Man, I've been there before; hope you get some rest and good chow tonight. To those on duty today, I raise my beer. Cheers to all and Happy 4th!

What's up all, I didn't even know that the site went down, but it's good be post here again. I just finished my enlistment with the 11th ACR, and wow, 2 years have flown by. I'l never forget the friends I made and the adventures I had there, but it's time to press on; perhaps another enlistment??? Who knows. -ZAG

Dude! Tell him "Mortars are hung" He'll know what platoon I'm from ;)

Thanks man, USAFMTL, I remember him- SFC Hobbs from C Troop. I was in HHT, but I got to work with him in some of our little town we had out in the "box" BTW, I re-enlisted for 3 more years. OH GAWD! Good thing is that I'm going for a recruiter position. Yep, working for the devil himself :)

Thanks Nesher! That was one thing I managed to make off with. The only downside to the Blackhawk Combat Vest is that you can't move the mag pouches around, wich makes for a slight pain when in the prone position lol.

My trigger finger is gettin' itchy.... Jeez Louise, and I was just stopping by to say hi to everybody as I'm on a 96 hr pass this weekend and come across this website link that was posted. To tell the truth, I just about threw up this $3.96 beer in my hand. Kind of an irony though; the beer's name is "Arrogant Bastard". Heh- Well, I'll try to check in when I can. Later all!

Just wanted to drop a line and say HI ALL! I've been reclassed to infantry from commo, and I'm pretty motivated to be a part of. The last couple of weeks, we've been mostly turning wrenches in the motor pool. We just got back from a 3 week stint at Ft. Carson, CO- playing OPFOR against the 3rd Armored Cav which will be or already now is in Iraq. It was something never done before since all units that are deploying come to us at the NTC for that type of training. In the end, the operation was a success in terms of logistics and execution, plus Ft. Carson was a really nice change from the Mojave desert! We did quite a few mission out there during that time, adn one I got to participate in as an insurgent. It was awesome, we had a 4 man RPG team- 2 of us with M-4's, and 2 had RPG's. We ended up taking out a Bradley fighting vehicle, and I smoked a Humvee gunner. After the end of the battle, there were only 2 Brads KIA and ours was one of them. Thing is, that we are all TOC rats- we work in the S3 Operations shop and we didn't usually go in these missions, so the Grunts were pretty impressed with us, and it made my transition into the infantry platoon much easier (less Sh*t talking from those guys). Anyways, I'm still glad to be a member of this website, and I look forward to hearing from some of you; and I'm wondering what everybody has been up to lately. Take care all, and when I get a chance I'll post some pics of the Ft. Carson trip. ALLONS! Zag

Hey guys, I made E-4 yesterday. Of course I had the blood rank... The crap beaten out of me. Fur cryin' out loud.... I made E-4 5 years ago! NOW, I have to endure this again?? For some reaon, I'm always bruised and battered when I come home to my gal. I guess I should'a stayed away from the U.S.M.C. LOL

Ok, I got the troop pic. I'm the one second from the right in the 3rd row. The place we took it at is an area we call "Painted Rock". It's the insignia of all the units to come thru NTC.

Way to go Chief.. I wish I had the time for something like that. Shoot, I still haven't had the opportunity to pick up WOV!
-
Congrats! Train her well, and she'll be waxing other guys' tails left and right.

There are alot of things that I'd like to do to him in a personal way.. Yet, he must be tried and convicted by his peers in a court of law. I say move him to GITMO and we can have our way with him, but I don't think that will happen.

Hey guys, Aside from the once in a while (or so) trip home to Vegas from Ft. Irwin. I have earned the "pleasure" (I hate shopping) to go with my fiance' and pick out a wedding ring for her. I'm just going to use tinfoil for mine. Does anyone know a website or chainjewler that has decent prices for good hardware?

UGH MY GAD!!!!!!!!

Sorry fellas, didn't mean to mislead... I used to be in the Marines, but as far as the ARMY goes, they do the same thing. Sheesh, I though the most elite CAV UNIT would be a little more gentile, but I guess not.. FYI- I'm with the 11th CAV from Ft. Irwin, CA. We're now on X-mas Exedous, so if you guys have questions, I'll be hitting the forums everyday just like I used to, since I'm home for a few very, very nice couple of weeks. I have a troop picture for you guys, I'll have it up soon.

LOL! You guys! Well, I figured after living together for 5 years I ought to make an honest woman out of her (and me and honest man). You guys crack me up! Tomorrow is the "ring day" and we're going to about 5 million/billion different stores. She researched that stuff on the web and she had a good idea of what she wants, but good god, I don't make much as an E-4 now. succubus.bmp

Hey all, I'm finally home on a 4 day pass. The training roations at NTC are going smoother, and we just shipped some guys from the 11 ACR to Iraq last week. I still don't know if I'm going yet, but I feel pretty close to the war in a way. The last 2 weeks, I was on funeral detail. It was really an honor to fold the flag over a soldier's grave- giving him an honorable sendoff. Yet, the hardest thing was giving a Bronze Star and Purple Heart to the wife of a 22 year old that was KIA the week before in Mosul. You can't help but feel a little choked, but you have to keep it in your guts. Hard to explain.. Anyways, hope all's well for everybody, and hope all had a Hap Hap Happy Turkey day. I sure did! ...Hmmm, now if I can only find that beer my girlfriend stashed somewhere...
