated August 8th: "the SimHQ disputed version"? Really? Not only does it read like we host the file(which we don't)...it almost sounds like we helped create it(which we didn't). Then throw on top of it the sprinkling of how "dangerous" it is along with the "safety of the EAW community" being at stake? This nonsense is coming from a member that we were trying to help with his own sub forum and frequent moderation no less. It instantly makes me not care about his plight given the fact he's dragging SimHQ through the mud with his rhetoric. Honestly...I've been modding my sims for 25 years and if I downloaded a mod that made my game worse...it would be uninstalled and I would be commenting on it in forums. If what you're saying is true, and the mod is really that bad...word will get around and it will be a self correcting problem without having to use the tactic of slandering SimHQ. I guess we'll see if VB wants to continue escalating the situation by making more derogatory comments about SimHQ. (where he currently has his own sub-forum at present) I've said enough...this is my last post on the subject here.

I'm not hiding any true screen name here...Force10 has been my screen name since 1998. I'm currently a global moderator at SimHQ and have been for the last 8 years. (member for almost 20) If you read VB's post...you might recognize SimHQ as the place that hosts the dangerous file that makes the EAW community unsafe. At least that's how it reads the way he phrased it. So just to set the record straight... SimHQ is a discussion forum. SimHQ doesn't have a version of the software, disputed or otherwise. Authoring and distribution is all by other parties, not SimHQ. Giving the impression that we host "dangerous" files is something I have a problem with. SimHQ has done what it can to give both modding parties their own sub-forums, moderating them the best they can...and has over 300,000 posts regarding EAW that can be accessed with both our live forum and EAW archive forum. Why on earth a modder that has had a sub-forum created for him at SimHQ...would spread misleading info that we have dangerous files is beyond me. I can only guess he doesn't value the traffic and the service SimHQ provides any longer. Personally...I haven't flown EAW in 5 years or so and couldn't tell you who's mod I used last, and have no preference either way. I have however...received every complaint registered in the EAW forum over the last 8 years that needed one of our moderators attention. For our efforts...we get misleading info being spread. Luckily, I'm just one voice of many at SimHQ in terms of admin/moderator staff...because if it were up to me I would lock the EAWPRO sub forum as an archive read only and ban VB for spreading this crap. Stolen work or not...giving the impression we host dangerous files is a hanging offense to me given the effort SimHQ has put in for the EAW modders.

When you say these files are "dangerous" and need to be "removed for the safety of the EAW community"...are there viruses or malware in them? Or are you just posturing to get a rival's mods removed? Of course you throw in the threat of how you're going to pick up your toys and go home if your demands aren't met. The two of you have done more to fracture and ruin the EAW community more than anyone else with your petty BS. To be honest...one of you dropping out might not be the worst thing for what's left of the community.

I couldn't help but notice your name on a lot of the KAW mods I was downloading last nigh Wrench. The Korea terrain looks absolutley fantastic! I temporarily screwed it up when I installed Stary's textures and his fix...the airfields had large black areas surrounding them. I might not have done the install properly so I went back to your stock terrain and all is good! A really great mod overall...kudos to you and all the KAW modders.

Yikes! I guess all this is my fault. I didn't realize that it would cause such an uproar. In my mind at least...I didn't think that asking for 1 file that was basically made by a modder, that does it for passion not profit, was going to be so bad. Especially since the file was going to be free in 24 hours again anyway. And no...I didn't register under another name...as you can see by the thread, I got the file a day and a half later. I don't do much simming at all anymore...so I just didn't feel like busting out the credit card for 1 file. Besides the time needed...part of my frustration with gaming is the over monetizing and DLC whoring that's going on ($5 for a scarf...hello?) as well a online connection requirements for offline play...but these are conversations for another time...just an overview of why I didn't just start throwing money into the pot when I probably won't be back here for another couple years. A little irony: I was looking into re-installing Mig Alley as Iv'e been looking for a Korean War era flight sim fix for ages, then I stumbled upon the KAW mod for SF2 and as if in a trance...I found myself entering my PayPal info to sign up here for a month...lol. Anyway...please don't be too hard on Kentcol...I'm sure he meant well and was just trying to help a fellow member out to get 1 file. If you need to break out the ban hammer...go ahead and swing it my way...I would hope the trial might take a month or so...just long enough for me to gather the KAW mods! lol Apologies

Thanks so much for the reply 33Lima! I am a long time member at SimHQ and your post over there sparked my interest back up. I am at work right now so I will try your suggestions when I get home. I was looking at the campaign ini's and it seems like it would be possible to swap out the missing aircraft from Skunkworks for something else. It will be tedious but I kinda dig that sort of thing. Now if I can just keep the wife outta my hair for a few hours, I will be up in a crate (and probably on fire) in no time! Thanks Again!

Hello All! New poster alert! Let me start by saying I am in awe of what is being done with this mod. This definitely a labor of love and it shows! I'm a long time simmer since the late 90's and RBII/3D was one of my all time favorite sims. I bought FE2 last year but I haven't had a lot of time to spend on it as of yet. I recently re-installed it and started looking for mods and this one certainly looks like a must have! I have a couple of questions and need a bit of help in some areas. I have a few of the SF2 titles so modding Thirdwire stuff is not entirely foreign to me. 1. The first issue I have is not going to go over well I'm sure. When I saw the mod on Combat Ace I purchased a membership right away and have no issues there, it's all good. I do however, have a problem with the Skunkworks portion of the mod. Having to give that much of my personal info for a mod is a little bit over the top IMO. Truth be told, I would much rather give them a 10 spot via Paypal and be done with it such as I did with Combat Ace. I haven't had to give that much info when purchasing brand new titles. That said, will the campaign run without the Skunkworks downloads? Is there any mirrors where their downloads are available? I'm sure they have their reasons, but if the campaign won't run without their mods than it's a no-go for me I guess. No worries, I can chalk it up to not doing my homework before paying for the membership to get this mod. 2. I realize most of these mods were created for FE1 so there are some things that need to be done. I don't have sound on a lot of aircraft. Some aircraft require you to put a sound file in the "Sounds" folder, but since FE2 doesn't have one, I created one in my mod folder and dropped them in there and still no joy. Another example is the E3 downloads don't have a sound file with them, the instructions just say to drop the file in the aircraft folder, but the sound is not present there either. 3. Pete's FM stuff: Do I just grab every file Pete has for FM's and install those? I don't see too many aircraft specific files, just a lot of packs for different EXP for FE1. That's all for now. I realize a lot of my issues are because I never owned the 1st generation of Thirdwire products, just the second. I am really interested in the 1916 campaign but I know I need to get this 1915 one solid first. I think this mod is the true succesor to Red Baron, and thats high praise indeed! Great work!
