STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
pcpilot replied to Crusader's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, I decided to add my support to TK's efforts, so bought a copy of the game. Question...anyone added a cockpit to any of the AI planes? As soon as I finish downloading, Im gonna try the Hi-res Mig-21 cockpit by MK2 and see what happens. -
Prayers going up for Mannie and his familys' safety. God bless Mannie...

I wouldnt mind my hairline or waistline being updated...preferably the hairier, sleeker versions... However, I guess an update to my profile will just have to do...

That was a pretty cool video. You caught a LOT of the features, and very cool aircraft models, of Strike Fighters, not to mention the nice graphics. Watching the tank blow its turret from the missile hit and the A-10 hammer the next tank with its cannon was cool. The barrel rolls spraying flares was neat too. Uh oh...did I say "neat"???!!?? Uh, anyway, well done. TK should use that video to showcase his game.

Sakai, Its very heart warming to hear a young person like you remember you Grandfather as you do. You honor and respect him. His memory will never die as long as you hold it close. My sincerest condolences with your familys' loss. God bless. RIP Willard Simmons.

Sad news. I always appreciated her in the original series. RIP Majel...

Cool factoid. Funny how little things like that memory will pop into your mind. Makes me smile when I remember something like that.

Remember, Thanksgiving is a word of action. W.J. Cameron God bless and my best wishes for you all on this good day.

Congrats Petty Officer! Im sure you earned it.

PC3200 RAM? Thats a bit dated. Might I suggest PC6400 DDR2. It runs fine on my AMD 64X2 5400+ 2.8ghz machine on a Biostar mobo. The Geforce 9800 is a good mid-range card that will suprise you with its performance. You'll be able to afford a second card down the road for SLI. I have a Geforce 8600GT with 512mb DDR3 and it is awesome. You know, the Quad core intel machines are pretty nice these days and are easy on the wallet. But I sure like my dual core AMD machine. Nice when an entry level machine is powerful enough to run high end games AND still be reasonably priced.

My wife is a fan. I watched a concert on DVD, I think it was in Belgium, that was pretty darn good. The man is definately talented.

Two thoughts... I generally have a cap on anyways outside so being un-covered isnt much of an issue for me, though I've known for years that the USAF and Army can salute inside uncovered. Marines and Navy dont. No big deal. And to be perfectly honest, I didnt realize you couldnt salute the flag as it passed in a parade or I raised it at work; Ive been doing it for years, never did get a ticket... The anthem or pledge was when I placed my hand over my heart. So now we got a law says we can do what we shoulda been doin anyway, showing respect to our colors, in one form or another...whooptie-do. Just what we need, another law. You know what Echarlie? You go ahead and salute anyway bro, you earned it by God, law or no. Semper fi...

I've had a problem getting ships to shoot at all in the patched game. I did a vanilla install, added USS Long Beach CGN-9, made an anti-ship mission with the editor, and flew against the ship. It never engaged me with its weapons. I finally checked the gundata.ini and the 5"54 guns are listed there. The missiles, Talos and Terrier, are in the weaponsdata.ini file and in the weapons folder. We no longer have to add ships to the groundobjectdata.ini right? I doont think there is even one now right? So what have I done wrong?

