  1. Yeah, the ship flak is definately sniper right now. Supposedly the patch will fix that a bit. I found that same as you, I had to limit how many objects and units I emplaced in the mission. Too many and it wouldnt play very well. Add your mission as an attachment to your post and Ill give her a whirl. Mine is a couple posts up as an attachment.
  2. Whoa! Duuuuude! (Isnt that what they say now? hehe...) Looks good to me usafmtl! :D
  3. HERE! HERE! I second that motion! :D
  4. If you have tried this scenario, please give me some feedback. If its crap, say so and say why. This is how I learn. I wont be too upset...
  5. Ah! Listen to this! I found it in the book "Enemy at the Gates". Zhukov faced a surprise Japanese attack in 1939 in an area called Khalkin Gorge in Manchuria. The book says he won a tremendous victory over the vaunted Kwangtung Army. It earned him a promotion at a time when Stalin was killing off 50% of his officer corps during the great "purges". So if there was a land action, I wonder if there was an air battle also? Anyone know? If so, what aircraft participated?
  6. Yes, very cool Todd. Im looking forward to a little Pacific action. It'd be really cool to have a few Pacific Island maps and to be able to operate from a carrier. Question for you history buffs cause I cant find an answer... I know Russia attacked Japan in the last weeks of the war. But didnt they have a shootout in the late '30's? Some kinda border skirmish? I know that Zhukov who designed and help lead the counter-attack at Stalingrad was stationed in the Far East at that time and I understand he was a hero because of some action there. Im wondering because if we had some early Jap aircraft we could recreate the border clashes if they happened with the Soviet aircraft and maps we have now. I'd love to see some early planes like nates and claudes.
  7. Had a La-7 in dire straights pickin pieces outta his tail feathers when one of his squadron mates came to his rescue and ruined my next score...
  8. To MadJeff and other Moderators

Ya gotta love this guy! :D
  9. This game didnt come with a manual, so Im wondering a few things... 1st, how do I change my views. I only seem to get a limited view using F keys. 2nd, is there a key map list somewhere that I missed? I was hoping to find this to learn the keys. Ive noticed a few bugs in the aircraft list. I dont get a list of aircraft till I try scrolling it, then they all appear. Same for the maps. Ill add more questions Im sure as I fiddle with this more. Thanks for the help.
  10. To MadJeff and other Moderators

Gotta agree with everyone Jeff, this is my simsite too. Ive spent more and more time here as the days pass than elsewhere. Ive enjoyed the articles on the CPU's, joysticks, and the Pima Air Museum, my old stomping grounds. The crowd here is fun to chatter and joke with, a loose, laid back bunch, with only a few crusty farts like chief, me, and Ranger, hehehe. (Just kidding, I know there are more crusty farts than these 3, lol) Keep up the good work pal. Hey, when ya comin' out with a coffee mug and T-shirt? :D
  11. Who's gonna to Air Shows?

The Ramona Air Fair is comin up in a couple weeks, May 30th to June 1st. It started back in 1995 with only 3000 people attending. Was to help support the families of 6 fire fighting aircraft crewmembers who were killed in a very bad fire year in mid air collisions. The worst was right over Ramona when an old constellation was coming in to land same time as a OV-10 bronco and down they went nearly in the Kmart shopping center. One person was killed on the ground and 3 in the aircraft. Last year over 25,000 came to the 3 day show. We had two Navy F-18 Hornets fly in. LOVED how they did it too, flyin low and FAST! Let all Ramona know they were here, hehe. (Good ole NAVY... :D ) All the firefighting aircraft were there including S-2 Trackers and the new replacement aircraft, cant recall what they are called. They had a Sikorsky "Sky Crane" helo and OV-10's. They had Chuck Halls' P-51D and somebody's Ford Tri motor giving people rides for a fee. There was an old forestry PBY Catalina that flew in. Lets see, a F4U corsair, a PT-19 Stearman, several A-1 Skyraiders, a F8F Bearcat (VEEEEERY KEWL!), and probably 50 or 60 civilian aircraft of all strips. I bought a nice T shirt with a P40 from the AVG "Hell's Angels" Squadron on it, got a pencil drawing of "Gabby" Gabreski with his signature on it. Ate my way thru several sausage dogs and a beer while watching radio controlled aircraft, rode my bike around the flight line, chatted with a few local pilots, and watched several different flybys by various aircraft. All in all, and excellent aviation enthusiasts' sorta day, hehe. :D 8) Link that tells a little about it is here...http://www.ramonaairfair.org/index.htm Coupla images... http://www.ramonaairfair.org/images/airfai...02/Image51.html http://www.ramonaairfair.org/images/airfai...02/Image65.html

