  1. It is a 'look down' instrument (generally) and it's orientation is directly related to this factor. When the aircraft is 'banking' it's down becomes sideways and thus no reading. It is not (to my knowledge) mounted on a gimble or gyro to keep it 'looking down'. Sorry you are dissappointed.

  4. posted Sat February 07 2004 02:36 PM by Wags As promised, here is a list of the majority of v1.02 changes to date (07 Feb). Note that the list below is simply from the first version of the patch we got this week; it is not final and newer versions will add additional changes. Please hold off on "what about XXXX bug?" type questions. A key point to remember too: A patch is to fix actual bugs, NOT add new features. - Fixed inability of some joysticks to use cannon trigger correctly. - Effect of ECM against the F-15C radar has been reduced. - Added "+" over padlocked target. - Re-enabled mini-HUD for all aircraft. - Increased air-to-air missile effectiveness. - Players can see each other's smoke rockets online. - Clients now receive air defense unit radar warnings on there RWR now. - Fixed blue screen bug of water explosions if user has a GF2 card. - New controller axis: Trim Pitch Trim Roll Trim Rudder Radar Slew Horizontal Radar Slew Vertical MFD Range TDC Slew Horizontal TDC Slew Vertical - Players can now adjust loadouts of wingmen within player's flight. - Civilian Traffic option now saved correctly. - Scenes setting option now saved correctly. - Hidden objects are no longer visible in the F10 or briefing views. - All sounds become near silent when game is paused now. - Reduced radar lock range of Russian aircraft to .85 of radar detection range. - When Russian planes lock a target and the sensor is changed, the lock will be retained (assuming sensor is capable of detecting / tracking target). - If Russian aircraft loses lock, the other sensor will attempt to continue lock. - Fixed aircraft velocity and target velocity indicators for Russian HUDs. - Range bumping on F-15C VSD has been corrected and TDC is reset to center of VSD after a range bump. - Increased the thickness of the RPI, RTR, and RMIN lines on the F-15C's HUD DLZ. - Re-made Mach number indication for Su-27/33, MiG-29 and F-15C. - Disabled ability to re-arm when landing outside an airfield. - Trim speed has been increased. - Removed chaff and flares from MiG-25P / RBT. - Enabled force feedback trim effect. - Implemented gain parameters for force feedback effects. - Disabled cockpit stick neutral position displacement emulation for fore feedback when trim is on. - Enabled cockpit camera control with joystick axis when cockpit mouse view option is off. - Changed joystick polling algorithm. - FBP fixed loadouts now correct. - Restored mouse zoom limits in the cockpit. - Mouse view option removed from cockpit options and moved to difficulty options. - The names for all Russian air-to-ground weapons are now visible on the Russian HUDs when in Russian HUD mode. - Restored object crash in external view. - Adjusted visibility range of ground object labels. - Fixed picture of M-818 on AWACS view. - Fixed bug regarding Betty voice after switching aircraft (Alt-J). - Invulnerable flag setting is corrected. - Ground based SAMs now work correctly with enemy ships in the mission. - Corrected behavior of turbulence (imperial units). - Corrected training missions. - Corrected crash from third mission of F-15C campaign. This covers most of what has been addressed so far in the 1.02 patch. Again, this patch is not done additional items will be added. Please be patient. -Matt Matt "Wags" Wagner Producer / Ubisoft
  5. hmm.. no sound fix yet. No optimisations in mission editor, interface, or graphics. A couple of comments on the news. I don't know if they will or won't be addressed. There is no list of known issues as has been requested by some on the Ubi forum. No official laundry list of items (that once addressed can be checked off) available to the public. I would like to believe that one exsists, but that (I hope) isn't just me. The list is not a final one as stated by Wags. Just keeping my fingers crossed and eyes open for future updates.
  6. http://www.rob.com/matt/videos/Airbus.mpg GD, this is how successful they are at removing the pilot.
  7. Anyone you can walk away from.......
  8. Just Saw This And.....

