I'm not saying I know anything about the war, but I do know a little about aircraft compasses. Most compasses for aircraft are designed for the magnetic variances in the northern hemisphere, not the southern, so it is certainly possible that they may have been inop during the war. if this can be verified, perhaps it would be a good thing to put in the difficulty menu?

Hey NC! Welcome back!

Just go to the NVidia site and under Downloads, select download drivers. Keep going through the choices till you get to your card.

It's really good to start seeing this sim come to life. Great job guys!

Wow... August '03... hard to believe I've been here for two years now! and I was one of the late guys to hop on back in the LOMAC hype!

I love the complete disregard of the chain...

Hows that for low? Oh, and robert, you should probably try to limit the size of your sig to 600x150, and even smaller would be better. Not everyone has a fast connection.

Hey BB, I just checked out your new site, the Digital Aviation Art one. I gotta say, I'm VERY impressed with your guy's work. While I'm a broke college student now, and in no way can pay for such art, I absolutly love some of those shots that you guys have.

Pete, out of curiosity, what settings do you run PF at? and what else do you have in your system?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050820/ap_on_...shunned_warship San Francisco Shuns Retired USS Iowa By BRIAN SKOLOFF, Associated Press Writer 16 minutes ago SAN FRANCISCO - The USS Iowa joined in battles from World War II to Korea to the Persian Gulf. It carried President Franklin Roosevelt home from the Teheran conference of allied leaders, and four decades later, suffered one of the nation's most deadly military accidents. Veterans groups and history buffs had hoped that tourists in San Francisco could walk the same teak decks where sailors dodged Japanese machine-gun fire and fired 16-inch guns that helped win battles across the South Pacific. Instead, it appears that the retired battleship is headed about 80 miles inland, to Stockton, a gritty agricultural port town on the San Joaquin River and home of California's annual asparagus festival. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (news, bio, voting record), D-Calif., a former San Francisco mayor, helped secure $3 million to tow the Iowa from Rhode Island to the Bay Area in 2001 in hopes of making touristy Fisherman's Wharf its new home. But city supervisors voted 8-3 last month to oppose taking in the ship, citing local opposition to the Iraq war and the military's stance on gays, among other things. "If I was going to commit any kind of money in recognition of war, then it should be toward peace, given what our war is in Iraq right now," Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi said. Feinstein called it a "very petty decision." "This isn't the San Francisco that I've known and loved and grew up in and was born in," Feinstein said. San Francisco's maritime museum already has one military vessel ? the USS Pampanito, an attack submarine that sank six Japanese ships during World War II and has about 110,000 visitors a year. Officials in Stockton couldn't be happier. They've offered a dock on the river, a 90,000-square-foot waterfront building and a parking area, and hope to attract at least 125,000 annual visitors. After the Korean war, the Iowa was decommissioned and placed in reserve in a Philadelphia shipyard for three decades. In 1988, it was recalled to duty escorting oil supply ships safely in and out danger in the Persian Gulf. In 1989, 47 sailors were killed in an explosion that tore through a gun turret during a training exercise. The warship, decommissioned by the Navy in 1990, is currently anchored with a mothballed fleet in Suisun Bay, near the mouth of the San Joaquin-Sacramento River Delta. San Francisco's rejection of such a storied battleship is a slap in the nation's face, said Douglass Wilhoit, head of Stockton's Chamber of Commerce. "We're lucky our men and women have sacrificed their lives ... to protect our freedom," Wilhoit said. "Wherever you stand on the war in Iraq ... you shouldn't make a decision based on philosophy."

Wow, great shot!

Here are some pics that I took while flying with some buddies in FS2004.

I stand corrected. But I think we both come to the same conclusion, no, it's not worth it :)

What about the F6f Hellcat? Granted, it's a totally different class of aircraft, but it still fits your criteria Faster, more maneuverable (turning, climbing, diving), bigger armament, and an all around better fighter than the Zero, it's primary enemy of the time. F-4 = Living proof that you can make anything fly if you strap big enough engines to it!

I think the only real difference between the two is the looks. So if you want to spend $120 for a cool little LCD screen, sure, go ahead. Otherwise, probably not worth it :)

The last ones were in June, but there havn't been any July or August. As for september, it's not september yet :D

I've been using the 64 bit version of 77.77 since I got my windows 64 a week or so ago... they seem fine to me.

1. No, it's not. You will get a performance boost (not sure how much) but it won't be worth spending $200-300 on a new card. 2. I think the 660GT is better than the 9800XT, but not by much. If there's a difference, it's rather small. If you had to choose between the two, though, 6600GT would be the better value for the money, since it's a later gen card. If you really want to see some improvement for the money, I'd go with a 6800GT. I love mine! I think the prices nowadays are down in the $250-300 level. So in short, unless you're planning on going 6800GT or better, it's probably not worth the money.

Good choices there! 2 gigs will be more than enough for ya, that should definatly get you through till the next upgrade... For the Raptors, don't bother waiting. Those drives have been out for years, and they're designed for gaming. If you want storage, go with something else. I'd love to see that system in action, you're gonna love it. And thanks but no thanks on the manual :)

Hey Nesher, welcome back buddy! Nice to see you again.

Wow! What a system! You'll be perfect with those video cards. For the memory, Corsair is great, just make sure you go with the XMS series. I'd suggest the XL version, too. That's what I've got, and it's great. Good overclockers too, if you're into that type of thing (though with this system, I doubt you'll need it :)) If you want the fastest hard drives, go with the WD Raptors. They don't hold as much space though. I've got a Samsung SP1213C, and it's plenty fast. Do your research, though, I wouldn't take my advice :) The ASUS A8N is a great board, but I would just like to throw the MSI K8N Neo4 Diamond in the running too. Again, do your research. Now, for the case. If you want performance, I'd suggest the Antec P180. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811129154 I've seen some complaints about getting some wires in place originally, but once their in, I havn't seen any complaints. It's got a duct that allows your videocards to pull in cool air from outside the case, instead of trying to recycle hotter air. And it's downright sexy. So theres my two cents, some others might have some good ideas for ya. Good luck with your system!