  13. Hey AD! Just to let you know...you aint the only ones who are fans of Soviet aircraft. Im not sure why I am as I am a cold warrior from way back. Perhaps it has something to do with curiosity of a former "adversary's" equipment, or maybe respect for those tough charachters with the red stars. Or perhaps Being someone who has always liked the underdog position when, in this case, it means flying equipment not quite so technologically advanced and more fly by the "seat of yur pants" style. Maybe we could throw in a little, "I like the way some of those planes look" too, espesially the SU-17/22. In any case, just to let you know, I like 'em too. Maybe we oughta start an "Aggressor" squadron using Soviet bloc equipment and tactics. That would take a bit of research I'm sure. Wonder if there is anyone on the forums who is a former "Bloc" pilot who could teach us some of these things? Heck, Maybe there is such a squadron already flying. Also, I should add that I really like your models, they LOOK NICE! Well done pal! :D
  14. Dixie Chicks

What? For bein bright, intelligent, and patriotic? Not my nightmare. I long for an intelligent woman to talk to. And if she's pleasing to the eye as well, then I guess Im doin allright in life at that moment... Sure hate to see one of those sweethearts get shot down though...
  15. Dixie Chicks

There's a lot to love about the south, hehe.
  16. "The Final Countdown"....the movie

Just a bit o' note... I was on the USS Independence tied up at peir12 in Norfolk with the USS Nimitz right next to us when this movie was being filmed, I beleive it was 1978. Yes, nearly all the movie as I recall was filmed tied up to the peir on the EAST coast, hehe. I remember standing on the catwalks watching along with everyone else every morning when the actors would show up. Douglas never even acknowleded our waves or requests for autographs. All the rest of the actors and the actress did take the time to wave and sign autographs, cant remember their names. Unfortunately, I never got any sigs. And yes, it was a pretty good movie. Liked the ending, kinda weird when the old commander and his wife came back to the ship in the 80's.
  17. Pukin' Dogs, fall in for Quarters......

Id think Id hafta join that A-7 squadron too, hehe.

  20. Army Aviation Question

ROFLOL! Hey Snapple, why ya think Marines are so cranky? Its from eatin all that so'called "chow". Now the Navy has grub! Steak, ice cream, sliders... Hey Skater, I think ya made yur point about Navy ships being big, hehe, Heck of a picture. Took 15 minutes to load... Ranger, yur points are well taken. The Army has an rather outstanding amphib capabiltiy. I expect though that Navy UDT was already ashore clearing the way of obstructions, etc. before you "mudmuffins" stepped ashore, hehe. (I KNOW this'll get a blast from the "Army", hehe) {QUOTE}Sh*t how did this turn from aviation into a naval discussion, and then into this nonsense screw it I'm gonna go play Tropico 2.{UNQUOTE} poor snapple, hehe, all us former military are a little squirrelly after bein in too long... :?

  22. Will a P3 1ghz machine with a radeon 8500 64 mbDDR video card and 512 MB PC133 ram be enough to run the 16bit textures? I install those textures after installing the 8bit correct? They are overwritten by the 16bit? Hopefully in the next 2 or 3 days, Ill be flyin' over the Somme, hehe. Hey, is there flak in this sim? How well does the AI pilots perform? Any significant problems with multiplayer?
  23. Can you Identify This?

ALLRIGHT! I CANT STAND IT ANYMORE! WHAT IS IT??!!?? :P
  24. FS-WWI's Aircraft of the Day!

A fire hazard? What'd I win? :P LOL! Yeah, looks like it'd be fun to WATCH fly, hehe. PS. Cant wait to try it ingame though...thanks Argon. :D
  25. Argon, I will be getting WW2 Fighters, SDOE soon. I ordered it from Ebay thanks to Dagger's help. I was wondering, what sequence should I install these patches and addons once the base software, SDOE, is installed? Also, is there any other changes I need to make to files in the game besides the B-stick one? Thanks, pc