Ship problem...
pcpilot replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Uh, never mind I guess...this was just a drill gentlemen...I got the latest SP4 CGN-9 from Capuns' site. Mine was an older SP3 version I think. I also finally got the weapons editor to work like the knowledge base shows and installed Bunyaps weapons pack. Turns out, I was looking at some screenies I shot of the cruiser and the forward most launcher of the two forward launchers didnt have any missiles on it. It was because they werent installed properly. (There are two forward launchers.) The missiles I saw before on the other forward launcher and the aft launcher were just dummy, not meant to fire. Thanks for the time you spent to reply...I usually dont ask for help until I have exhausted possibilities and dang when I do finally ask, I stumble on the answers...geeze... :slow(en): PS. Wrench, what do you think we can do to improve this ship? What ini edits could it use do you suppose? -
Ship problem...
pcpilot replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
OK, what did you do to get the terriers to fire? Up the search and track range? Unless that range is measured in inches, I flew all around the ship and nothing ever happened. I also noticed as I on occassion switched views to the ship, that the gun and missile batteries arent tracking me like they did prior to the patch. I'll try yours and malibus' suggestions though and see what happens. -
Adding New Weapons
pcpilot replied to Emil.H.91's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Thanks for the help Dave, didnt mean to be a pain. I didnt realize how much stuff is in the database. I had looked thru it and did a search but the info I needed didnt seem to be there. Guess I just needed to spend more time in it. One more question though...If I install any of the weapons packs, dont they change the data.inis for some of the aircraft? I thought Bunyaps did that, dont know about the others. Wouldnt that undo the patch improvements? -
Adding New Weapons
pcpilot replied to Emil.H.91's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ok cool, didnt know that. But when I click on the editor to start it for some reason it doesnt start. I had the same problem with some of the other older editors too. -
Adding New Weapons
pcpilot replied to Emil.H.91's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ok, heres one for you. Im doing the same thing, adding weps individually. Ive copied the data from an older weaponsdata.ini since I cant find it anywhere else to the weaponsdata.ini I extracted from the objects.cat file in my new install of the game and saved it. I then followed the procedure outlined in the directions in your link Dave, checking and double checking each thing. The weps still do not appear. I have added nukes, Aim-120s, -54's, and a few others. I made a weapons folder and placed all the addon weps in it. This folder is in the Objects folder. The reason I decided to add weps manually was becuase I cant get ANY weps to show up when I try installing Bunyaps or MF's weapons packs! The only one that seemed to show any weps was the WOI pack. Now mind you, this is a vanilla install patched with the latest Oct2008 patch. Im at a loss here... -
Great story...<S> and RIP...

Some things Ive noticed with the new patch...
pcpilot posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Maybe these things have already been talked about. If so, I missed 'em. I have SFP1 and now have it patched to the Oct2008 level. -First thing I noticed in flight was the flight models are definately different, espesially low speed handling. The F-4 and F-100 are really not low speed dogfighters any more which I expect is how it should be. I havent actually stalled but the mushy feeling and sloppy handling is sure there. -I also noticed that the desert map is looking pretty sharp. The sea, shoreline ,and city areas have been given a face lift looks like to me. Also like the static aircraft at the bases, Very nice... -I like the aircraft names on the map now, nice touch. Plus all the added pilots pictures to choose from, cool. -On the negative side...for some reason my F-4's, all varients, dont have Sparrows anymore. This could be because I messed up my install. I started with a vanilla install, added the patch, then Bunyaps weapons pack, then the MF weps pack 01/02/2008, then the WOI weps pack #1 dated Oct 20, 2008. Was that a mistake? -Not sure I like the F6 view going to static aircraft now also in addition to flying aircraft, takes too long to cycle thru the aircraft. -
Red Wings Over Dhimar v1.0
pcpilot replied to Baltika's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Yeah Batilka, dont let the lack of replies bug ya too much. Ive been modding off and on for a number of years here and elsewhere and to get a single reply is doing good, lol. You got the right idea to watch the number of downloads grow. THATS where the reward comes in. Well, got shot down last night by quad .50s as I strafed a parked aircraft so my first attempt at a campaign is over. Im going to start up again tonight after a fresh install...;o) -
Some things Ive noticed with the new patch...
pcpilot replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Great replies fellas, thanks. I'll start work on this tonight. You know, just a thought...maybe we could upload the edited inis here. That would save the community a lot of work. Of course, it wouldnt be so "personalized"...but a thought. I like the idea of making different inis for different weapon groups and ditching the most common un-used weapons like the inerts and dummies. Not being a knowledgable person with weps though, I wont likely be able to break them down by nationality. It'll take research.