Disregard this post. My brain farted.
  9. Camera angle. It is a big aircraft, but the transport isn't. It's not in the same size catagory as a C-130, more like a DHC-6 Twin Otter.
  10. I didn't mean to sound critical. I'm sure there were a million thing moving at light speed though their heads at that moment. I just thought that even with a close call/near miss, anyone can call 'Konck it off" to gather themselves, evaluate the situation and go over things before continuing with the exercise. Keeping this in mind, I was just thinking that he should have made that call right away, then begin eveluating his circumstances electronically, and visually. Make his next decission and call out his "mayday" or whatever was in order. It sounded as if they were getting out (safely, I hope) and the only losses were the aircraft. I have never been in a mid-air, but I have been on the mike for more than a dozen emergencies. My intent was not to be critical (the board would do all of that, that was deemed appropriate). Just making an observation was all. Do you ever get out this way? KCOS (Peterson AFB)? Maybe if you have an RON or something I could buy you a cold one.
  11. That navy helicopter crash is mislabeled as Chinook. It should be Sea Knight. Similar but different aircraft. That DHC-6 Twin Otter is such a sturdy aircraft, hard to see it's wings peel off like that. I was surprised to hear the "Knock it off" call take so long to be made. Very interesting footage.
  12. How much longer until it is released?
  13. Nope. Same thing, it gets to where the setup is registering fonts and hangs. I wait 30 seconds or so and I get a (Not Responding) in the title bar of the window. I'll just ditch the v1.52. Are we real close to v2.0? Will you be able to make your target date?
  14. I know from my Mechwarrior experience that all of the effort into custom skins was only visible from the users point of view. Are these skins for LOMAC going to have the same result? For instance, in an MP game will my adversaries see the skin I'm wearing or what? I have no reference to IL2's extensive skinning, because I never flew it. Just a question from someone who is interested in finding out what can and cannot be seen.
  15. Any update on the inbound v2.0? I know by the end of the month was a target date, just curious. Maybe I can ditch the v1.52 that won't install and go with the v2.0 from scratch.
  16. I finally made a complete abckup of LOMAC and put it on my second hard drive. D/L'd LOMAN and the skins and whatnot I was interested in from the Biohaz File Library. I am having a problem with installing LOMAN. Defragged my HD before starting, start the self install application, then in it's setup when it gets to "Registering Fonts" it locks up. 3 times now and I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. WTFO?
  17. Maybe someone would/could make a fictitional skin emmulating the Bird of Prey?
  18. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=...606&m=945102161 'apollosmith' posted this up on the Ubi forum and the video ROCKS!!!
  19. No I wasn't part of the Fubar squadron. I am not a computer programmer and editing files and putting in editor/manager programs just give me an uneasy feeling. My FUBAR-phobia should be taken literally. I don't want to 'jack up' my game in the attempt to make it work/run better or the way it could have been released. I am not hacking on ED, but it seems these thing could have been done by the developer and not the community. Maybe it's me, I just haven't gotten a warm fuzzy about the idea yet. Speaking of skins, has anyone else noticed the similarities between the A-10 and the Klingon Bird of Prey(in cruise mode)? Two large engines mounted high and aft. "Bent winged bird" with downward wingtips. Large hole in it's front filled with a deadly weapon that spits/belches out death and destruction. Known more for it's manuverability than it's speed. Not the prettiest thing out there, but glad it's on your side. Just checking.
  20. Roger that. Just trying to get over my FUBAR-phobia and install LOMAN and LOPE. I still haven't found any assesment of the risks/potential risks involved.
  21. X45 Mousehat

I use the Mousehat for my Mavs and to scrol A2A radar in the MiG-29. Set the button to toggle your EOS and your golden. If you choose that setup, up to you.
  22. VSD - Perhaps your friend was referring to the Wisconsin Badgers. I wouldn't know for sure without asking. Their football/touchdown season is over, but he may be cheering on their Hockey or Basketball teams. Perhaps he is just a fan of the University. Asking him would be the best way to find out. Ta.
  23. Will it require a clean install or will it install over the v1.52? And where do I put it? In the Ubisoft folder or by itself......
  24. Electric Shock

I landed hard in a MiG-29 and collapsed the gear. Got a similar sparks show and you could see the gear smashed up against the fuselage. I wish I took a screenshot of it. After it stopped, I ejected and landed just off the left wingtip. Ha, maybe I'll try it again sometime.
